  1. Just because it doesn't add up to you doesn't automatically mean that its down to her skin colour. Maybe her personality just isn't as strong as Billie or Catherine, maybe she just isn't as confident an actress so she cannot command the screen as well, it could be one of many reasons. Thats why I think its completely wrong and unfounded that you keep throwing the race card around as reasons for failure. People are just as likely to dislike someone who is white as they are to someone who is black/asian or whatever. Its a fair point to dislike and actor/actress based on their performance but to dislike someone just because of their skin colour is exceptionally blinkered and to completely discount a black doctor just because a previously casted black family didn't work out is unreasonable and frankly ridiculous
  2. Oooh snappy comeback, you've manage to completely avoid replying to any of her salient points. Bonogirl81's right though, there is no way you can say that Martha wasn't popular because of her skin colour. To make that leap says more about you as a person than about the reality of the situation. As far as I saw Martha wasn't the most dynamic of characters, she spent large portions of time making puppy dog eyes at the doctor and lamenting the fact that he didn't love her the way she loved him. Rose and Donna had way more charisma, they evolved as characters, had some fire about them, got stuck into the situations and actually came up with ideas and solutions to help them. It really doesn't matter what race or colour the next Dr is, as long as he can act and give a bit of character development then he'll be all right by me. I'll admit though that I'm not convinced on the idea of a female Dr. It wouldn't make any sense that he could change sex as there are already female Gallifreyans and its a fairly obvious assumption that Susan was born a female so that implies that their sex stays fixed. I know that this is the realm of Science-Fiction so they can ultimately do whatever they like with the stories but if they want to keep the show from getting farcical then they need to be careful how far they push the boundaries.
  3. He is and the episode is apparently called 'The Next Doctor' so David Morissey does seem like a fairly obvious choice but I'm thinking that's a little too neat and tidy, I'd love and tbh expect them to put some sort of twist in to it.
  4. An older actor would be great although I would say that they'd either need to be not exceptionally old or be very fit for their age. Dr Who is a lot more fast paced now with lots of high energy scenes and I think it must be quite hard going in the filming stakes so whoever takes over will need to be able to keep up with that.
  5. I don't think it'd be too risky at all. You are going to get people moaning regardless as they don't like change. As long as they get a good actor who can carry the role forward then it doesn't matter if they are black, white or purple with pink spots. I think, based on the betting odds in that BBC article, that bringing in John Simm would be a big mistake. He was great as the Master but he is now far too well known as that and that would be far too confusing especially for the younger viewers. I'm really not sure who I wan't as the next Doctor. I must admit James Nesbitt would be pretty cool it'd be nice to have a more rugged type, it'd make an interesting contrast to Tennant.
  6. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! What am I gonna do without my DT fix??? Thank god my man has all the Dr Who's on DVD, but I need some new stuff too. Edit: I've just thought of something good though. Come 2010 he may start doing cons as he'll be out of contract....yayness
  7. Please tell us soon SM, we're dying to know!!! Pretty please with sprinkles on top??? And a cherry???
  8. But it's too cold & it's turning to water lol It was lying quite thickly down by my work in Towcester but it got less the closer I got to Northampton. It still managed to cause some chaos on the way home though
  9. Yay its snowing in Northamptonshire I love snow :D
  10. Aww great news, my fiance is gonna be so excited about this I must admit I mainly know him from the Archers though lol
  11. Thing is though, he didn't actually use the energy for a full regeneration he just used a little of it to heal himself and then stopped a full regeneration so I think he's still on the same one as before. I hope they don't say thats a use of a full regeneration though as it would reduce the running life of the show and mean that they'd have to come up with some kind of science plausible excuse as to why he has the ability to regenerate more than 12 times all the more quickly.
  12. As far as I am awar there is a branch of Boots near to the new venue, it would be very easy for SM to contact them and arrange for photo development. As long as SM give them prior notice they should be able to handle the workload. I've also been told today that there is an Asda and Tesco nearby too, don't know if there is photo development at those branches but it might be another avenue to look donw for SM
  13. I read somewhere that he's expected to make a full recovery so fingers crossed. EDIT: Just went and checked the news section of imdb and they have posted this - Blink-182 Star + DJ AM Expected To Make Full Recovery 21 September 2008 6:28 PM, PDT Latest: Former Blink-182 rocker Travis Barker and Nicole Richie's ex-fiance Adam 'DJ AM' Goldstein are expected to make a full recovery following a plane crash in South Carolina. Barker and Goldstein were hospitalised after the disaster on Friday which left four people dead when the plane they were travelling in crashed after failing to clear the runway. Both stars are said to have scrambled from the blazing wreck of the aircraft before emergency rescue services arrived and are being treated for second and third degree burns at a specialist facility in Georgia. Barker was burned on his torso and lower body and Goldstein suffered burns to his arms and a portion of his head, according to Dr. Fred Mullins of the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors' Hospital in Augusta. Both are in a critical but stable condition in the intensive care of the hospital - but doctors are optimistic that both stars will make a full recovery from their injuries. Dr. Mullins says, "Since both Barker and Goldstein are in overall good health and didn't suffer from any other crash-related complications, a full recovery is expected." When asked if the expected recovery time would be a year he added, "I would expect it would be much sooner than that." And he read out a heartfelt letter from the star's relatives: "The families wish to thank fans from all over the world for their prayers and concern. Deepest sympathy is expressed to the loved ones of those who perished in the crash. As the two recuperate and mourn this loss, privacy for them their families and friends is requested at this time."
  14. I'd totally support SM bringing Ralph Brown back but if you do can you please ask him to bring some Waynes World pics to sign?? I asked him if he had some and he said he did but hadn't thought to bring them with him so I had to have a Withnail pic instead.
  15. Yeah that was what I thought, thanks for the confirmation Lizzy, I was starting to think I imagined it lol
  16. Oh i feel very stupid now!!! I shall go sit in the corner and write out 100 lines "Always look at the date of previous posts before replying" lol Wasn't there a much longer discussion about it at the time?? I think that must be whats made me think it was a different thread.
  17. I swear this has been shown on here before, I'm sure I've seen those pictures before. The costume is very cool though, it looks good EDIT: Yeah I'm sure thats the same one cos the lower legs on the black spider on the chest are not stuck down to the costume and the other one I saw had the same thing.
  18. Thanks, I wish the curls on the wig went well but because they are too heavy, the wig has to be like that lol Is there no way you could use something like shaped foam or polystyrene to support the inside of the curl and find a way to shape the rest of the hair around it?? Sorry if you've already thought of that and discarded it, I just thought I'd throw the idea out there. Your outfit looks fab btw, I'll keep a look out for you if I'm able to make it to Midlands
  19. I'm currently using pillock a lot just now, may just start a campaign to get it used more often lol
