I am not breaking the rules as I have not said where or when or who or anything! just mentioned that they are at another event! soz to wrestling fans but I am not a fan of wrestling and just think you would be better off going to the other event, which is becoming heavilly wrestler-ified, if you want to meet wrestlers than to hope SM might get them of course if you want to meet other guests too, do what most people do and go to BOTH!!! both the SM event and this event have SG guests so hence going to both, seeing as they can't all go to the same one!! now of course it works the same way for everything, SG, SW, ST, EVERYTHING! so I would say the same to anyone, like I already posted about the Enterprise boys I'm NOT advertising as I have not mentioned names or locations I am just saying to FANS who want to meet specific guests that they are going else where, which I think is fair enough seeing as that SM can't really get them when they are going to other events!! soz if this comes out wrong.... I take your point .... hell I AGREE with you ! But SMs tend not to see it like that. You would think that promoting of the con scene generally, keeping interest up, and generally keeping it alive would be a good thing, but not at SM Towers ! I'm a tad confused by the wording... I think you are referring to the rival that is an animal who now allow their users to basically slag off SM on their boards and hell even ENCOURAGE it! which I think is wrong I think SM events are FAR more organised than the one I think you are referring to, which is why I got a tas confuzzeled at the end of the day, fans will go where the guests they want to meet are, unless they are going to MK cause they live in or around it for the socail experience, which I will say ROCKS and CM is the ONLY event that offers that sort of socialising weekend and I love it for it! anyways ummm du think we should get back on topic and talk about guests? *hides* Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

sarahoneill Posted February 28, 2005 Share Posted February 28, 2005 Not like this is the only forum to not allow advertising of other events though is it? read that wrong too!!! you put that accross negitively which sorta made my brain skip out one of the "not"'s as you'd already said "not" at the beginning you're right, no forums allow "advertising" but other forums don't mind you mentioning other ORGANISERS and some times events, depending on the context. the L3 board is an example, SM often is mentioned over there, which I think both organisers are ok with as they are "friends" and have even "shared" (or should I say come to an arrangement?) about guests in the past, e.g. Torri from Stargate Atlantis. at the end of the day, people who go to cons/events for autos and to meet guests and buy merhcanise (NOT just the people that come to hang out e.g. at CM events) know about the circuit events anyways!!! but the point is how can I be advertising if I am not mentioning specifics that show blatantly which event I am on about? (well not in regards to wrestlers anyways ) ALL forums will mention other events by location if people posting want to refer to them anyways ps-I only mentioned the date when talking about Enterprise as to show why it is unlikely that SM could get "Trip", which would be because of the clause about appearing at other shows, pps-I feel honoured to have the "legendary" (don't let that go to your head!!! ) dufresne agree with me! *sighs happilly* Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

That way u can't get deleted or get into arguments etc. I go to other shows, and sure it'd be nice if all the organisers could get along but sadly it's not gonna happen. If one forum won't allow mentioning of other events then the other isn't going to either. Just easier to play by the rules and not try to get round them by whatever clever wordplay or hidden links u wanna do .. just respect the rules that are set n follow them, even if ya don't agree with them Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

sarahoneill Posted February 28, 2005 Share Posted February 28, 2005 David B are you hiding? don't mind me as I "spam" the topic I agree that I have used clues/links whatever you want to call them in a post or two of recent times on this particular topic BUT I did not use those clues/links/etc when referring to guests as you yourself have said, David B, people go to other events and if they want to know if people they know from THIS forum are going as well, then they tend to ask! just unfortunately, as you have also said, the use of the word "blantant" has an unclear meaning and sometimes these posts get deleted (take for example the dispute over Patrick Stewart postings in the ST topic) which I always get confused as as it seems to be ok for people to guest request and say ""so and so" is appearing in the UK, get them to your show", which seems to the same thing? SM THEMSELVES go to other events to promote their events so it just seems silly sometimes to disallow mentioning of other events, even when not doing so specifically! it seems the context of what is being mentioned or indeed HOW it is written determined whether is it deleted or replied to or not perhaps it would be easier to specifically say what users are allowed or post e.g. yes mention "other events" as in just like that but you are not allowed to say locations etc rather than saying "blatant" or "advertising" which, as it seems, people have different interpretations of anyways! phew!!!!
