nobbynobby40
Hi all/SM Is the "no posed photographs" thing something that is imposed by the guest's agents, or by SM? I realise that there are professional photshoots if you want something decent, but it is really starting to p**s me off that the guests seem to be happy to have a quick shot taken with us, but then suddenly realise that they are 'not supposed to'. Let's hear a definitive ruling on this, please.
Moderators etmuse Posted June 6, 2010 Moderators Share Posted June 6, 2010 The last time this was asked, SM said that they have never imposed a rule on any guest preventing them doing posed photos at the table. I'm assuming this hasn't changed. They did also say though that sometimes the guests get it confused themselves (or possibly their agent does). Or that possibly they use the 'I'm not supposed to' excuse as way of getting out of having to say to people 'I don't want to'.
nobbynobby40
Myself and others are just starting to think that it's a money-making thing tied in to the photo shoots. This has only started in the last few events. Before photo shoots were a big thing this was never an issue. Please correct me if I'm wrong, SM Or that possibly they use the 'I'm not supposed to' excuse as way of getting out of having to say to people 'I don't want to'. I definitely do not think that's the case. I've had several guests say that it's fine to take a pic with them, only to then remember that they shouldn't. So who's making the rules???? adriangill
Why ask the same question in two different sections? Edited June 6, 2010 by 1of2
Moderators etmuse Posted June 6, 2010 Moderators Share Posted June 6, 2010 As I said, it may be that either the guest or the agent has just got the wrong end of the stick, and THINK they are not allowed to take photos over the desk. At CM16, every guest I had an auto from was taking over the table photos, and all but two of them had photoshoots too.
Queen_Sindel
The last time this was asked, SM said that they have never imposed a rule on any guest preventing them doing posed photos at the table. I'm assuming this hasn't changed. They did also say though that sometimes the guests get it confused themselves (or possibly their agent does). Or that possibly they use the 'I'm not supposed to' excuse as way of getting out of having to say to people 'I don't want to'. No, this has not changed. There is no rule imposed preventing a guest from doing photos at the table. In fact I have some first hand experience on this: I was standing first in a very popular guest's line who was just taking a break and heard his agent instruct the crew to please stop personalisations now because the line was still moving too slow after they had stopped photos at the table. Myself and others are just starting to think that it's a money-making thing tied in to the photo shoots. This has only started in the last few events. Before photo shoots were a big thing this was never an issue. Please correct me if I'm wrong, SM Before that issue most popular guests went "no photos" right away after the first ten people in line or so when it was clear how many tickets were given out. It's always been that way. Elijah Wood for example, or Kate Mulgrew when she first appeared in MK. The events got bigger, so more people are coming in, lines getting longer... possibly more guests are going no photos to get everyone through. Also the guest level has significantly rised (at least in my eyes) since photo shoots have been introduced. And someone like Patrick Stewart would have at no time done photos at the table. I've had several guests say that it's fine to take a pic with them, only to then remember that they shouldn't. So who's making the rules???? Agent and guest - like etmuse and I both have explained above. This is what Jason posted last time this question came up after CM: London - the problem in question was no photos for Brian, Shannon and Bronson Pelletier: Shannon is very much her own boss and she did this event under the conditons of how she wanted to do this , no one has any power to change how she wanted to run , and thats just the way it was . Brian saw how it was laid out for Shannon and just wanted the same , and that was that Bronson is a really great guy and young and his agent back in the US laid out the deal points and what we have to do to honer the contract , we did this to the letter or we would not work with him again , the fact that Bronson wanted to have photos at the table just shows he is a great guy , but the fact we had a contract laid out what we could do and could not do is still a big factor to why there were signs up saying no posed photos with this guest as i have said for years we would like to keep the photos at the table in play for everyone but some times we just are not allowed , and if we push to much on this point we would just loose the guest from attending the event I will close this discussion for now, SM can open it when they wish to comment. You obviously want an official statement, and I'm trying to avoid potential nastiness when someone else posts. Showmasters Admin showmasters Posted June 6, 2010 Showmasters Admin Share Posted June 6, 2010 we do not and never have imposed a no photo rule if you think its down to us you are just very wrong as we want you the fans to get as much as you can out of your trip to our events , and as the pro photo ops are a very different to an image over the table there is no comptition between them both , soem people just want proof that there auto is real and want an image to show this , which we feel it fine , others want a image showing them really meeting the guest and thats what the pro photo ops dose , so we would perfer to have the guest take part in both , but as we do keep saying we do not have control over this , its down to the guests and agents involved . so i hope that help you "nobby the collector" and you can see whe are on the fans side on this jason
