Alien Anthology Bluray news

Recommended Posts

In new proof of the power of a global enthusiast community, a member of a Danish home theater forum has posted advance pictures of the Polish release of the upcoming Alien Anthology Blu-ray box set, including a limited edition with alien-egg packaging. The box set reportedly consists of six discs and its release date is set for the fourth quarter of the year

Regarding the box set itself, two product images have been leaked. It is not clear which of them will be used; maybe they are for different territories, or maybe one will be the artwork used on a slip cover, and the other inside.

Disclaimer: all of the above is unofficial until there is a formal announcement from the studio. If a Limited Edition is indeed released, it may be available in limited territories only.

The first trailer for the Alien Anthology set can be seen on YouTube in 1080p format. Not sure if this is official or not but it’s rumoured to have been ripped from the upcoming Fox release Minority Report. The teaser shows quick shots from all four Alien movies but doesn’t reveal anything new about the Blu-Ray set

I still dont have a BD player...cant seem to find a decent one that is multi-region. This Alien set is meant to blow the DVD set outta the water though. I hope this time Fincher has contributed to Alien 3 and that we get to see the Burke cocoon sequence from Aliens..

I'd also like a formal video apology from Joss Weadon and Jean Pierre Jeunet for f'ing up A:R.

It's really still a trilogy .... it's really still a trilogy ......"

They should have done the 4th film without Ripley and just went into a totally new direction with new characters...it finally looks like they're doing that now with the prequel. The Ripley character and story-arc came full-circle with the Alien at the end of Alien 3 and it should have stayed there.

While no specs have been revealed, this is apparently going to make the already-awesome DVD set (known as the "Quadrilogy") look puny. (One of the very special features is that neither AvP or AvP:R have been included.) THE ALIEN ANTHOLOGY is scheduled to come out in the fourth quarter of this year, presumably December.

Alien Anthology bluray insert that you fox bluray buyers should be getting leading up to its release date december 2010.

This is just a quick update on a title we've talked about several times before, but as it's still a few months away from being officially announced, the news belongs here. In an interview with the L.A. Times over the weekend, actress Sigourney Weaver revealed that she's going to be recording brand new audio commentary tracks for each of the four Alien films - tracks that will be added to Fox's nearly complete Alien Anthology Blu-ray box set. We've confirmed this news with our industry sources, who have also informed us that the box set is going to blow away fans of the previous DVD Quadrilogy. Not only have all of those previous extras have been included, but TONS of new material has been added as well exclusively for the Blu-ray release - extras that should make the BD WELL worth upgrading to. The set will be released in mid-to-late 2010, and rest assured we'll keep you up to date on it.

As always, the above information is to be considered unofficial and subject to change until the studios in question make official announcements. Stay tuned...

Here is some other news about Ridley Scott and his alien prequals what do you guys think:

Director Ridley Scott was front and center when Collider caught up with him at a recent "Robin Hood" press junket to discuss a little "Alien" prequel rumors and whether the film will be in 3D...

Follow up:

"Of course, it'll be 3D," he replied, adding that the film will be shot in 3D rather than converted later. The big obstacle, however, is that 3D cameras can't shoot in low light and "Alien" is all about darkness and shadows." Scott said that they'll tackle this issue in post-production.

He also mentioned that the story arc is so grand that one film just won't be enough, "It'll be two. It'll be prequel one and two. Then Alien 1," he explained. And regarding whether the two new films will be shot back-to-back. "At the moment I'm just trying to get the first one out."

Details of the extras for the Blu Ray release have been announced here for the German release:

http://www.dvduell.de/artikel/erste-detail...gy-blu-ray-box/

This is in addition to what already came with the DVD Quadrilogy and dont forget Weaver is meant to be doing all-new audio commentaries too for each film. Glad to see James Remar footage in there but still no deleted Burke cocoon sequence or more deleted scenes from Aliens and Alien 3. Hopefully this list isnt final.

more additional features been released:

The Alien Anthology will reportedly have all the features that were on the Alien Quadrilogy as well countless more features. German website DVDDuel.de posted details of a lot of the new features that were submitted to a rating database. This isn’t a complete list by any means. It just will give you an idea of what to expect.

Following the release of the Predator – Ultimate Hunter Edition, DNR (digital noise reduction) in Blu-ray releases seems to have become a concern for some of us. On the topic of DNR in the new Aliens release, The Digital Bits recently posted this:

“Everyone we trust who was involved, and/or has actually SEEN the new Aliens HD master for Blu-ray, reports to us that the film looks terrific. To the degree that DNR (digital noise reduction) was used, it was applied carefully and with a light hand, with an eye toward striking the proper balance between maintaining the detail and integrity of the image and the desire to reduce grain and address the deficiencies of the stock used at the time. There is apparently STILL grain left in the image, it’s just no longer excessive or distracting.â€

I cant find any info anywhere but does anyone know if the set includes new audio commentaries? I remember reports saying Siggy was gonna record new ones for each film but heard nothing since. I guess theat plan was shelved.

Its out this Monday....I dont even have a BR player yet.

Glad the deleted Burke cocoon sequence is included and also the full length Alien 3 'Wreckage and Rage' documentary with Fincher going mad. Alien 3 - Assembley Cut has also been totally cleaned up. :YAHOO:
