Hey, everyone. Im attending this year, and its my first time going to one of these events.

Im a big Alien and Predator fan, which is my main reason for coming this year. Too good to miss.

Im planning to bring my Alien definitive edition DVD cases to get signed, as they are in a nice metal tin. My question is, do they have various different pens they can use to sign different materials - or are we expected to bring pens if its something other than photos/plastic?

Ive bought some permanent markers which should write on metal ok, but was hoping they might have some fancy silver/gold markers that would work ok on the DVD cases...

Its a fairly trivial matter, I know, but I dont want their autographs smudging off now do I? lol

Thanks.

At pretty much all the Showmasters events I've been to, the guests have a selection of pens on their desks - at the very least standard black plus a light colour such as silver or gold. The inks are quick drying, though I always give it a couple of minutes before putting my photo away, just to be sure. I've never seen a smudged signature at one of these events.

The general rule of thumb I use is if you want something specific e.g. a particular type of pen used, a picture, book or CD to be signed then it's best to take it with you. Sometimes it means shelling out a few quid for no reason but st least that way it's less likely you will be disappointed.
"You might very well think that, I could not possibly comment"

"Got a rabbit to pull out of your hat Percy? You've got that 'Britain-can-make-it' look about you. Very intimidating."

The guests usually have a selection of Sharpie markers for the autographs which I think are OK apart fom the metalic gold and silver colours because for me it makes the signature a little bit fatter than they should be (gives me the impression the ink runs alittle before drying). I tend to take a selection of pens with me and metalic fine tip paint pens as I am starting to do multi signings.

My advice is the same as Count Foku's get yourself down the nearest stationary shop and spend a few quid on some quality markers then you won't be disapointed.

Ah the old 'which pens?' thread. Wait for the 'autograph storage' thread the day after the show finishes.
