  1. I met Anthony Daniels around 6 years back at a cons and once I got my autograph he actually asked if my son and I would like a picture with him in front of the C3PO standee that was there. He was really nice.
  2. Excellant announcement and really looking forward to meeting another Aliens guest. I know you have Colette Hiller attending Cardiff but would be great if she could make it to London as well. Well done guys
  3. That picture is indeed Patricia Laffan in Devil Girl From Mars. I can see from the pic on you profile and the fact you know about Devil Girl from Mars you may well have the same taste in dodgy cinema as I do LOL
  4. Excellant news that she will be there. Lovely lady Just curious about the black and white picture posted on here.... kinda looks like Patricia Laffan in a shot from Devil Girl from Mars and not Jacqueline Pearce.
  5. LOL Yup... I thought the same! Still a great guest though.
  6. I dont understand the complainers! If a guest is announced too early they often have to cancel due to work commitments (understandably).... if its left until later (with less chance of cancellations) people complain regarding not enough notice etc etc. As I said before you can never please everyone all the time. I, for one, currently dont want to meet any of the presently scheduled guests but I have the weekend booked off anyway just in case theres announcements of people I want to meet. I understand people that have to shell out and prebook hotels may be dissapointed if people pull out but thats life unfortunately. I am just grateful that Showmasters organise these events as , over the years, they have enabled me to meet people I otherwise probably wouldnt have met. so theres the occasional cancellation but it hasnt destroyed my world or anything..... simple fact is that people love complaining about anything. Instead of the moan offs why dont you guys think what it would be like without these events.... now that would be worth complaining about.
  7. Any Alien or Aliens guests announced and I will be very happy. Talking of getting bigger and bigger guests .. what about James Cameron or Ridley Scott??? (yeah yeah I know)
  8. I would really like to meet him as well. TBH Any Alien or Aliens cast members would be great. I will probably be costuming at this event as a Xeno anyway.
  9. Thanks Murph. Everyone of my friends will be heading toward Tom Skerritt, Charles Dance and most of the GOT guests.
  10. Hi guys! Firstly thanks again for getting such a great guest line up. Can you let me know which guests are going to be VQ guests if you already know. The reason I ask is that I will be working at the event but I have managed to persuade around a dozen friends of mine to attned and as they are all convention newbies they are eager to know whether they should be there early etc (work commitments etc) TBH I cant wait for them to get there because they are bending my ears with questions... anyway if you have any idea who the VQs will be it will help them decide whether they have to get early bird tkts. Thanks guys and looking forward to the weekend.
  11. It will be great to see some Daleks as there are not many around. I am a member of a costume group that also raises money for charity and attends many of the Showmasters events. Showmasters have always been so very supportive to the likes of us and have enabled us to raise a LOT of cash for our chosen charities. Subsequently I believe enabling us to "do our thing" at the cons is great for the customers as they enjoy the various costumers and photo ops and it adds to the general atmosphere. We will look out for you guys there and if you need any support let us know.
  12. Lets be honest... wherever a location is announced someone will be unhappy. YOu could put the entire show on a bus and stop outside every individuals house, allow them an hour with their guest of choice with free photograph, free autograph and a free lunch but you would still get somebody complain about something. "Dear Showmasters, Whilst I was happy with my hour with Harrison Ford Im sorry but my entire day was ruined by the fact the bus that turned up on my doorstep was the wrong colour blah blah blah" Showmasters are doing a great job but you can never please everyone all the time.
  13. Firstly , thanks Showmasters for organising another event. We always get comments and feedback from attendees, co players, dealers etc but what about the guests? I would love to know what the celebrities say to you guys after an event and what sort of comments they make about the event and about us lot who come to see them. Spill the beans and please be gentle with our feelings.
  14. I would be up for this. However, if it was just for Walking Dead then it may be too niche and exclusive. In other words there may not be enough people interested to make the event work (We have seen many events cancelled due to low ticket sales- even currently popular themed events such as LOTR and Harry Potter). If the event was a general zombie themed thing it could work. Get other people from the zombie genre involved. I met Tom Savini, George ROmero and the cast from Dawn of the Dead a few years back so maybe they would attend. Or even to broaden the appeal and get more guests for a Horror movie themed event. But back to the original post - I think it would be great to see the stars of the show and maybe the comic artists to.
  15. I spoke to him and had a pic with him when he was at our costuming stall. HE EVEN SOUNDS LIKE PICARD! Lovely chap and very down to earth. I saw him last year after LFCC on his way home on the tube in full costume totally unfased by people looking at his as if that was a normal journey for the Enterprise captain. I wanted to have a chat with the guy in the Help for Heroes teddy costume to say firstly well done for doing what he was for a great cause and probably get him a drink. How he didnt pass out wearing that I dont know. (Well done to Showmasters again for supporting worthy causes and letting them and us all attend).
  16. I was working at the show all day and managed to get my John Hurt auto first thing and he was very pleasant and chatty, he shook my hand and allowed a picture to be taken. A true gentleman. He seemed genuinely pleased to be there and put me in a good mood for what was going to a hard day of work. As the day progressed his queue didnt let up at all and whenever I looked over he was still happily signing away and chatting despite it being a bit of a warm and sticky day. Every single person I spoke to during the day about John Hurt said the same positive things. In a nutshell, John showed how it should be done. No ego, no stroppiness, no "looking like he didnt want to be there" , he was a true professional and an example to all. Thanks to Showmasters for getting such a top guest along. And also can I say a big thanks to the very helpful crew who were with John Hurt.
