Milton keynes citizens

This might seem like a bit of a weird thread for these forums but let me explain. I currently live in stevenage at home with my parents (i'm only in my early 20's before you point and laugh :P) and have recently been thinking about moving out and due to the overall crapness of this town would like to move to a different one. By coincedence yesterday i saw a channel dedicated to milton keynes and it got me thinking about moving there, I go there about once a month anyway as i love the centre mk but i was just wondering if anyone lives there and can tell me how easy it is to rent/buy a house or flat and what kind of job you do there (i'm told MK has the lowest unemployment rate for any city in the uk). I figuared i'd ask here as everytime Collectormania comes around alot of people seem to say they live in the area. cheers.

Although Milton Keynes is a nice place to live its is also quite expensive regarding property. There are always plenty of places to rent here but expect to pay about £450 a month for a very small house and up to about £700 a month if you want a small 2 bedroom house. I rented a number of times before buying a place here in MK and found it quite expensive but of course that depends on what sort of job you have at the time. As for employment I'm not really sure there, I now work in IT but couldnt tell you about how many jobs are going in MK compared to other towns.

Here are some sites you will find useful if wanting to rent in Milton Keynes...

http://www.alanfrancis.co.uk/

http://www.castle-estates.co.uk/

http://www.thomasandcompanyrentals.co.uk/Index.aspx

http://www.faulknerproperty.co.uk/index1.html

And if your looking to buy Right Move is always a good place to start

Hope that helps a bit

Need any other help just MSN me at james__perry22@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks for the info dude. Yeah, to rent seems like the same price as here in stevenage.

It is very easy to rent a place in Milton Keynes. What I would recommend is organising a couple of days to look at houses because some estate agents advertise 3 bedroom houses etc when one of the rooms is actually more of a shoe box and you can not get even a single bed in there!

I rent a house in MK (with 2 other forum members!) We are with Cauldwell. They only rent/sell MK property and there signs seem to be up everywhere, so you might get a good selection from them. However there admin side of things is not what I would call the best! They do seem quite competetive with prices tho.

There are always plenty of jobs in offices/schools/retail and telesales in Milton Keynes so I dont think you would have much problem finding a job!

One thing I do find a bit rubbish in MK is the transport system. If you dont drive you are very limited on the bus services depending where you move too. The closer to the centre you are the more frequent the buses, but you also pay a bit more for the house the closer you are.

If you need any opinions on estates in MK if you do decide to start looking for a place to live in MK, then all you have to do is ask. I can give you advice on what estates to stear clear from!

Hope that is of some help, any more questions then dont hesitate to ask!

Wow, you guys are really helpful on here. THANKS. Yeah, the good thing is stevenage isn't THAT far from milton keynes so if i decide to look for houses and jobs there i'll be able to travel there and back before actually comitting, I've known people who have moved abroad without even going to the place first which would scare the hell out of me! thanks again for the info.

  • 2 weeks later...

I lived in MK for around 11 years and hated every part of it apart from Collectormania, in every town and city i have been to I found the indigenous population of MK to be the most rudest and hostile in the whole country. and most of my friends who are from alternative backgrounds found themselves victimised because of their "differences"

anybody remotely "different" from anybody else is targetted, including people attending the Collectormania events especially those in costume and/or those who stand out from a crowd

in every job i ever had, every social event every club, was it coincidence that just about every white person i came into contact with just so happened to be extremely rascist? and completely persecuted all of my real friends?

everyone here was a liar and a betrayor, and the only Genuinly kind friendly people i met here were a small number of gothic people, the otaku culture and anyone born in a different country!

if anyone is from a culture that is classed as "not a local" i advise not to move to MK, I once got attacked on the street just because i was not a skin-head and was socialising with a black girl! that is not the kind of city i like to live in where people are hostile to anything/anyone unlike themselves!

i only go into Central MK when a convention is happening and i am with close friends, never for any other purpose.
