I'm happy to report I got the full Benedict Cumberbatch complete with x's on both my pics and a very lovely but brief chat with him about Khan, the man is a pure delight and did his best to chat to every one, and from what I saw the "fangirls" as you put it were very respectful and mindful of the people behind them and didn't take the mick, so let's not assume that all fans are the same in every fandom.

His autographs seem to get shorter throughout the day bless him, at the last signing it started as Benedict Cumberbatch x then it went to Benedict C x then Ben C x He really should have a shorter name lol

Couple of other quick questions, sorry, but if I was to get silver can you say yet whether the five photos will be some of the non-acting guests too as (I mean this as nicely as possible) I'm not really too fussed at having my pic with them and would prefer it to be the actual actors from the show or am I better off getting a weekend ticket and buying separate photos also are the rest of the guests photos going to be limited a la BC or will they not run out?? I'm always amazed that Sean Bean never appears at this event I mean it is his home town after all and not that long ago my old boss was having drinks with him in her local pub in the city centre so I guess he's around and about, unless they're just not his thing!!

Yeah I get that but they've got to pull it all together, properly announce it, market it, sell tickets, provide the hotel and actually run it all in under 3 months and they're not exactly making it out to be a small affair, yes I get that they've done it before but it seems like a mammoth undertaking in such a short space of time considering how many other events they are organising at present too which seem to get a lot more focus than this one has. I honestly hope it'll be a success but I really hope that they're not just relying on the fact that people will just drop everything to attend as considering it's at such short notice there's not a lot of time to save, book time off work etc etc I really really want to go as I'd love to meet Rupert Graves and Louise Brealey if they can get them but I have to take into account the practicalities of such a thing, gone are the young carefree days of not working and being able to just up sticks and decide to do what I want when I want but alas life just isn't that simple anymore for a lot of us and conventions cannot take the priority that they used to.

I got this via email too but unfortunately due to when they're looking at I doubt I'll be able to get time off work at such short notice, how they'll pull it all together if it's going to be such a huge event in under 3 months is beyond me!!! I hate to say it but this is how the Bitten events ended up being, no communication from organisers whatsoever, lack of guests and they ended up finishing because people (including myself) got fed up with being treated unprofessionally. For me it's about time SM/ME threw in the towel when it comes to weekend conventions and should just stick to the signing events which they already place so much focus on as it would appear that that is all they are interested in. Come on Mark/Jason the natives are getting restless now and that is not a good thing for potential paying customers to be.

Well it's been 10 months since the ''announcement'' and nothing else has been confirmed since, for me this is not the way to go about getting people to come to your events, they never should have said anything until they had some concrete details such as a venue and date. I wonder if we'll get to the 1 year anniversary of Benedict's appearance and the glorious day that I finally got to meet him and there'll still be nothing confirmed, only 8 weeks to go

Maybe it would help then if he came over here and said something as well instead of just FB

I don't think anyone is buying that it was put out to try to scope interest they have never ever done anything like that before and it's clear to see from plenty of other sources that Sherlock and Benedict have a huge fanbase all of whom are willing to spend money to see these people. It should have been clear from the ticket sales for the other event selling out that there is interest out there and it did not need doing at all we all know why it was done and when it was done, just no one will actually admit that they pulled such a childish stunt but like I say I personally think it's backfired somewhat as thankfully a good number of people have had the chance to meet BC especially now his career and Martins have exploded so their schedules will be packed and I'm guessing they won't have time for a convention. People are rapidly losing interest in this knowing that there's a large chance the main 2 won't be at it even if it does go ahead and the big thing that's letting SM/ME down is the distinct lack of information and communication and the way that they disregard the fact that they were feeling petty and put out an announcement, which it was it was in no way just a small register your interest post it was a detailed event announcement albeit without any actual info. Shocking way to do business and it will lose them customers as is proving evident with these very posts in this thread.

This should never have been so childishly announced back in February, they should have done the mature thing and waited until things were finalised before actually saying anything to the waiting world. I really do think it'll come back and bite them in the arras for being so immature as people, including myself, are getting increasingly annoyed about the lack of communication for this ''event''. It's highly unlikely that Benedict will attend given that his schedule is packed to the rafters for the foreseeable future and now he's also got a wedding to plan, I would imagine Martin Freeman is much the same and as lovely as the rest of the cast are I think most folk are hoping that after such a build up that the main 2 will be included. All in all it's a shame it's going this way but I really do hope someone pulls their finger out soon and gives an update like they promised they'd do, oooh hang on a mo is that a pig flying past me???????