  17. I'm not at all enthused about a Bluewater convention either. For EMS I paid: £24 - 2x early bird tickets £45 - Petrol £25 - Parking for the day £30 - lunch & dinner for two because I'm out for so long = £125 + 8hrs total drive Time for the day By comparison I spent £20 on a photoshoot and £55 on two autograps so £75. Essentially I paid £200 for 2 autographs and a photo and I'm absolutely dead after today's endurance marathon (up at 4am, back at 9:30 pm). To be honest I nearly didn't come today because I couldn't be arsed with getting this knackered and driving for so long, and that is after I'd already paid for the early bird tickets and photoshoot and parking! I almost threw away £70 just so I didn't have to slog my guts out getting to the show... but I forced myself because I knew I'd already spent that money and I'd regret not meeting Hurt and Rigg. The drive down to London EMS this morning was a awful and now I might have to think about adding another hour on to get to Kent? I'm not going to bother no matter how good the guests might be. To be honest I'm thinking of giving the London shows a miss because the costs involved in getting there from The North already seem like a total waste of money that could be put to better use on literally anything else. As if guests didn't cost enough the added expense of paying for hotels is a cost I don't want to entertain and the extra fuel costs or even higher train ticket fares put me off even more. I don't mind paying any price for any guest, its a privilege to meet them, but if getting in to the show itself is a logistical/financial nightmare i.e. it costs more to get there than the amount I spend on guests, it is too hard to justify the trip anymore. We have London Film and Comic Con, London Entertainment and Media Show, now Bluewater and Milton Keynes. Are Showmaster's events just run for the Southerners now then??? What happened to the likes of Collectormania in Coventry or Manchester? Why can't Showmaster's spread them out a bit so we all have the opportunity to have shows near us as well as having those that a bit further away? Whilst I agree its not so great that theres less events up north than down here in the South it can only be because these events are not paying their way... if they were profitable or broke even then they would keep them. However to get to Bluewater from the NOrth is quicker and easier than getting to Earls Court. Even though if is further is is just off the M25 so no inner London traffic issues. Also there is FREE parking. . So it would be quicker, cheaper but only a little further as you wont have all the London start/stop driving. I live down a short drive from Bluewater so I can get to it and the London events easily but do think its unfortunate the events up north seem to be on the wain. MK used to be great.
  18. So you are telling me XYZ is going to appear????? YAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! I have always wanted to meet XYZ. Great guy. Well done Showmasters for pulling this one out of the bag , I love you all.
  19. Just made a similar list for myself of people who I have met and have subsequently passed away; Andy Hallett Richard Biggs Pete Postlethwaite Peter Tuddenham Anthony Ainsley Elisabeth Sladen Nicholas Courtney Jon Pertwee Leslie Nielsen Pat Morita Pat Roach Susannah York Tony Curtis David Carradine Peter Graves Simon MacCorkindale Trevor Bannister James Doohan Majel Barrett Ricardo Montalban Michael Sheard Phil Brown Ed Bishop Michael Billington I always wanted to meet Ed Bishop and Michael Billington as I think UFO is one of the most underrated shows ever. And it was strange that they passed away within a week of each other.
  20. What does "a little erm non conventional" mean? There were a few guys there that you couldnt help doing a double take with. Dont get me wrong Im used to seeing cosplayers and have worked in a few nightclubs years back but some of the people here looked like they had walked out of a fetish club. I have nothing against that (live and let live) but in broad daylight PVC on pale white flesh reeeaaalllyyy stands out especially when the wearer is in makeup with plenty of facial hair. I love that people can freely do this in the UK and applaud people for being different. Actually , it probably would have been a pretty entertaining day as the transvestites who chatted to us seemed a real laugh.... my friend was somewhere between scared and petrified though.
  21. I have been watching the Series 5 DVD from the U.S. and am enjoying it. I think its an improvement on the last four single DVDs they released in the movie format- as 25 minute episodes they are shorter and snappier. Its just a bit annoying that theres no UK release date for it and fans have to import them.
  22. I went to one of the events by Showmasters a few years back and jumped off at Earls Court. My friend and I were really taken back by the amount of women there and there were some real stunners to. As we walked up to the entrance with smiles on our mugs like Cheshire cats we slowly realised there were no men around apart from a few that seemed a little erm non conventional. Then we saw the big signs up for Rimmel and discovered it was a make up convention and we were supposed to be at Olympia -THUD!- back to reality! I was so used to going Earls court I just went there on auto pilot.
  23. Wasnt a con , we were at the London roller derby CHIMPS ON SKATES?????!!!!!! I would pay serious money to see that!
  24. Hi there guys! How did I not see you guys walking around???? I was there the whole weekend crewing with Star Warriors looking after Chewbacca and would love to have seen you guys. The costumes are amazing.
  25. Hi there! Im very sorry to hear that and we tried to accomadate all pictures. We did have a couple of instances where we anticipated the walk from the front of Earls Court to our changing area (right at the back) would take us 20 minutes as we were stopped frequently for photos. We were at the front for a while and Chewie indicated we needed to start back as he was getting warm and thirsty- it took 40 minutes getting back and by the end we had to be get through the crowd due to a wobbling Wookiee. We try to be polite but when people dont understand why we are rushing through it can look like rudeness on our part. Chewie has a tendancy to pose and interact as much as possible and hates letting people down but he was exhausted at the back when we made it. NExt event that you see us please tell us who you are and we we sort out the best possible picture for you. I hope it didnt blight your day but please beleive us we dont like letting people down. Incidently I was the crew member with the scruffy curly hair and (slowly going grey) beard. Next time just say hi to me. Cheers, Vern
