A message from Eddie Paskey
JohnOfManchester replied to snakeydavid's topic in Destination Star Trek London
Eddie was lovely. He had a big queue when I met him on Saturday, so we didn't have as much time to chat as I'd have liked, but it was still great to meet him. -
lol, you're not the only one. I looked at my watch this afternoon, about 2:30, and caught myself thinking, "this time last week I was talking to Patrick Stewart ..."

Name of Autograph/merchandise stall?
JohnOfManchester replied to JohnOfManchester's topic in Destination Star Trek London
thank you both! -
I could reel off a big long list of names, but the top one would be Katee Sackhoff. She's done signing events before (LFCC), is a fan fave from her BSG days and also has a role in the upcoming Riddick 3 which should raise her profile next summer. I'd be at Collectormania in a flash!

Name of Autograph/merchandise stall?
JohnOfManchester posted a topic in Destination Star Trek London
Can anyone remind me of the name of the autograph/merchandise dealer that was situated to your left as you came in the main entrance? It was near to the Klingon Zone and the Filmwelt stall. It had a section with loads of Trek action figures, and then a longer section with autographs, Trek novels, starship models, toys, etc. I spoke to the guy behind the counter about a couple of the autographs he was selling, and took a flyer so that I could check their website later when my bank balance has recovered to a state where I could consider buying them .... but I must have thrown out the flyer when I dumped all the advertising tat from my goody bag! Aargh! thanks John -
Weirdest thing you saw getting signed

Was anyone wearing the bra at the time? Ha ha. -
The good most definitely outweighed the bad for me, as well. I was fully prepared for the event to be expensive, but I was willing to pay because this was a one-off opportunity to meet so many of my favourite actors in one place, without having to travel to a US convention, and I am over the moon that I was able to attend. I met all the guests I wanted to, I saw some fun talks with Ron Moore, Brannon Braga, and others, I have a great photo with William Shatner (my childhood hero) which will hang in pride of place in its DSTL frame on my wall. My girlfriend who isn't even a Trek fan enjoyed herself as well. We were both a little disappointed at missing out on some of the free talks on Saturday due to the queueing issues, but this didn't spoil the weekend or even spoil that day. We both had so much fun and would definitely look at attending a "DSTL 2.0". I would love for you to get all of the TNG cast together next time.

Most approachable/engaging captain?
JohnOfManchester replied to en3sge's topic in Destination Star Trek London
Patrick personalised my pic (this was about 15 mins after show opening on Friday) and although time with him was obviously very brief, he was pleasant and made a little conversation as he signed. Scott, as mentioned in the "favourite guest" thread was really friendly, offered his hand, commented on my Quantum Leap pic, had a joke and made me (and everyone else) feel very welcome. Shatner was basically a conveyor belt-approach, but I wasn't too disappointed because I was expecting as much based on comments from his LFCC appearance in 2010. He did look up and say hi to me and my girlfriend, but wasn't really up for conversation. -
Who was your favourite guest you met?
JohnOfManchester replied to miltonbones's topic in Destination Star Trek London
Scott was genuinely warm and friendly, the best experience of the captains for me. Of the non-captain guests, Brent Spiner was terrific, making sure he took time to chat with everyone, even if they didn't initiate any conversation themselves. The fans in front of me were German and quickly moved away after having their items signed (either through shyness or because they maybe didn't speak much English), but Brent called them back and asked them what city they came from, how their trip was going, etc. Very nice guy. My favourite overall would have to be Robin Curtis, though. Very approachable, chatty and likeable. Happily posed for a photo. My girlfriend was hanging back holding the bags and my camera, but Robin made a point of introducing herself and thanking my GF for coming along.
