  1. Afraid I wasn't that impressed with days four & five. After day four, I was saying 'There has to be some sort of plan - Jack & Ianto can't really have just planned to walk up to the 456's tank and point guns at it - there'll be some clever secret plan'... No, apparently not. Ianto's death was a bit pointless, just when he was getting some background detail, and we've lost a character on primetime TV drama that was LGBT, and his sexuality wasn't central to the plot, or shocking or anything, it was just part of the person. We need more people like that in telly... The PM's instruction to Frobisher was totally unnecessary dramatically, except to prove the PM was evil, which we'd noticed. Jack's grandson didn't need to die, as this is sci-fi - the premise is whatever the writers say, and technobabble can justify any deus ex machina. The first season of Torchwood was occasionally brilliant, but was so often not quite as good as it could be... Season two was much better, and I'd hoped the show was really starting to fulfil it's potential. Not like this it isn't - we're back to occasional brilliance which could be so much better.
  2. Hi Cryssie - Jon here. Great to see you again, and catch up with Nicky, Erykah, Jo, etc. Best bits for me were the dancing (Thanks Heather!), meeting new people (Hi Steph!), & explaining my unerring failure to pick the winning team in the Superbowl. I've added an address to my profile here if anyone wants to say Hello. Oh, and the guests were good as well. Matt & Burn especially so. Only regret is that I was too shy to approach a girl I keep seeing at these cons, but I can't talk to... Ahem. Thanks everybody who helped with the con, and see you at Hub 3
  3. I didn't go in, and in retrospect I was right, as I would also have been very uncomfortable with that.
  4. Born to Hand Jive & Doctorin' the Tardis are the reasons I always get bruised thighs after cons...
  5. Erm, I'm kind of hoping to see a girl I saw at the Hub but couldn't work up the courage to talk to her... and talk to her. That's it, really. I know... What am I like...?
  6. There's also 'How low can you go' I think it's called? I love that one... Also con dances to: Tragedy (Steps) Saturday Night (Whigfield) Swamp Thing (The Grid) I also vaguely know one to Ghostbusters, if anyone else knows it... Bound to be others... Speaking of cheese, I recently bought a CD from 1999, which has two tracks I hadn't heard for ages - Steps 'Loves got a Hold of my Heart', and the Cartoons with 'Witchdoctor'. I've actually got a dairy intolerance, so I really shouldn't listen to stuff this cheesy...
  7. Well, now I know who took a photo of me on the Friday night... but, my goodness, I look awful. Not your fault Giles - You can only take pictures of what people look like - 99% of photos taken of me are awful. I live in hope I will one day see a picture of me that I like.
  8. Vamperstein, I don't think you were the person I spoke to on Saturday, because I chatted briefly with her on Friday, and I've seen a post elsewhere I'm 90% sure is her, and she sounds more shy than I am. Not sure what to do - if she genuinely doesn't want to know, then she won't appreciate me mentioning her board name... Tricky.
  9. Did I spend some time signing with you sunday night? If so, Hi ! If not... Hi anyway !
  10. There was a girl that I did want to speak to, and I did speak to her Saturday night, just as she was leaving... She wasn't interested. If she reads this, I'm sorry if I embarrassed you. On the plus side, I'm normally far too shy to talk to people at all, so I'm definitely improving...
  11. Friend of mine got a few of you in Jack's office with your feet on the desk - as soon as I find her email address, I'll ask her to contact you (unless she sees this thread and posts them for you anyway...).
  12. Thanks to everyone involved in organising or running the con - I enjoyed every minute. I've been to quite a few cons, but this was my first Showmasters one. All the guests were great, the talks were great (albeit unrepeatable in places) and what can I say about Naoko Mori except: 'Awwwwwwww' Great to meet some new people (Hi to Chrissie, Jo, Lee, Leah and anybody else I met but forgot to ask their names), and get a load of dancing in - somehow I wound up the only man on a dancefloor of over a dozen women, and felt somewhat out of place during 'I will Survive' & 'It's Raining Men'... I'd change my board name to Last Man Dancing, if I knew how... Already booked in for the Hub 2, as are most of the people I know.
  13. Fair enough - still fairly new to this board. I'll be calling Incognito for the comics. On a related note, what are the chances of me finding a CCG vendor with Magic, 1st Edition Battletech, the old ICE Middle Earth CCG (with the Eye of Sauron on the back of the cards), WoW, 1st edition Star Trek, Vs, 1st edition Star Wars, Duelmasters or YGO? or, and getting to the really obscure stuff now, spares from the Marvel Impel & Skypox sets from the early 90's? If some people are likely to be stocking them, then Yay! & I'll find them when I get there. Alternatively, anyone want to bring in their own cards to trade? PM me if so.
  14. Have some posts on this thread vanished, or been removed? I thought there was someone mentioning other CCG shops who might be present...
  15. At two previous Collectormanias, I've tried to buy certain comics & trading cards/CCG cards, to be told 'I've got those in stock, but didn't bring them with me.' Is there any forum for traders, or any way I can get a list of who'll have stalls up at MK, or some way I can advertise what comics/etc I want to buy?
  16. Hi all. I'm Jon, I'm from Cheshire, I'm thirtysomething, and I haven't actually booked yet, but assuming I still can, hope to see you there.
