I thought G-Mex was huge for Manchester, and Earl's court seemed even bigger. So I think the size is just right XD

Compared to Collectormania Manchester, which is held in the huge Gmex centre (or whatever it's called these days) I didn't really like the location. Half the guests were out of sight and hard to find, and we would have never known there was a cosplay area unless we spotted it when queueing for Barrowman at the start of the day. The shops were also packed into too small a space which made them hard to get around and involved shoving to get through crowds to get anywhere. Plus we couldn't skate because it was in a shopping centre! D: Our cosplay was all about skating which sucks... and don't even get me started on the treck to actually find the toilets. Since it's a shopping centre we had to walk past all the... normal people. Small children asked why we were dressed so weirdly! (although they did say we looked cool so I forgave them XD)

What if you forget your reference photo on the day? D:

Ah, I'm sorry about that. When you said everyone I thought you meant... you know, everyone. We did bring reference. The judges had it XD Yeah, but with the number of costumes that were actually there 'a few' is a very large portion...

I'm sorry but that's hardly fair. Most of your points are true- the location was terrible and they really needed to advertise it (the only reason we knew there was a masquerade was because we spotted the cosplay desk while we were in the queue for Barrowman) but saying that the people involved had no enthusiasm is wrong. All we could do was get on the stage and pose. Skits aren't allowed and we can usually make people laugh or put on a performance with the questions but they cut those out at the last minute (Not that I'm actually complaining about that, since they asked all the contestants at Manchester questions and the masq went on for so long that half the contestants had already left to catch trains before the results were announced and the members of the audience were visably trying to find a means of escape). And you're right, the origin of the cosplay has nothing to do with the competition. There were anime fans there even if their numbers were few, so we apologise for cosplaying something you don't know but getting fans is not what cosplay is about for us. Also, a lot of the proffesional ones (on the Sunday at least) were either bought or had entered a Collectormania competition before and therefore weren't allowed to enter again. I must admit though, there's something wrong with a competion where us girls, with very little self confidence, thought "We're going to do well simply because there's no one else here."

How sad, Shelke and Shalua (from the same game as Rosso) got shoved into 'many more'. Shows what we get for cosplaying unknown characters XD Cosplay is allowed, there was even a Masquerade at November 8D Buuut do be prepared to get odd looks. There's very few cosplayers so it's a little bit like going out in cosplay in the street D: If you're there as a Demon Nurse, my friends will squee at you. They're fangirls.

It's a little late (I only found the boards this morning D: ) but me and a group of friends will be cosplaying Final Fantasy XD Mostly the girls from Dirge of Cerberus and then one girl is being Reno from FFVII 8D I hope we're not gonna be the only ones there...
