Chiandra
Don't know if you're aware of this, but Natalia Tena will no longer be attending. Well thats a bit of a bugger. I notice there's no 'Guest Cancellation' sticky up yet.... don't suppose it's worth wishfully hoping its not true is it? Overall I feel its been a bit of a let down this weekend, I went along optimistically on saturday but just felt so deflated walking around there compared to the success of Midlands 1 in March which had great guests, busy stalls (the stallholders also much more positive at that one!) and a great atmosphere - by contrast today felt like the opposite. It just seems like everyone kind of gave up a bit on this one, what with the late announcement of guest attendance days, autograph prices, photoshoot days and prices, guest talk times and days, free guest autograph names etc - so much information was left to the last minute to be revealed and I can't see how this helped sell the event to those who were unsure whether to go or not and would have needed to make plans in advance to do so. I don't want my comments to be considered as being overly critical or negative - it is simply my opinion as a regular customer and I just wanted to air my view for what its worth. Psychosis
No, she has definitely cancelled. I crewed yesterday and had to delete her from the photoshoot lists. It was very last minute which is why there's no thread up.
gahab13
surely if the mods have enough time to read through all the posts and delete any that didnt give the show a glowing review then one could have at least put up a topic saying she cancelled? TommyT
surely if the mods have enough time to read through all the posts and delete any that didnt give the show a glowing review then one could have at least put up a topic saying she cancelled? You are assuming that those mods who may have been deleting posts/threads would be party to the information that Ms Tena had cancelled. Since as far as I am aware they have individual brains and are not all connected to some group mindthink, then those mods who are at the show (and therefore are likely to be aware of the cancellation) are perhaps not those mods who are "tidying up" here, since it's probably easier to undertake such housekeeping from a home or work computer than from a laptop in a draughty corner of an exhibition space with members of the public milling around you... Yes, in an ideal world a cancellation thread would be nice, but I suspect that in the throes of getting a show open to the public, the scope for dealing with last minute cancellations is rather restricted. It would be nice if somebody at the show could ring a non-attending mod and let them know, but you can't expect the non-attending mods to be on 24 hour call either. Psychosis
The mods don't put up cancellation posts. Mods are not show employees. TommyT put it better though
gahab13
there are other ways to communicate , a simple text to a mod and they could have posted it here. its the kind of information that could cost people a lot of wasted time and money. are you so out of touch with reality that you think only the borg are capable of creating a network of communication and co-operation. Psychosis
I did post the news for a fact yesterday. Why are we arguing about this? Edited November 2, 2008 by Psychosis
gahab13
I did post the news for a fact yesterday. Why are we arguing about this? actually someone else kindly posted the news but it was deleted. who's arguing? obviously my question must have been deemed a 'negative opinion' and caused certain people to reply with 'smart' comments. sad that this is the accepted code of behaviour from some mods and crewmembers these days. Psychosis
You are complaining that they should've told somebody to post it through "networks of communication". Somebody posted it. In fact, as you kindly corrected me, two people actually posted it.
zebredy
I did post the news for a fact yesterday. Why are we arguing about this? actually someone else kindly posted the news but it was deleted. That seems a bit weird, why would a post letting others know a guest had cancelled be deleted. If I went all the way to the event to see someone who had cancelled and I wasn't told about it when clearly there was time for some people who might go on the web to find out about it, I'd be more peed off that no-one told me or that a post telling people about the cancellation had been deleted then the fact that I had wasted money uneccessarily going to an event I didn't need to go to. Would certainly not help in making me want to come back again.. (Thank god I didn't want to see her) I heard that Richard Dreyfus (excuse spelling cancelled) is this true? thank god I couldn't go last minute. cause that would have really peed me off going there to find out he had cancelled. (excsue spelling) LLAP
Moderators DavidB Posted November 2, 2008 Moderators Share Posted November 2, 2008 Dreyfuss was cancelled on here and on the website. If you didn't check that beforehand, and went along, then that would not have been the organisers' fault.

If you read my post I did say I didn't go, but with so many posts being deleted and the amount of negative posts on her (mine included if you like, not that I think it was negative) I just left the forums well alone till about 2/3pm today, and didn't see a post mentioning Richard cancelling, and only enquired due to someone posting something about it in an unrelated thred. Thank anyway for your reply. LLAP Edited November 2, 2008 by zebredy
Moderators DavidB Posted November 2, 2008 Moderators Share Posted November 2, 2008 I know, and that's why I was referring to if you had gone .. "It would not have been.."
Chiandra
For god's sake, why has this come back to Dreyfuss again? I started this thread to try and get some 'Official' confirmation about another guest's apparent cancellation, having been to the show on saturday I did not want to have to waste time and money to get there and go in again only to find out when I'd got inside that this 'sunday only' guest wasn't coming at all. As has been mentioned before, better communication is all everyone is asking for - like I've just seen in another thread on here we had one price list before the show and now it has become apparent that some of the £10 guests were charging £15 for auto's - someone surely would have known about this at some point and a notice should have been posted. These forum's are used and viewed far too regularly and by a lot of people for them not to be constantly updated with information as important as this. We are told on a regular basis that there is far too much arguing and bickering on these forums - okay fine, use them for something constructive and post IMPORTANT notices!!!
