had this conversation with my mate the other day about what group we were in at school, and we decided our little group were misfits but me and her were the cool ones as we spoke to everyone in the yr and had the respect of the upper sixth rugby team when we were in yr 11 so we got respect from everyone, but yeah film geek at heart

Geek can't be defined, mate! There are too many different kinds of geeks, really. Computer geeks, science geeks, comic geeks, movie geeks, specialist geeks (HP, x-men, etc, etc), general geeks...

It's a very general term! Lolz.

I reckon anyone who has a hobby or interest that they know a lot about could be called a geek, because it seems to me it's not a negative term, more kind of saying someone is sweet cos they are deeply into something. So I reckon almost everyone has a bit of Geek in them!!

 

Not sure about Nerd, that sounds more negative. I think Geek has been embraced as cool and applies to social groups of similar thinkers (like forum gatherings!), but Nerd implies the socially challenged.

 

I'm a music geek! And I'd be a trainee film geek, but I don't have a good enough memory!
