    Guests!

With the nightmare that was LFCC over. Autographica gets bumped up to 3rd spot. That surly means that there are guests annoucements on the way...... ?
  2. I edited my comment just for you
  3. I think some of the people giving praise and adulation had the expensive passes. Thus they were able to see and do far more things, and therefore had a completely different experience than the 'average punter'. It's a little misleading when they start arguing that it was wonderful, and that everybody is just moaning for the sake of it. Although some pass holders seemingly had an equally bad time too...
  4. I think you could almost write it anyway, it’ll include…. ‘learn from the mistakes' ‘won’t happen again’ ‘unexpected demand’ ‘bigger and better next year’ And a bunch of statements that simply weren’t true (whilst avoiding all the horendous mistakes, and things where people had been mislead - trailer fest, Stan Lee, the special guest who wasn't human, the raffle etc, Gold / Sliver / Comic / etc passes.... etc) I'm joking, but it will look something like that.
  5. If it was a pre-paid system. It could be worded into their contract how many they agree to sign. Then they could pace themselves over the day. If you agree to 1,000, you'd know that you'd have to hurry up a bit.
  6. I'm a little confused about how this event went so wrong. The stated capacity of the venue was 10,750 / seated 6,000. Surly these figures are for concerts, for a trade show the capacity on health and safety grounds would big significantly reduced from this number. They expected 80,000, something doesn't sound right somewhere. It just sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen. * Note to self, remember not to make a typo spelling genius.
  7. The menu at 'roast' looks expensive, but yummy! Thanks for the tip!
  8. YIKES! 400! Didn't they say something even a few weeks ago when people were expressing concerns even then, that they "know how to rush them through so you can all meet him, we've done this before!" What happened?.
  9. Who pays for the flight in these instances. You'd barely get any refund so close to the boarding time.
  10. As a quick fix, put some spaces into it, or try every combination to get it to allow it - remove the 'http', or 'www', etc.. At least people at least know its there. :)
  11. How come? Other people have their facebook links in their signatures?
  12. My only point was that these guys used to be much cheaper than the Apollo guys. Now even they're creeping up. Hasn't the previous average price for post-Apollo guests been around £25. Everybody seemingly now wants a slice of the 'pie'. Whilst I agree with your post, I'd much rather be strapped to a later rocket / capsule than some of those early ones.
  13. 18Blue both are listed on the 'guest prices' thread Both are £40 a pop!. These prices are seemingly going up and up!. Others -> Vance £40 / Al £50
  14. How about putting a link to your blog on your signature on your posts here? :)
  15. The early cosmonauts came to a show I believe in 2004. Is there any way we can tempt these back again?. I understand they were planned for a later show, but there were some visa issues. Could pre-ordering autographs in advance prove that there is demand prove that their visit is justified?.
  16. I appreciate that they did some important experiments, and have no doubt some interesting stories to tell. But circling the earth in effectively a laboratory, just simply isn’t as exciting or as inspiring, as the story of going to the moon.
  17. Whenever I look at the main forum page, 'ET' always catches my eye. I'm like 'Yiiiiiiikes! and ET event'.... Then I realise that its not the funny little alien, and get disappointed. I'm not sure why I'm telling you any of this.
  18. I just can't seem to get excited about shuttle / Skylab folks. They always seem to be fairly quiet whenever I walk past them too, so it can't just be me. The tentative link to Apollo 13 makes it slightly more interesting though.
  19. It's intriguing to see how this thread goes against the boarder picture of the UK economy, in that demand and overall price ceilings are seemingly bottomless. Over the same period all other areas of entertainment have seen falls in attendances. As people become more selective in how to spend their disposable income. As I said, maybe this is more of a form of addiction, rather than a logical state of mind. But you are correct David, everybody should make their own decisions on what to buy. It would be interesting to find out if anybody here actually goes without, or gets into serious debt because of shows like these.
  20. I'm amazed some days how people are able just to say 'wow! yep here's £40 or £80 (with photo)' in an instant. I guess autograph collecting is a thrill and a mild addiction. Would they instantly spend £40 on something else. In these days £40 isn't cheap, when you also consider the money to get in, and the travel expenses its even more. Maybe there are just people on these forums a whole bunch richer than me. Good guest though.
  21. I'm interested to learn, how the astronauts are selected for each event?, are they asked personally, and if so, are the so far 'unachievable' few repeatedly asked each time? - or is there a go between who sets up the deal and directs which ones are available?. I'm still hoping for some of the older faces, or some exciting new Apollo names.
  22. I'm confused how 'do you own your own home?' and 'what level of education do you have?', has anything remotely in connection with the business model, or its direction in the future. It makes me wonder if any of this information is being sold off to third parties. Please reassure me that this isn't the case.
  23. Dave from a bunch of collectors to another (in essence putting your collectors hat on, instead of your business hat), as you have ruled out any mail in service, and we know these guys aren’t getting younger. Even at two shows a year our opportunities are slowly diminishing to complete the set – could you therefore confirm if there are any Apollo guys that have categorically said ‘no, I have no interest ever in coming to Autographica’, where no money, deals, or incentives will make them change their mind?.
  24. You are correct, Ed is a truly giant name in modern history. I however feel that colleting Apollo autographs with Showmasters is almost similar to joining a club. As soon as you get one, you’re in, and you’re then committed and therefore determined to complete the entire list before they all sadly pass. Although I’ve never discussed this with any other Autographica fans, I’d assume that the majority who have started this journey – take advantage of the few opportunities that we get. Even if we can’t be there in person, there’s always the mail in service, or friends who’ll get them for you. I therefore feel that with time now running out, the repeated names should be combined with a new or harder name, to keep both older and newer fans contented. As at these prices, I'd guess that sadly most of us can't afford to buy multiples of the same person. Solely relying on (recent) repeated names could therefore be commercial suicide, as the demand (for the above reasons) would surely be far less. Perhaps if there are some of the names on the list I quoted are totally non-negotiable at any price. Perhaps it’s time to think outside the box, and consider a mail in options or something similar.
  25. 'Any' Apollo isn't what I'd go for Bergman. We don't want the same names coming again over and again. As I'm not sure that's going to sell tickets too well. We want the rarer ones.
