It's hard enough for the show organisers to try to please all of the people all of the time without them slipping in huge puddles of gracefully-expressed thanks. (Or in this case, puddles of "gee thanks but that's not what I actually meant, not that I could have expected you to know that") Welcome to the land known as "Be careful what you wish for". Oh, and describing James Marsters as a Dr Who guest is a bit like describing Paul McCartney as "that bloke who was married to Heather Mills" - technically correct, but I think you'll find he's rather more famous for a previous larger role.
