  1. Know this is a bit crazy but why not put ALL the info on ONE site call me mad but it seems to work for others!! We are just over 4 weeks away NO info on start or finishing times NO info to be exact on if you can get personal stuff signed NO info on ANY type of sched NO info on numbers attending and NO info on whos autograph you get this RANDOM stuff makes no sence! Come on guys give us an update!!!! Precisely the reasons why I still haven't booked. It sends out a message of being far from set in stone. I don't see how there can be so much uncertainty surrounding an event that's happening in 4 weeks time...
  2. I agree. Updates here please.
  3. ...and the more people who don't book tickets on the off chance that it is postponed or cancelled (both of which cases would offer a refund of event ticket money) the more likely it is that the event IS postponed or cancelled... Not making non-refundable travel or accomodation arrangements is one thing, but not buying a ticket because it might get cancelled seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy type deal. Not really. It's more a case of being cautious. As I said in my previous posts - 6 or 7 years back I would not have hesitated, but more and more with the franchise specific events we see them announced and then cancelled. If SM are running an event, they shouldn't do it purely on the uptake on basic information only. If and when it's a serious event with a growing guest list and more accurate detail around what will be happening then I and plenty of others will book. Of this I am certain. The problem is it seems that SM have the idea that they'd like to run an event relating to a specific franchise, announce it and then hope that people will invest in it without knowing the detail. It just doesn't happen in this economic climate.
  4. And there the catch is if you do promote it to your hearts content in the meantime without already booking yourself, everyone else might buy a ticket so you end up missing out. There's no danger of this being cancelled. But if anyone else announced a Star Wars event and launched it with one guest nearly everyone would wait for more before booking. Jason's history with the franchise means people don't have to worry here; they know he can get the guests and do a good Star Wars show In some ways I'd say it's harder to promote an event on the promise of maybe more than 12 guests, when there's only 1 so far, than it would be general promotion. e.g. around 12 is hitting the target, more than 12 doing better than hoped, so nowhere near 12 sounds artificially underperforming. I'm not doubting the ability to organise events and put them on, but I have seen previous Empire Day's announced only to then fall by the wayside. And let's not forget that there have been many other non-Star Wars related events that were specific to other franchises that have been announced and then postponed/moved to another date or cancelled alltogether. It's a catch 22 situation. I would have been more confident booking tickets for an event announced by SM of this nature 6 or 7 years ago when very few of their announced events bit the dust. I just can't make the commitment until I know the event is 100% going ahead. If that means I miss out because I choose to wait until I know it's actually happening, then so be it. A lot of people have to prioritise their cash these days - I can't be booking event tickets, transportation and probably a hotel while there is a chance of the event being postponed. I'm sure there are many others who are in the same boat as me on this one.
  5. With all due respect, Dufrense, it generally helps if people know what they are paying for and who they are paying to meet before they part with cash and start making travel arrangements, etc, for events. And I say this with no prejudice, but, it's not uncommon for events of this nature to be announced on these forums, have a number of tickets sold for them and then be cancelled a month or so down the line. In fact I'd say that the show specific events seem to have a very high probability of falling into the "postponed" or "cancelled" category. There are loads of Star Wars fans who would love to attend an event like this - we've been without one for years, but until it's set in stone and more details and a firmer guest list is announced, I simply cannot justify parting with the cash and making the travel and acommodation arrangments that I would need to. So, I'll be sitting tight until I can be confident that it's going ahead and with a schedule & guest list worth making the effort for.
  6. She is simply glowing. Simply glowing.
  7. Might I suggest SM looking to get people who were involved in some of the key battles? There is (as far as I can tell from Wiki) an active 8th army veterans association that would no doubt bring many a tale of battlefields across North Africa & Italy - http://www.eavm.co.uk/ Time is running out for us mortals to share in the experiences of those who participated in the war. I think this is an area that SM should really focus on for future events.
  8. I echo Spocks-Brain - a lot of those suggestions would be superb. I also think that music is vastly under-represented at events. You see the very odd music guest every so often, but when you think of the amount of musicians, retired pop acts, one hit wonders, former band members, pioneers, composers, producers, etc, etc that there are out there, we really haven't even started to scratch the surface! I'd really like to see Autographica focus on this area for future shows. It's always been a very different type of show to the other SM run events and this could set it further apart - after all, it's an Autograph collectors show rather than a Memorabilia/TV & Movie collectors show with guests signing as a side. Would be interested to here from Dave on this & the other SM guys thoughts. Is there something that would be considered prohibitive in terms of bringing music guests in (i.e - from experience, are their costs higher?). I don't really understand the lack of representation in this area and just wonder if a trick is being missed?!
  9. I understand the "serial non-attenders", but when we know this is the case with some of the guests, perhaps SM shouldn't announce until it's set in stone that the actor will be attending. After all, to some people, it's not just the "big" guests that get us coughing up our cash in advance and supporting these events. I appreciate how last minute cancellations do happen, but the fact this was "TBC" from the off, suggests that there was cause for concern over the level of commitment from the off - and I just don't know why they bother announcing until there's more certainty around the attendance of the guest.
  10. May I direct you here: http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index....showtopic=71233
  11. You were right. I asked at the info desk 1st thing and was told they were expecting him to attend on sat, but they hadn't been able to reach him for the past few days so were expecting him not to show up, but if he did they had a space for him.Makes me wonder I'd he was indeed actually booked in the first place - I mean the TBC suggested uncertainty of the announcement from the off! I don't think it's right to make a guest announcement when there is definite uncertainty of this nature. Very disappointed with this whole affair. YEah. Was nice of showmasters to let us know (sarcastic pause) I travelled 3 hours to go and meet Leslie yesterday and had to juggle around extremely serious medication intravenous so I could go. . Not happy one bit. Only went on the vibrato that people keep saying "can we quit all the talk of ....not turning up . They are confirmed until showmasters say otherwise This gets me as well - when people ask for days when not confirmed you are met with responses like "showmasters will update when they know". My concerns here are that SM say thy guests are Only announce when contracts are signed, yet surely if Leslie had signed a contract he would have at least been able to confirm ONE day at time of signing?! I don't believe anyone would sign a contract to attend an event without knowing which day(s) they can attend. Do SM think the majority of their paying customers are thick or something?!

  13. What's the chance of any new guest announcements there as well?
  14. If we can't have Buzz Aldrin, how about getting Buzz Lightyear in his place? In fact, we could have Buzz Lightyear and Santa Clause all in one - I give you Tim Allen....
  15. Sm please clear this up - surely the day must be confirmed by now?!!!!!!!!!
  16. Maybe it's time to stop booking him and look to some other decent main characters from the Star Wars franchise?!!
  17. There might be some more. There might not be some more. There will probably be some more. There probably won't not be some more.
  18. Are there any comic artists planned for this show?
  19. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0428086/ Would be good to have a few more guests who appeared in The Elephant Man.
  20. Any chance of inviting any of the cast from Super 8 over for EMS? It's a cracking movie and while it's still relatively recent release those guys would be a big catch for SM!
  21. Any idea of day(s) yet? As bizarre as it may seem, Leslie is my priority for this event, so I want to make sure I attend when he is. I will need to book hotel & trains so would love to know when he is due to attend. Thanks
