    CSI - Break Room

I remember it as so much cooler, but it's been a while since I lived there. I love going back though, it just feels more home-y, wherever in the States I go. Which is probably strange considering it's so huge and I only lived in Georgia! Hope you enjoy your visit! I'm sure people will try to make you feel at home and be ever so friendly, and you'll love it so much you'll never want to go home... Just my opinion...

The 'ship cap is from the end of, I think, Crash and Burn. It's the one where Catherine asks Sara to go for a drink after all the Hank stuff. The one below it is from Organ Grinder.

I meant body, I think. Just got a new keyboard that's split in the middle and it's making my typing REALLY dodgy. Sorry!

    CSI PICS

Yeah I have that pic on my hard drive, but thanks :) It's a lovely welcome pressie. I'm just gonna go find more of my fun shippy ones on PB... I say slashy, though they're mostly just pics of Marg and Jorja together, or screencaps of scenes with both Cath and Sara... I think this is my fave of the two of them together. That wasn't manipped, anyways, The moment that spawned a thousand C/S fics :) Lots of pics are good, I think I heard someone say... So lots of pics there are... Just wish my notebook wasn't dead right now, cos then I could really show some pics off lol. Anhd I could even post non- Jorja/Marg ones...

Liver temp is unrelaible I believe for various reasons, but obviously I'm not an expert, I'm still studying. It's dependent on outside temp, temp of body at death, and a few other things. To quote directly from my textbook, "Algor mortis is the cooling of the body that occurs after death, assuming the ambient temperature is lower than body temperature. The general rule of thumb for a nearly nude body exposed to 18-20 degrees C is 1.5 degrees C of temperature drop per hour for the first 8 hours. The normal body temperature is 37 degrees C. Thus, if a doy has been dead for 6 hours, the temperature will be 28 degrees C. Unfortunately, the temperature may go up or down from 37 degrees C right before death, which can cause the estimates to be wrong." Yeah, but though I'm working from an American written textbook right now, one I read by an eminent British entomologist said almost the exact same thing about TOD. And I'm actually studying in the UK. Protocol is almost certainly VERY different though I don't think the actual science changes all that much. I was advised the textbook I'm using by a lecturer here, and I brought it from the University bookshop, so I don't think it would have been advised or in stock if the science and issues were too different. I could still be wrong on some of these though, so I'm happy for people to correct. Just fairly sure I'm right on the TOD, for both countries.
  6. Your mileage may vary - basically you may have another opinion, it might be different for you. Have no idea where I picked it up, but I think I spend too much time on posting boards. Okay, alternate ending to S6. It's not so much an alternate ending as a slight variation on the ending that was shown. If you know how filimg works, you might understand it better by the master shot (that's v. difficult to edit) was done a few hundred times, with vary little variation from what was shown. Then it was done another few times, but instead, Grissom went in for a kiss after his monologue. Apparently it was quite split on whether the kiss ending should be used or not, and obviously they came down on not, although that was what my friend was fairly sure would happen because it was the more powerful people who didn't want it used, or that's my interpretation of what she said. So glad that decision was made. Again, YMMV. There was also apparently another slight variation, where Jorja said nothing at all in response... but nothing was ever really all that different from what we actually saw. Font of useless info, that's me.

    CSI - Break Room

Well, an online friend. Never actually met her, so I'm trusting that she's telling the truth Lol. She seems to have a load of info, so I'm going with the truth until I get proof otherwise, and I don't think that's gonna happen. Not so much anymore... I only wish. I go back quite a lot, but I haven't lived there for a LONG time! Can't wait to go back though. I'd be at college there if I could afford International tuition fees, but alas, I can't. I'm heading home soon as I can though... Ga = Georgia, yeah I'm a redneck Everyone teases me about that (so figured I'd get it out the way myself), even though I long ago lost the accent. Unless I've been spending too much time round my cousins who still live out there... Oh oh! I'd totally come with you if you ever wanted a random holiday companion! Lol. I'm just generally always looking for reasons to head back... NY and San Fran are cool, LV is great, but I was only little when I went. I remember things like the golden crocs at (I think) the Mirage. And the Pina Colada volcano totally exists! Was all happy like "Hey, I BEEN there when that was mentioned in CSI. :) LA rocks, I'm heading back there at Xmas hopefully, to visit my ex, who went to AADA Hollywood last year (it's name has changed since though, and he'll now be going to AADA Los Angeles... Doesn't sound so cool, huh?)
  8. Aww, I think Jorja's voice is sexy... Each to their own I guess. I'd kinda like to meet Gary Dourdan too, but Jorja's number 1 on my wishlist!

