Other than actors I like in general, for a range of their work/old crush or something, I meet people based on how much their show/film means to me or how much I like their character and occasionally (like in the case of Alex Winter) if they were somehow iconic, even if their main role/film is not a favourite of mine. Also, it depends how much money I have. If I love a show generally, and it has a fairly small cast, I would want to meet all the 'main' characters no matter whether I know their other work or not, though slightly minor/secondary characters it would depend on funds and other guests at the time etc. As for shows like Doctor Who where the cast is huuuuge (even within the Ecclestone-Smith era alone, which is what I watch), then it depends on how much I liked that episode/character etc. For example, I would rather meet Tony Curran for his performance in one episode as Vincent Van Gogh, than John Simm for his major role in several episodes as The Master, because I don't like bad guys much lol and kinda indifferent to John Simm as an actor since not paid much attention to his work. Also, I would rather meet Bernard Cribbins (Wilf) than Freema Agyman (Martha). Unfortunately I could not afford the Sunday so did not meet Bernard Cribbins. When I had the funds spare, I have met people for shallow reasons. At my first LFCC I met one person just because I thought he was cute (i was bored and had more money than sense at the time lol), he ended up turning up in Once Upon A Time, a recent show I got into. Also, I did meet a character from Buffy The Vampire Slayer I was only vaguely familiar with.. again, mostly because he was cute! These days though I have to be a little pickier and sort out priorities, though I may have met Thomas Dekker if I'd had loads more money because he was a little hottie haha. As for monsters/unrecognisable costumed characters... it depends on the character. For example, because I love Labyrinth so much I would happily meet either of the people who alternated wearing the Ludo costume, and i'd love to meet the woman who was Hoggle. I've also met Kenny Baker. I wouldn't, however, want to meet a random Dalek or Cyberman or Ewok or other un-named/insignificant 'one of many' monsters/aliens etc. Really though it's whatever floats your boat - getting 'extra #1' or 'that dude from that one scene' makes no sense to me but if completists can afford it then I suppose who are we to argue? haha. Just wish I had their funds to use on people I wanted to meet lol.

Seriously, you're going to play that card now? Of course wheelchairs and mobility scooters shouldn't be banned too. They can pay for a ticket and get enough enjoyment out of it as they choose to be there and can be interested in the social/meeting guests aspect and the talks still. To be fair, an outright 'ban' for anything is a little harsh, but there's nothing wrong with thinking it's not a place for babies/strollers. Don't lump all people who agree with that in the same group and act like we are completely unreasonable for thinking so. Like a lot of things, it's not that black and white. It's just that events like this are for quite a niche crowd - family friendly in terms of atmosphere and over 18 material being censored, sure, but it isn't exactly what I'd consider a 'family day out' with, as you say, some of the people that are rude and shove, and all the queuing/huge crowds, heat, etc. I do think it is predominantly a collector's/serious fan event, hence 'signing event'. If I had kids that were very little I'd rather take them to places like zoos or the park or the beach, then take them to something like this when they are older and have expressed interest.

Oh I agree it should be family friendly and I don't mind people bringing kids to the events at all - if they can walk round themselves and get something out of it, and actively move out of the way if someone needs to get past. It was hard enough getting through the crowds when there's no backpack wearers (I wore one for a brief while on the Saturday after collecting it from the cloakroom as I needed to change outfits and couldn't spare the change to put it back in again) or buggies. I don't run. I queue. It's ridiculous to assume that everyone finds them a pain is somehow anti-children and make stupid comparisons like 'maybe we should ban children from toy shops too' or presume that we are the same people who moan about everything and are generally rude to everyone at the event.

Just wondering if there will be a talent show again this year. I remember there being one last year and they were going round looking for last minute sign-ups but I chickened out/had a clash. Now i've done LFCC I've got the bug and want another go, this time hopefully with less nerves!

..So they should be. Events like this are no place for babies who will cry and take up room when they're too young to even be remotely interested. Kids should be put in daycare for something like this... It's crowded enough without prams taking up room.

Oh other big events that are more anime-based have whole Yaoi sections that fangirls of all ages flock to lol. Like I said, if anything I think it is the guest's talk content that may not be suitable for all ages and maybe a disclaimer about SM not being responsible for the guests' language so take children at own discretion could be handy but I'm sure it is fairly rare that people like Robert Maschio get up and make a load of dirty jokes/lewd comments, haha.

Loved your performance. Wanted to say so in person but you seemed to be with mates, as was I. Also, at one point during the day I saw you and thought you may be cosplaying as Silent Bob but wasn't sure if that was just your normal dress, hehe. Stiil, yeah, good stuff. You in a band or anything?

Yeah, small children should be considered carefully because of the crowds and all the queuing - would not necessarily be fun for them. Whilst I don't care what the stalls sell - as people have said, as long as the stall-holder is responsible then it is not an issue - but I was in the Robert Maschio talk and as it was in a fairly open stage I remember thinking I wouldn't like my hypothetical kid to be overhearing this! So to me the only issue with children is the guest talks, whose language cannot be controlled aside from a quick 'tell off' look from crew. Saying that I'm sure most would take families into consideration. Robert was just a rare one that was more like an adult stand-up comic than an actor giving a talk/Q&A haha.

At 16 he is hardly a child... yes, there were children wandering around, yes adult stuff should be hidden a little so that only those of age can investigate further but it definitely does not 'have no place'. I noticed on one of the small press comic stalls there was a note on one of their comics that said 'this is ruuuuude'. As long as they are somewhat censored/come with age warnings then there is no problem in my eyes. Comics/manga/art etc can have nudity and sex without it being out-and-out 'P-word' (even if some may use it as such - whatever floats your boat!). Even if very explicit adult material is available from dvd sellers, it technically still counts as 'film' and SM cannot really have much control over what is being sold, just insist that the adult material is somewhat obscured/given warnings, as it seems to have been.

I loved the idea of the masseurs being there, thought about it but didn't wanna ask them how much they were charging and then I kinda got distracted, haha.
