  1. I got 19 autographs and 7 photos this weekend, and all my meets were positive. Of course, some were better than others, but none were 'hello goodbyes'. Also pleased I managed to meet several diamond guests over Friday and Sunday without needing to buy DPs. I think the improved system of allocating specific days gave people a lot more chance to meet the big guests without having purchased a DP this year. Of course, people need to be prepared to stay for most of the day to do so, but by 3.30 this afternoon there were hardly any guests that were not open queues - only exceptions seemed to be Ian Somerhalder and understandably, Val Kilmer.
  2. I went to Hayden's queue at 4pm and whilst i had a valid VQ ticket (I think it said VQs up to 170), a big no personlisations sign was up, so I decided against it on this occasion. Glad it went well for everyone who met him earlier. Sounds like he had a good time so hopefully he'll be back one day.
  3. I can't say enough about Martin Sheen. Such a friendly man who radiates warmth and humanity - had a lot of time for everyone and had to be chivvied on by his pit manager to keep things flowing early on. Yes, he is expensive which may have put people off but I'm so pleased Showmasters managed to get him, absolutely brilliant. Provided his energy doesn't flag overnight anyone who is meeting him tomorrow is in for a real treat - if you're thinking about meeting him, think no more - do it!
  4. Well I must say this year's Diamond Pass gifts are really quite decent - a President Bartlett notebook for Martin Sheen, a pencil case for Christina Ricci and shades for Charlie Sheen. Not sure if that's to mark the 15th anniversary but certainly a very welcome change from the usual prints and mugs etc.
  5. I have to admit I was planning to meet Barbara today but I caught sight of her at her desk when in another queue, and like you say, the poor lady really didn't look like she should have been there today, so I decided to give it a miss - not surprised it caught up with her quickly. Best of luck to her.
  6. The diamond/gold issue in the Gina Torres queue was replicated in the Tom Felton queue, who was another late starter - unlike Gina, he really did look a bit jetlagged/frazzled! I had VQ #9 but was allowed in with my gold pass! Fortunately someone quickly realised what was going on and banished all but Diamond Batch 1s from the queue and got things back on track. But Tom seemed to race through the autos as I had met him anyway by about 3pm.
  7. I echo all this, I met 7 people today and he was definitely the nicest guy of the bunch, a natural at this kind of thing I'd say. But Matthew Lillard and Robert Patrick were good too.
  8. I spoke to a red shirt by his desk today who said he is expected tomorrow - he was expected today at various points but just couldn't get here!
  9. I only had a photo shoot with William today but I was in auto queues either side of him at times and he was much friendlier and engaged than has been reported in the past. I think he'd have been a good meet today for anyone.
  10. Very sad news, was a privilege meeting him at LFCC 2016 - when I had a longer chat at the photoshoot than I have had with many stars at the autograph desk! He was such an inquisitive fellow, a very nice man. It just shows you that you never know when you might not get a chance to see people again - so if you want something this weekend, go for it!
  11. Congratulations to Alfie on finally getting a well deserved Emmy nomination for the final season of Game Of Thrones. He should have been nominated for seasons 3, 4 and 5 when he was the best actor in the show, but better late than never I suppose!
  12. Blimey this is the earliest I've ever seen a schedule before, I should imagine this is the most preliminary of preliminary schedules given there are bound to be a few more announcements and cancellations over the next fortnight. My only thought is that it seems a bit harsh on 88 year old William Shatner and 78 year old Lee Majors to schedule their Friday photos till much later in the evening when perhaps an AM/PM split or an earlier shoot might be better for them, as per Saturday? I'd have thought they'd be very tired by then.
  13. Jason is a good judge of what constitutes a genuine film legend, high hopes for the other two if they do come off
  14. John Malkovich is also here in theatre at the moment. Doesn't seem like the con type, but then all bets are off these days! Christopher Walken and/or John Travolta would be wonderful.
  15. Ewan McGregor has to be worth a punt here, given other guests in attendance. I'm still holding out hope for Ian McKellen, Sean Bean or Michael Caine.
  16. Love these outside the box kind of announcements, really interesting guest. Thanks
  17. I started coming to Showmasters events in 2011 and always get a few DVD/blu ray sleeves signed, all mine have lasted so far and show no signs of fading. For example, I got 3 DVD sleeves signed by John Hurt at the Entertainment Media Show in 2011 and they all look great. However, within a couple of years I was buying 8x10s as well as getting essential DVD sleeves signed, and I protect these in proper acid free autograph sleeves. So SM are certainly getting their money's worth from me!!
  18. Just as long as they aren't all announced on Friday 12 July, I'll be in Hyde Park! I know some people are sceptical but for me, this announcement is unbridled enthusiasm from an organiser who is just as much a fan as we all are. I do think legend is a term that should be reserved for people that have been in the business for a long time though. So I don't think we're looking at any of the younger brigade from your latest superhero franchise, or whatever.
  19. Excellent, have missed him the last couple of times he's been over
  20. Big name guest, definitely a coup for the event. Well done SM. DP in the bag I think...!
