Music at the parties

Recommended Posts

Anything by Driveshaft.

Rockstar by Nickelback is a must.

Great song, but you can't dance to it.

Bringing CD's would seem pretty pointless, as I'm sure Davie will be the DJ and I don't know that he was using a CD player...

I thought the music was fine at Eclipse, was a decent mix (given as NO-ONE has the same taste in music)

Would be good to have some Dance Tunes in there thoughout the parties. Something you can actually dance to rather than wave your head up and down. Yomanda - Synth and Strings is a good one and Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar. I'll bring some CDs......

Problem with tracks like that, is that a lot of people don't know them and if they don;t know them, they'll leave the dance floor...

Defintely the lost songs there are plenty to choose from.

Most of them are chill-out music.... which you can't dance to....

Dance Music is good as it has some good beats and as a DJ myself I know this is the best sort of music to dance to, although a good mix is always fun. I just hope there isnt to much 'Rock' as that really can be impossible to dance to.

So what exactly did people dance to before this "dance" music came along....I think that lots of people around in the 60's would argue that what they listened to was dance music too including the likes of Mama Cass, Petula Clark , James Brown, The Beach Boys etc....all with tunes used in LOST!

I think just popular tunes, from all different eras. Too much of any music is annoying. So maybe like a few dance tracks, some nice popular chart hits and also some Lost songs maybe at the beginning to get us all in the mood?

Great! I agree with you - So many parties these days stick to one type of music and there are going to be people there that like one thing, or lots of things - So a good mix is the best way to go. Oh yea - Someone said that no one would know Synth and Strings and Cafe Del Mar - They both were in the top of the charts for a while a few years back!! Trust me you would know it if you heard it!

OH... (stop rant) wonderwall by oasis

charlie sung that all the time

Again, it's a fantastic track (one of my all time favourites), but it's chill out music and you can't dance to it! It's not 'party music'

As a DJ, you must surely know that different audiences require different sorts of mixes? YOu wouldn't play the same set at a wedding as you would at a night club!

Convention music is definitely at the wedding end of the mix, where as at a club, everyone knows what to expect (and therefore can't really complain at the music) at a convention, everyone just wants stuff the recognise and is easy to dance to.

Hi everyone :waves:

I thought I would come on here and say thanks for all your suggestions in what to play at the parties.

Its always good to hear suggestions as you know what sort of music is the best to play. Unfortunately it is difficult to play every song that everyone likes as some people like Slipknot, Barry Manilow, Freddie & the Dreamers, the Glen Miller band and so on. So to put that mix in would maybe be a bit odd and lose the flow of the party.

I will and do try my best to play as many of the requests as possible, but sometimes its hard too, either its not really the right song to play or just dont have the time.

I think it was Chris who said that Convention music is like wedding music, that would sum it up quite well, except the slow love type songs & jive bunny haha! Unless you guys wanted it!!! I do try to play the most popular sort of dance to type music like, S Club, Steps, five, Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi etc as I think they are the types that anyone can dance too and just have a great feeling too, especially after a few bevvies

Anyway, keep up the suggestions, and come see me at the party if you have a request. I can be a bit cheeky sometimes so please dont be offended if I say something rude, I don't mean it.

Oh and I do use CD's I much prefer CD's, I bring my laptop in case I need to scoot for a bit, or if I need to download purchase from itunes a song :poki:

So if you do want to bring a CD with passable music :P that would be cool. Its your party at the end of the day and I want to make sure its a night to remember!

If it's any help, my mates and I really enjoyed the music at Eclipse (you're right, the bevvies 'may' have helped) adn I think the most telling thing was the fact that the dance floor was pretty busy both nights.
