  1. It's the talks that would make the Gold Pass worthwhile for me, but at the moment I think I'll hold off as there's no talk information yet that I can see... tho may have missed it as I've been looking at the website. Happy to part with the money, with a bit more information on what you get. Again, I may be missing it :)
  2. Thank you for the answer. I'm not used to working between a forum, a website and the eventbrite site it seems! So I should check the forum post for caveats, and have noted these ones. Appreciate your time!
  3. Hello, First of all I apologise if I've missed a post where this is covered. I searched gold + talks and so on but may have missed something. How do you know which talks are diamond pass and not covered by the gold pass? The description says, " some specific diamond package guest talks" are excluded. Does that mean all of them? If not, which ones? I'm just a bit adrift. Any advice gratefully received. Thank you.
  4. :) No the one from today reading 'LAZARUS IS GO' on the @sherlockedEvent twitter.
  5. Soooooo... what's with the post on Twitter? More pointless teasing or a sign that information is due, like, today? Just pondering....
  6. So glad to finally have an update, thank you. Feel dreadful for those left out of pocket. Awaiting info on the new event then I guess, although booked into London IMAX on 15th to see, oh yes, The Hobbit!
  7. stargate_nerd > That's brilliant. You think there might be a Random Rogue Refunder on the staff at the Park Inn just mistakenly ringing people up and refunding their reservation? Really? I booked direct on the phone to the conferencing department using the con rate. I wonder if some people booked via the website or on third party websites in which case perhaps no refund? Or maybe it's a long list to get through. Although I kind of hope the Random Rogue Refunder theory turns out to be true because it's just so.... madcap. I don't see why ME can't explain the hotel business, e.g. "The event is not happening at the Park Inn and we are looking at an alternative venue in Northampton for the same weekend" OR "The event is not happening at the Park Inn, we haven't been able to find an alternative, so we are going to have to look to move it again. Apologies, more news as we have it, carry on about your business." OR "There is a Random Rogue Refunder at the Park Inn. Everything's fine. See you in two weeks. Over and out." Why is that so hard?
  8. Elmo Blues- see my post, previous page. The hotel rang me and told me it was not happening there, and they were refunding my deposit! Seems pretty final to me in terms of location!
  9. Communicating with your customers doesn't have to be about announcements, it can be just checking in or explaining the current situation. The first thing I knew about this was yesterday, followed by hotel cancelling the booking today with no contact from the organising company at all. This is very poor customer care. Come here to find moderators left holding the fort with no information, and unfulfilled promises of announcements. Unimpressed.
  10. Just had a telephone call from the Park Inn to say they're cancelling my reservation there as the event is no longer being held at their hotel, and that they will be refunding the money to my card. Some news from the actual organisers would be really quite welcome right about now....
  11. I would buy a ticket if David goes. Not bothered about JRD so much. Would rather have just about any other cast member in fact. You need some guests though because an awful lot of us in LotR land are holding off until we see more than one guest listed. It's discussed on the LotR forums I'm on reasonably often. No one's booking until we seem some more information, especially after what's happened with German Ring Con It seems weird you're asking this though because both of these are 'name' guests so surely quite a few people would be interested. Especially with David after '300'. Good to see some movement at last though
  12. MPHarris and Persephone1: Many thanks for taking the time to explain those things to me. Both answers were very helpful *s*
  13. Hmmm... I spent £15 on photos on a stall. £20 on a Dominic photo session and £20 on a Dominic autograph for a friend. £1.80 on a can of soft drink - the horror!! Youth Hostel: £26.50 Train: £16 Entrance £10 Tube/bus travel £4 Cloak room: £2 I have very little disposable cash so I have to be careful really. £115 all in or so. Not so bad. At C12 I spent £20 on a figure set, £12 on film cells, the cost of the James Marsters talk, the Billy Boyd concert and whatever it was for a Superman autograph, £20? So that one was way more costly, plus two nights in a hotel and food. I did actually have some more spare cash to spend at LFCC but I was so put off looking at the stalls by the dark lighting it never got spent! Was happy with what I got at LFCC though, which is the main thing!
  14. Hello :) I have a genuine question.. I'm not being awkward.. it's just I'm quite new to this type of thing and I am confused: "I still think that most of the problem stems from people failing to understand the difference between a convention and a signing event. " Now I get that Collectormania is a 'collecting' event, whether it be for signings or photos or Collectables. I went to Collectormania 12.. the talk I wanted to see cost extra, but entrance was free to the stalls and so on, hence making it very clear that this was a 'collecting' event. However I thought that the 'Con' in Comic Con stood for Convention, just that it was a large one with a general remit for many shows. I therefore expected it to be more 'convention like', especially as there were free talks and so on included for different shows and movies. So in essence.. when something like this is advertised as a 'Con', or 'convention', and indeed has that word in its name, how does one know if it is a convention or a collecting event? For example.. Ring*Con* It is called a convention, as with LFCC. There are included talks and events, as with LFCC. There is an entrance fee, as with LFCC. How do I know it is actually a convention or if it is, in reality, a collecting event as people seem to be indicating LFCC actually was? Yours, Humbly Confused
  15. Ah well Brendan... at least you know that someone was appreciating the modicum of sanity prevailing around Dominic's line up area. Hopefully Ian'll see that as well at some point!