    CSI PICS

Howdy... more pics for people... Marg There shall be a Jorja post in a little while... once I've whittled down my hundreds of pictures to the most gorgeous ones.... Jorja Pics... the most beautiful woman on TV... God this picture is sexy... Gorgeous smile this woman has... shame she doesn't get to use it more in the show! Last one Honestly, 5 was the least I could whittle the ones on Photobucket down to. Good job I don't have the entire library of Jorja pictures saved there. It could have taken months to get it down that small. EDIT: This was intended to be 2 posts... maybe I posted too close together? Forgive ma, dial-up users! Please.
  11. Totally agree that Sara and Grissom have no chemistry. I have my own theories on why that is, but the one of the main ones is that, to me, Sara just seems to have a bad case of hero worship, and Grissom doesn't treat her particularly well at all. Other than that, they're too similar I think. I just don't see any passion there at all. YMMV, just my opinion.

It's "An Introduction to Scientific and Investigative Techniques." It's an American book, so maybe it's different in America to here, but I can't recall anything said in a lecture to contradict it. But I've only just finished my first year and we've been focusing more on the actual science that the protocols, so that could explain it. The textbook hasn't really been needed that much this year, it's more for fun and cos I knew I'd need it next year when we start to focus a lot more heavily on the Investigative techniques. I'll trust you on this one, my knowledge is most definitely not complete, or infallible...

    CSI - Break Room

Hey Just saying Hi and adding some info about me... realize I'm a bit late on this one, but figure I'll add it anyways, seems a little rude to know stuff bout you guys when you know nothing about me. I'm Rachel, will be 20 on October 10 this year. I was born in Atlanta, Ga, lived in various countries but am now splitting my time between Liverpool (for Uni) and Milton Keynes for home. Can't wait to get back to the States though... I'm studying Forensics, so I tend to get a bit uppity about inaccuracies on the show, but it hasn't stopped me watching yet. I speak a few languages, French, and Swedish being my best, but with a little Spanish and German thrown in there too. I didn't even know about the show until a couple years ago. Well, I say I didn't know, but it's more a case of hadn't really paid attention. I knew about it from a friend in LA who works for CBS, and often has occasion to be on set. She knows Jorja pretty well, and from stories she tells me, she's an absolutely gorgeous person inside and out. I've always been into Forensics, and when I went to live with my Aunt and Uncle for a while, they got me into the show. I've been quite obsessive ever since. I remember being devestated when all the sacking stuff went on in 2004, but thank God that got sorted... what would I do without my Jorja fix? Lol. My favorite character on CSI is, unsurprisingly, Sara. I just think she has so many layers and so much passion and depth. Doesn't hurt that she's hot either. I tend to ship Cath/Sara, but I also quite enjoy Cath/Grissom. [MUSIC] HANSON! I'm a Hanson freak, love them to death. [FILMS] Memento, Velocity Trap, Hungry Batchelor's Club, Chance, Mulholland Drive, Lovers Liars and Lunatics, Species... pretty much anything with either Jorja, Amber Benson or Marg in really... [HOBBIES/INTEREST] Forensics! Football - I'm a Liverpool FC Season Ticket Holder, kills my bank balance, fills my heart! Reading, Writing, Film, Theme Parks, French, Swedish (I love speaking that language) and traveling. [DRINKS] Coca Cola... and only Coca Cola... well, and water too. [i'D LIKE TO MEET] Jorja Fox (working on it) Amber Benson (again) Steven Gerrard (properly, have seen him in passing, but would love to talk to him for a while), Hanson. [TELEVISION] CSI (Vegas only); Buffy; Angel; Friends; Red Dwarf; Men Behaving Badly; Two Pints of LAger and a Packet of Crisps; 8 Simple Rules; Sugar Rush and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. And all the forensics shows on the discovery channel. [HEROES] Jorja Fox, Amber Benson, Henry Lee, Z. Erzinclioglu, H.L. MacDonell and S.H. James. Oh and Joss Whedon, kinda... [PICTURES] Me on a horse in Sweden a couple years ago...

