  1. I know we are all biased by our own preferences but for multi sig I really don't think you can beat a nice picture/poster. You have plenty of time to look around and find a nice one and if you do go down that route and get the main cast I think they look lovely framed and on a wall. With DVD's I think they can be so covered in print and quotes and stuff sigs get a bit lost, it's nice to have the sig without any type underneath. Just my opinion though.
  2. That's true, I've had some nice conversations and jokes with guests when they see who I have or haven't got on a poster.
  3. I go for 8x10's and posters - I usually get individual 8x10's signed to me and keep them in a folder and take a poster or picture that I get multisigned by the cast but signatures only, no dedication. Eventually when I decide a picture is effectively finished (no more room, got everyone I wanted on it, not going to meet any more guests from that show) I'll get it mounted and framed and put up somewhere. I've never had a dvd signed but will get books done on occasion when it's easier than the other alternatives. Posters can be a little bit trickier but I've never had an issue with them, especially if you are careful. The benefit is that you have a lot of the cast in one place and it can look very nice having a framed multi signed picture. The downsides to posters is that if you are getting it signed in colours that take longer to dry you have to be careful how you roll it up when leaving the guest - you don't want it to smudge when re rolled but I find rolling it so the newly signed bit is still exposed and not touching anything for a few minutes works fine. Also if you use the poster for a long time or for a lot of guests you obviously increase the risk of it getting damaged. I do admit a couple of mine are a little ragged on the edges but I'm not bothered by it, it hasn't ruined the posters. The 8x10's can be easier to transport and store (I have mine in sleeves in a couple of folders in a cupboard) and easier to put up - it's often easier to find a wall or space for a little 8x10 than an A1 poster for example, but for putting up I prefer the visuals of a nice multi signed picture.
  4. Lets face it, they are all busy actors so when 1 is free 2 others probably won't be.
  5. Definitely. It seems to me having now experienced the before of 'no clue how it all works' to the post of 'ahh, i see now' that asking about premiers is a bit like asking how long is a piece of string. I'm not claiming to be an expert after 1 event but can really see that there are a few variables to how they work depending on the size of the event. The best piece of advice would be to keep a close eye on official sites for the films for any fan info statements made and main fan sites.
  6. Wow, 12 signatures is amazing! Well done.
  7. Nice. I'm oh so jelly right now. I'm still a Film Premier virgin but would of gone to this if I could just to see what its all about but unfortunately couldn't make it But Im very envious of your success and luck nice This one was a little insane simply because it was such a massive event what with it being the last film - we had to go down on Sunday to queue for numbered bands in order to get in on Monday so it was quite full on. If you wanted to try one, despite the fact that this one worked out quite well for me, I'd advise starting with a smaller one first. Always go expecting to get nothing and hopefully you'll have a good time.
  8. The banks are closed for the day so I'm sure no orders will actually be processed until tomorrow. I'd think you should be fine.
  9. I went to the Hobbit premier and whilst I couldn't see anything of the main events or the interviews I was by the cars as they were unloading so managed to get: Luke Evans Richard Armitage Evangeline Lilly Orlando Bloom Peter Jackson and Benedict Cumberbatch. For my first premier I think I was very lucky and am estatic that I got BC's!
  10. One of the keys to posting stuff as well is to always have a return address on the item somewhere that's easy to find and read. Royal mail do make attempts to return mail that can't reach it's destination for what ever reason and sometimes they do go to quite extreme lengths to reunite the sender with their item but yes, unfortunately items do arrive missing their contents or damaged. As the others have said it's a minority this happens to and to be honest it's something you just have to accept that may, but would be unlikely to happen. It should be all right, but obviously not everything can be guaranteed.
  11. I get it, I reallydo. Personally though I sometimes find the updates frustrating because you get little snippets and think 'yay, it's moving on now' and then when there's no announcement of dates ect it gets a bit frustrating. I know they aren't going to forget about this con, they will put it on so I'd personally rather wait until they have something concrete.
  12. I know it's been said before but they have been really busy over the last few weeks.
  13. Ha! When I saw the heading of this post on the main page feed I thought: Hogwarts?
  14. Another question: as I'm going on my own would it be acceptable for a friend to spell me for breaks? I.e if they effectively just came over at point to keep my place so I could pop off for toilet breaks? They wouldn't stay for the actual event so wouldn't be queue jumping - just cover me and go before the main event? I wouldn't want to pee off everyone queuing around me and would explain that.
  15. Maybe I just got a dud paint pen or should give it a few more goes to see if the problem work out. I have stored them all nib down to stop them drying.
  16. They will announce them as soon as they can. They can't before that!
  17. Thanks Guys, I work in London and have the afternoon off so may just turn up at lunchtime and decide if I'll stay or not.
  18. Any advice for a first timer? I'm thinking of trying to go to The Hobbit premier. I've read through but any helpful hints would be appreciated, particularly how do I find out which Cinema a it will be at - I know it will be in Leicester Square but the info I've found doesn't say which one it will be at. I know it's like asking how long is a peice of string but what time would be best to get there and how does the queuing up work? Thanks in advance.
  19. Well I can report that the Gold Sharpie paint pen is completely useless and will be going in the bin. Held and used as a pen it leave a mild impression of ink on a picture but not in a nice way, it looks like it's running out, it starts firmish and runs out very quickly, not what you want for a nice bold signature. Held upright and with the nib firmly pushed down the paint does flow out, flowing too strongly though leaving solid lines of paint that are thick and runny and sludge brown rather than gold. I did manage to get one good gold coloured line but I really wouldn't take it to a signing as it's more hassle than it's worth.
  20. Keep an eye out on here for a pinned schedule but double check it when you arrive at the venue on Saturday morning just in case there have been any late changes.
  21. After an extensive search around where I live, well 3 shops, I can't find any so I've ordered a paint pen on line and will report on what it's like when I get it!
  22. It's annoying that I can't remember which one it was on because the definately said he's been confirmed but were obviously wrong.
  23. They announced it as confirmed on the TV last night - can't remember which channel, it was either 5 or similar's entertainment round up.
  24. Thanks Tony. This lookslike it could be complicated - I've looked the paint pens up and they have oil and water based ones!
  25. Thanks QS and Nvirtue -they aren't writing really badly, I tried them all out on an unused gloss 8x10 and they were coming out with a bit of a thicker line at the top, a gap and a smaller line, a bit like the ink was laying to either side of the nib but were the nib was it had erased itself if tha makes sense. I may just try to break them in a bit more and i'll take a look at the paint marker ones as well.
