  1. cool. might have to get myself thinking of a few questions now then :)
  2. i've gotten myself a weekend pass, since i figured it's only £6 more so it doesn't really matter too much if i go one day, get everything i want done then and not go back the next. :) and i think i'd totally have to be Smee from Peter Pan if i went as a pirate, he's my fave!
  3. assuming i knew where you were and where the toilet was, yes.
  4. Like I said, you won't be the only one attending by yourself. Last year I asked my friend to go along with me simply because I didn't know what to expect. He had his 'I'm too cool for this' head on which resulted in us coming home pretty early on. It was a good thing that Robert Englund's talk was on later in the afternoon or we'd have went home even earlier. This year I'm actually looking forward to going along by myself as I'll have more time to look around, meet the guests, buy some unnecessary stuff that my wife will hate, and hopefully speak to some of the nice folks i've met on here. yea i'm kinda looking forward to being on my own. i'd just like to get to know a few people before i go that i can maybe meet up with during the weekend. i'm the kind of person that enjoys people watching and listening to other peoples conversations so i tend to just go on impulse talking to strangers. i have a habit of answer questions for people near by if they're confused and i over hear them not knowing what to do. haha. :)
  5. Yea, i'm quite happy going places on my own that aren't kind of based fully on the socialising side. i go to gigs and theatre shows and snooker matches on my own all the time, but you don't really get much chance to talk at those anyway, so it doesn't make a difference whether you're with people or not. and conventions i tend to like making new friends there, or just sparking up conversations while i queue so i don't mind being alone there. at cons it's probably easier being alone to be honest because if you have slightly different interests things will probably clash anyway, in which case you either have to make a sacrifice or split up. I did start seeing a guy a year or so ago and started going out to pubs in glasgow after work, but i'll be honest i prefer to get home from work, and then just crash out or just have a shower and then do stuff in the house. it's not that i don't drink i just don't see the point in wasting money on alcohol when you don't really get anything out of it in the end. work is pretty unsocial too really, the only time they ever go out for drinks on friday is for peoples leaving do's or special occasions with clients, so it's mostly just a lunch time chat with them. being an engineer as well, (25. female) the majority of people at work are a totally different generation, married with kids my age so it's not really like i can tag along on nights out with them in an attempt to meet new people haha.
  6. actually my social circle mostly consists of me, my duvet and a packet of biscuits and my english friends only ever contact me if i contact them first, which sucks. i haven't really made many friends up here, tbh since i work full time (obviously i have friends at work, but they stay at work) and moved up here alone - i'm not really the type to go clubbing/to the pub on my own - and any attempts at making friends at events/gigs has resulted in me finding people that have travelled from further afield so i gave up and became a social recluse. haha. i'd never actually tried haggis until i moved up here and i'm now completely addicted to it. and one of the few friends i do have works for barrs so i'm nicely topped up on irn bru and limeade.
  7. thanks! it never even occurred to me that with it being an arena there would be seating around the edges. makes sense to make use of that! i was imagining it more in a separate 'hall' kind of with flat rows of seating. is it just a matter of hands up and shout if you want to ask a question then?
  8. Just wondering, how do talks work at CM? Like are they in a separate room? is everyone allowed in or do you need tickets or to queue and hope? can you/how do you go about asking questions etc?
  9. everyone i've asked for hugs or a pose, i've just said "would you mind...?" and then gone with their response.
  10. hehe, yea. i just worry that people will wonder why i'm invading their thread. haha. i'm, yet again, bored at work. i don't remember a time when i was ever fully entertained at work. this project is gradually wearing me down.
  11. haha, i've been up here 3 years so i'm starting to get the hang of it. friends back home say i'm starting to sound a bit Scottish too, but i don't believe them. We really are a friendly bunch, you'll be fine. Last year was my first collectormania and I went with a friend who had no interest in anything there whatsoever. After being asked about leaving every 5 minutes last time, I've decided that this year I'll be going alone (so you wont be the only one). that's good to know :) yea, i'm pretty certain most of my friends would be bored and not want to hang around, so i figured i'd just go alone. and then i saw these forums and decided it would probably be a good place to make friends. haha. to be honest i'll probably have that much i want to do and see when i'm there that i won't even notice i'm on my own.
  12. if someone is massively taller than me i ask for a piggy back. it's only ever worked once though. i've done charlie's angels at an op with two of the guys from supernatural (i was sort of half cosplaying as charlie, so i thought it would be funny). otherwise, depending on who it is either hug or arm around. i always intend to think of good poses but then end up thinking 'but i'd kinda like a normal one too...' haha.
  13. well that was almost quite awkward since i'm english and have no hands. (joke) (about the hands, at least).
  14. Woohoo! Hello :) I'd probably be more of a 'cod head' than a 'yeller belly' though, hailing from Grimsby! haha
  15. sooo this will be my first collectormania event... any advice for a newbie going alone? :)
  16. i'm bored at work in an office on my own, so work being done is minimal. i'm also in the awkward 'newbie on a forum' stage
  17. {taking this from Denzel Washington?} Emma Watson
  18. Erm. I'm not really sure who would be classed as most famous out of Ronnie O'Sullivan, Stephen Hendry or Matt Dave Lewis (Neville Longbottom). Ronnie i've met a couple of time as i have to admit was disappointed in his attitude both times - especially considering one was the kind of event which involved meeting fans for photos and autographs. Hendry I was far too starstruck to say anything beside 'could i have a photo and your autograph' so i can't really comment on. MDL was absolutely lovely though! His mum introduced me to him as she recognised me from twitter (i'm not a crazy tweeting loony, i'm still baffled as to how she knew unless she was looking into who was going to the play he was in) and he stopped for a quick chat and a photo. I will openly admit i cried afterwards because he was so lovely.
  19. i definitely prefer going for photos, mainly because i'm more likely to display photos or look at them again in the future. i have an autograph book which is in my bag constantly (and i'll admit mostly full of snooker players autographs) but i barely look at it unless someone asks to see it. half the time, if i meet someone 'famous' i'll forget about it completely, ask for a photo and then think 'oh shucks i should've got their autograph too'. i have to admit sometimes ages comes into it as well, along the lines of the older the person the more likely i am to go for autograph over photo, although that tends to depend on the degree of fame (from my opinion) as well... haha.
  20. Hey. I'm Caroline, 25. I'm English (from Lincolnshire) but have lived just outside Glasgow for the past few years whilst working as an Engineer. Relatively new to the who 'con' thing, but i can see myself becoming addicted. Beside watching TV shows/films I enjoy cross stitching, snowboarding and hiking. I'm really useless at these kind of things, but i'd say my favourite TV shows include merlin, robin hood (i still miss it), game of thrones and supernatural. Just bought my ticket to CMG (my first CM event) and i'm looking forward to it despite the fact i'm currently going alone, so please befriend me if you're going. :) Erm.. Is that good enough?