    CSI Goofs

I have about a thousand goofs for Vegas - for people who have people who have actually been Crime Scene *Analysts* on site, the writers sure mess up their forensic science a lot... I love the show to pieces, but I watch more for Jorja these days than the science... forensics training really makes you notice the problems... Here goes... 1) From "Feeling the Heat" - The major issue for this one is that the lab finds organophosphates in the baby's system. When Catherine searches the family's shed for pesticides, she takes a bottle of weed killer- you wouldn't. Organosphosphates are insecticides... not weed killers... and yes, they are VERY different chemically. Even if Catherine's not to know that, you'd think they'd tell her exactly what she's looking for... 2) This one's not really a forensics issue, but it is science... Grissom's hearing condition (ostosclerosis) is not irreversible... There's an operation called a stapendectomy which can reverse the condition. 3) They RARELY mark or identify evidence, and the kind of evidence packaging is often completely wrong. When collecting evidence, the proper procedures are normally to place evidence into a primary container, which is then sealed, and then this container is placed inside a secondary container. The outer container should then be marked with information about the items contained; identification of the collector; date; time; and location of collection of the item. Evidence tape completely covering the opening of the outer container is then added and marked with the intitals of the collector and the date and time of collection. 4) ALS are not used nearly as often as shown in the show. When they are used, it is primarily used to detect hair, fibers and body fluids. 5) CSIs do not interrogate suspects in homocide or any other felony offense, and they're not trained to do that. Legally, the case would most likely be thrown out of court if this happened, as proper procedure has not been followed. 6) When the CSIs sit in on autopsies, they rarely wear any kind of mask or eye protection... it doesn't normally happen, and even if masks aren't worn, eye protection should be, because you never know whether the victim has some kind of disease carried in bodily fluids, such as HIV. 7) It is impossible to determine time of death to within an hour or two, as is often done in the show. Normally, the best they can give you is a 6 hour window... oftentimes this isn't even possible. 8) Where homocide is concerned, the CSIs would not be allowed onto the scene before the Medical Examiner. 9) CSI seems to think that a Medical Examiner and a coroner is the same thing... it isn't. 10) They often talk about the hyoid bone being broken in cases of homicide by strangulation. It very rarely is. Yes, it is a sign that the death was caused by strangulation, but as it rarely happens, it's not one of the first things that will be looked for in autopsy. 11) Timings are of course a major issue, but we expect this. I mean, how can they fit a 3 month wait for a result on tox testing into one hour of TV? They will do this to add to entertainment, and of course they have time constraints, and it doesn't really bother me, but I know a lot of people who have real issues with it. 12) A Crime Lab will normally be working up to a dozen cases at one time, rather than the 1 or 2 that CSI normally shows. Again, I realize that time is a constraint... but maybe just a little bit more activity around the team in the lab? There are hundreds of others, but I'll have to rewatch CSI to pick up on all of them again, and I just don't have time right now to watch 6 seasons and analyse them...

  17. Howdy, just wanted to add my 2 cents... I'm a Cath/Sara girl all the way! However, I do sometimes read Gil/Cath. I don't know why, I just have a few issues with GSR... maybe it's cos I want Sara all to myself? Hmmm, but then why do I love her with Cath? It's a mystery... As for the Season Finale, all I have to say is... I knew what was gonna happen, found out for sure the night it aired in the States, and I have an online friend who works for CBS and was working on CSI when they were filming that ep, who warned me and said that *that* scene had two versions... but I was still hoping it wasn't true. Just DAMN glad they went with the version that aired... not sure what I would have done if the *other* had been chosen... Tried to be subtle, so's people who've seen it know what I'm talking bout, but people who haven't don't, but feel free to edit if I failed... Rachel
  18. Jorja is just amazing! You guys heard the interview with her on Radio Five Live that aired May 18th (when she was in the UK)? She sounds lovely... and man, that voice... And she's a perfect actress! Have you seen the ER outakes on purejorja? You've got people like George Clooney messing up big style, and Jorja's perfect every single time... God I love that woman...
  19. Jorja! Jorja! Jorja! Heard she's lovely, and she's pretty damn hot too!
  20. Howdy there. I'm an MK native, so you want any tips about anything other than Collectormania itself (which other people seem to be giving you fine, but I can help with too if you want) feel free to drop me a line at hansonrule4eva @ msn.com (sorry bout the spaces, get too much junk as it is). I find it's definitely worth going every day, but I live here, so it's not an issue money-wise. If you can afford, it definitely stay all 3 days. I can help with directions, lifts etc from the Station, or the Coachway too, so give me a shout if you want anything like that. Rachel
  21. Amber's grand! She's absolutely the loveliest celebrity I've ever met. Have some great stories to tell about meeting her (and her Mom). Last time she showed her latest film (Lovers, Liars and Lunatics) and it was brilliant. I imagine she'll bring copies of that and Chance, as she normally brings Chance, and you can get LL&L from bensonentertainment.com. Was so upset when there was that mix-up last year. Was so excited about meeting her again, even emailed her Mom about it. They're both so lovely... they wished me luck for Uni in the reply. Will definitely be heading back home from my second year in Liverpool only 2 weeks after the semester starts, just to see them again! Pain in the butt that Collectormania is when it is, makes my weekend at C10 so much more expensive having to get back from Liverpool, when I live 10 minutes from the center, but Amber's sooo worth it! YES!!!
