  1. There are a whole load of Northerners for sure who would dearly love to see CM back in Manchester....
  2. Hi Jackie We'd love to know more if you could post an update please? I noticed the last post you made here was back in February?
  3. Im an adult and I will be lapping up every moment of Clone Wars on the big screen again - cant wait! Ive not seen too much promotion for the film though in the UK I think at the moment...so I guess it will be low key....
  4. Hi guys and gals...Ive read this thread with interest and about the new approach. I guess its that 'new broom sweeps clean' scenario with a new person leading the way, so all praise to LadyD who is obviously striving to bring something new and fresh to the cosplay events across the board for SM - not just at GMEX. Thats a big challenge but Im sure LadyD will overcome! However, I have to say that IMHO its disappointing that things that obviously seemed to work well (certainly at GMEX) seem to be getting dropped from what Ive read, rather than built upon. Emily did a great job at the last GMEX with the groups and kept it flowing nicely and is to be congratulated for her efforts. I dont think any of us who do cosplay or costuming do it for the money though or worry about 'splitting' the prize too much (although of course its nice to get something as recognition in what is afterall a competition!). As a costumer myself, IMHO I'd say that we do it for the love and the passion of our interests and the friendship that it can bring too at events - its something to aim and aspire to for many who sometimes struggle to find the courage to stand on the stage portraying their favourite characters. Friendship, support and confidence follow. It brings us together under one roof where we can work together on costumes, support each other, help each other build costumes and express our interests together without fear of ridicule so we can have fun and take our thoughts away for a brief period of time from our daily lives. But we tend to do this as groups, mostly... I will just say, as one of the panel members that judged the event last time on the Saturday at GMEX, alongside Legolassie Malfoy, I personally thought that the groups worked great and looked awesome. Their interaction impressed me and brought life to the characters which helped me when judging. Just my 2p....
  5. My bad - got you mixed up with someone I though I had met.....no worries - good to meet you now though! Good luck with your costumes! Just give us a shout if you need any help or resources....we cant have a bad tempered princess on our hands can we???
  6. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Haha!!! Are you a fellow SW costumer? Ha ha!! Yes, Im the CO of the costuming group you just joined - the Rebel Legion? We met at GMEX recently and have met many times before.... BTW - thats an awesome costume you got there Andy - there are very few Endor troopers in the UK, a couple of people I know currently building them.....but that looks great!
  7. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
  8. Of course you can! heres the link to the pic.... http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y212/edge...cosplaygmex.jpg
  9. Hi peeps - I just wanted to drop by and say a big hi and thanks to everyone for a fun time at the GMEX - especially Emily and the Cosplay crew who looked after us so well (thanks for lending us the hairgrips too! ). There were three Star Wars groups who come together regularly at events under a joint group called 'Docking Bay' - Fan Force (a website for the social side of Star Wars fandom), Rebel Legion (for the 'good guys' of the Star Wars saga) and The 99th Imperial Garrison (for the bad dudes of Star Wars!). We thoroughly enjoyed judging the cosplay contest too - but it was a tough decision - so many great costumes! Well done to everyone - great effort! We had a great time interacting with some of the anime cosplayers and just wondered if anyone would like to work together again at one of the next SM events? If you have any ideas or things that you think we could do together at an event then please feel free to drop them in here? We love to entertain the SM public and think we could have more fun and get more people involved
  10. Caroline Blakeston - because she's British, she's Mon Mothma for gawdsake and shes a lovely funny lady! I wish I could have spent more time chatting with her at CE....lets have Caroline there pleaeeeese?!
  11. looking great - cantwait to see all these costumes around!
  12. ...just to let you guys know that there will be a large group of Star Wars costumers at this event...from both the 'Lightside' (Jedi, Han Solo, Ewoks, etc) and the 'Darkside' (Vader, Palpatine, Stormtroopers, etc)....we always look forward to doing events like Collectormania - the people there always rock! Looking forward to seeing you all there again - cant wait to see our HP friends again! People will be attending from Rebel Legion UK, The 99th Imperial Garrison and Fan Force UK
  13. Clothears are great people - they make absolutely superb costumes and are the nicest people you would ever wish to meet. Ive seen a lot of their work close up. Stick with it and be patient - well worth the wait.
