GoldenGreen
So if we could have a Horrormania event, who would you like to see there, what else would you like to see going on , etc ? Perhaps it would be good to tie in with a couple of cast reunions for some big anniversaries for example, so next year would be great to do an event with A Nightmare on Elm Street celebrating its 30 Year Anniversary and we've certainly seen guests from this before, not least Robert who has been a regular attender of Showmasters events over the years. It would of course give the opportunity to bring Wes Craven over and perhaps the day could be followed by a screening of the movie in the evening with a Q&A with the cast beforehand. It's also the 40th Anniversay next year of Black Christmas, so again a good connection with Margot having been at recent events and also Keir Dullea in the past and could also be a screening and Q&A. Both of these movies are truly iconic. Added to the cast list could be a range of other Horror guests from both old (plenty of UK based guests who often do events from Hammer Movies) and new Horror (a couple of big recent Hororr Names from over the pond, like Danielle Harris, Tony Todd etc , including some great opportunities for talks, photoshoots and autos. Some other ideas might be a Directors area with some masterclasses, and an area focussing on Horror make up, where you could go and get made up to be a "Monster" or make-up Robert Englund or Clive Barker as their Horror Alter Egos for a photo shoot. I could go on, but what else do you think and what would you like to see ?
farmer
Agreed. This is definitely a market that hasn't been explored here in the UK. The US is full of them, and they have big crowds. It's odd that we pick small franchises and shows as apposed to this already proven genre.
bruces
It really surprises me that Showmasters have never had a Horror convention, yet they have ones for Twilight, Harry Potter, Stargate etc. Are they worried that the crowds will be too big for a Horror con?
andini
Isn't it Gremlins 30th next year too? Would be great to get some of the cast. Directors would always be welcome, Argento, Bava, Deodato, Marshall, Dante, the list could go on for ever :-) Also low budget /indie UK actors and directors, give them an opportunity to get their works known.
GoldenGreen
Also low budget /indie UK actors and directors, give them an opportunity to get their works known. Maybe our own "Indiana" could show his award winning movie as well "Guilty Conscience" ?
smcelhenny
Agree fully an event like this would be off the charts of awesomeness. With how many people are doing cosplay at showmasters events there would be some wonderful costumes on display. As well as directors and actors, special effects guests, horror authors eg barker, Joe Hill, Max Brooks for example.