  14. Great to know that the public appreciate us being there!
  15. ......sits back in eager anticipation.....who...?
  16. any news on guests for this event at all???
  17. Depends where you live to be honest Jerrico....try google for.... - if you are in the Norwich area, the Norwich Star Wars club - if you are in the Manchester area, the Hyde Fundraisers - if you are in the North West, try The 99th Imperial Garrison - if you are in the Devon/Dorset area try The EXE Wing Fundraisers ....or the Rebel Legion Elstree Base? (I think I know some guys there... ) All of the above are independently ran clubs with no pressure to attend events and fairly loose/flexible on the 'rules and regulations' front...of course, all clubs have to have guidelines for safety and a reasonable level of quality, but I think the trick is to have a look around them all and just see what suits you....thats what it all boils down to... When it comes down to it, all these clubs rely heavily on an ethic of fun, friends, forums and fundraising. Hope this helps mate.
  18. Yeah - its a shame that there is no reply from SM really in either of our threads. After several calls to the SM office over the last couple of weeks we seem to have drawn the same blank. Maybe we need to buy a 'dealers' table to get anywhere?
  19. The very fact that people put on costumes is admirable in itself - theres not that many of us really when you think about it? I tip my hat to everyone that 'costumes' and has fun. When it comes down to it, thats one of the most important parts - without it what would we be? I know some clubs set rules and standards, but there are different clubs that operate at different levels - so theres always a group somewhere to suit everyone and its not always necessary to 'join' something official, but just come together with friends who have a similar interest and share in the fun. Keep up the great work and be sure to post up some pics when you get a moment - they are the inspiration for those who still sit on the sidelines!!!! You've been teasing me with this illusive pic for ages - now come on and post it
  20. ...when he walked in with that huge cigar in his mouth, it was like stepping back in time to the A Team...I just wish he had his weaponary with him to sort out that Danny guy....he needs 'removing'. Im sure he has an ingenious plan already for him. GO FACEMAN!!!!
  21. Hi again Aspen! (or any of the mods/SM staff) Can you please help point both my group and other groups who are interested in costuming to support SM at events, to the right person who we would need to speak to so we can arrange this please? We have worked (very well) with Waterboy previously as the main contact, but I understand the process has changed recently since the formation of the 'Fan Area'? Any help appreciated....thanks again for your help!
  22. Yes - we'll be at the March GMEX event for sure, alongside the regular groups that we normally work alongside - 'Fan Force' and 'The 99th Imperial Garrison'. We seem to have a good format at events between the three groups. Happy to help you out - otherwise feel free to email me via our main site (see URL below) Yeah!! Han Solo!!!!
  23. I sense a very common theme here....sooooo.... Dear Showmasters - could we have a costume changing area please at events for the many groups and people who visit the events? (where space permits of course) This would be really appreciated and help us to help Showmasters make the events an even more awesome experience for the public and fans! We would love you dearly! Yours truly, The Costumers x
  24. Great idea Lego! For Star Wars fans who are Rebels, Jedi or other rebellious types of the world....come on over to <click>The Rebel Legion Website<click> We're a fairly easy going club who love supporting Showmasters events and working with the public and are always happy to help people who would like to enter the costuming universe of George Lucas We have quite a few people who are experts (and I use that word realistically!) in costuming across all Star Wars characters (even though our club is Rebel based ) who are happy to help people at all levels - either new to costuming or people who may be looking to improve on what they have. We're also happy to have people on board who are not into costuming but into other areas of Star Wars, such as comics, books and just general film nuts! Often those who do not have costumes can become 'Rebel Crew Technicians' who help out at events too. Have fun and join the Rebelllion! (ps. the little green man says 'Happy Xmas you must have!')
