  1. Yes, Count me in. Although someone will have to guide me in how to do this Yahoo thing???? (Planning another dress again...) Jo Please keep me in mind as I can easily be left behind due to lack of computer savvyness.
  2. Hey Thanks everyone! Looks like I'll be seein' some of yous soon! Shame I just missed the Ox moot. Veronwe, looks like we are both TS virgins!!! I hope everyone is welcoming Has your E mail confirmation arrived yet from the TS? Mine has not. I hope they have room for another avid costumer! *Looks over to her newest Elf dress*. Insanity rules! Love Jo
  3. Heather, Well, that is what I have done. I have joined TS. I have also given their website a good going over and the Ox Moot looks like fun. There does also appear to be a group based down here in the SouthFarthing. I am a little daunted as I am not an intellectual please reassure me. It would be great to meet up with you again. I have plenty of costumes to wear! Love Jo
  4. Sounds like a crack to me!! I am going to join as soon as possible. Thanks sooo much Kumo. You have restored some of my insanity! Are you a member? Love Jo
  5. Hey everyone What about a get together instead, a little party or something. It would be great if we could all still get together. Love Jo
  6. I too will miss all you guys. May be one day there will be a LOTR con for us. I think we LOTR fans have had it a bit hard. Sob. To say I am sad would be an understatement. Astonished maybe. sob. Would any one be interested in a LOTR themed party? Just something small so we can all get together and talk LOTR and stuff and have a good time? It would be a shame to loose touch with you all. If we can keep this going it may increase the chances of something good coming out of this. Please! Love Jo
  7. Blimey, It has all gone mad!! You have my support SM. I have put my money where my mouth is and a lot more on costume making for the event. I will continue with my costumes and will enjoy wearing them. Knowing RKUK is happening has kept me going. I have focused fully on my costumes. (SM if you want a costume dispaly I have made too many to wear I do not mind showing them off somehow.) We want this to happen. C'mon everyone where is the Fellowship Spirit. Keep the faith. Love Jo
  8. Well, I have another dress finished. A cute velvet number. A lovely burgundy/garnet red. It has a cloak and a separate hood. Just the shoes to go. LG you saw the fabric at the re enactors market! I hope you are OK. That sewing machine is going to see some serious work! I have a few pairs of shoes to make. That is the hardest bit for me. I like to use proper leather soles. It hurts the fingers. But I may run the others up on the machine. I am beading the neckline to my last one now. It may not be done in time though. I'll just have to work hard! I am bursting with excitement. It is getting sooo close now. AAAHHH...sorry.
  9. YL. I know what you mean. Before I saw Lord of the Rings I had no sewing skill either. But I had such a passion to re create the beauty I saw it inspired me to teach myself. I wore my first creation to Return of the King. And that was simply an old dress I had modified with flashy fabric. So you can just start small. And before you know it the bug has caught you! If you need encouragement we are here. The more the merrier. There will be all sorts of costumes there. It would not be nice if you went and saw lots of people in their costumes and then regret not making one yourself. That may be worse. If you want to be an elf though I have a cool cloak you can borrow! With Love. Jo
  10. C,mon you guys! About three months left!!! aahhhh. How are the costumes coming? I am on my last dress now. It is not going well... Oh well. It is going to be a simple dress with sumptuous fabric. I hope. Now there are announcements for the costume parade we will have to get our skates on. Well, I will anyway. Although I will not be competeing or parading on stage. I am too, er um, shy for that. I would like the opportunity to show my dresses in an alternative format though. Good luck everyone. I hope you are all having fun with it!!! Jo
  11. Horray! Somehting for us who like swaning around as elves and other folk to look forward to. I am with you guys on the performance thing though. I'd rather exhibit my attemps at costume making on a shop style dummy or something. That way people can see the costumes when it suits them. You can get closer to them too. Jo
  12. Eeehh. Hobbit Dancing. I can not wait. See you all there! Jo
  13. Well, I do not plan to wear ordinary 'civvies' all week end! I have made six or seven in total plus one I have not made... yet. I plan to take maybe five. That is not counting my Elven morning suit that I plan to use at breakfast time! There is no such thing as over doing it! I can not get enough of a good thing. He he Jo
  14. SQUEEE!! That's me getting more excited!!!! Thanks SM Jo
  15. Wow. That is going to be totally dreamy! And all those pearls on the bottom. My God! I can not believe it! It's going to be one to look forward too! OOHHH! I'm getting all over excited already!!!!! Don't worry. I will not be wearing that cloak anyway! I have worn it to an event before. Your dress is much nicer than my cloak. You have done more justice to the fabric than I did! I have made no progress on any costumes since my last post. I will have to get to it. It's only five months away. I'd better get busy. Any more news from any one? I am elf dress mad. Have fun. Jo
  16. Thank you Heather. I used a mteallic shot viscose fabric. So it creases too easily. But the result is heavenly. The cloak was inspired by Urviel's cloak. But the dress was designed by me. I used no pattern. But made my own completely. It is so satisfying to make dream like gowns. We all add a little magic to the world. The fabric your dress is made of reminds me of the fabric I used for my dappled blue cloak. Do you remember it? I did not hem that at all. It was a good lazy type of project. But yours looks like the proper job. How are the sleeves coming? They will be beautiful. You will have a great time wearing such a beautiful creation. Fabric world, I bought mine in Fabric Land. They sound similar don't they? Perhaps they are part of the same company. I have not seen that fabric any where else at all. Those velvets sound like they have a lot of potential. Good Luck with them. And have fun! I am still wimping out of starting my last dress. As the design stands at the moment there will not be a lot of embelishment on it. Only five and a half months to go. I hope I pluck up the courage in time. Good Luck and have fun everyone! Jo
  17. ........ er, Thankyou. (looks to the ground sheepishly)
  18. Wow, Heather that's absolutely gorgeous. It looks well dreamy. You'd never tell that's your first dress making venture. You do have a talent for this. It is amazing what passion and enthusiasm can make us do. It's great to add a little more magic to the world. Well done and good luck with finishing it. It looks nearly done. Is it? What else have you planned for it? That fabric is very Elvish. Where did you get it? What is it? Well here is my most recent attempt. http://johanneshorter.bravehost.com/2007.html You will need to scroll down to the bottom of the page. (I do tend to write alot.) All credit to my friend for doing the web site and my husband for the photos. Yep, still putting off my newest dress. I keep finding other stuff to do. I've done dozens of designs and started draping the fabric, etc, but still not ready to make the first cut. I hope I build up the courage before November, hehe. Good Luck everyone! Jo
  19. See you there! I'll bet if you can not get flights you are even prepared to walk! Have fun One Nutty Elf (Jo)
  20. Anyone busy with costumes yet? I'm still planning a cute elf dress. Just got to buy the lining fabric before starting. I get really nervous before starting a dress and keep putting it off. I have finished a lilac number. Accented with Swarovski crystal beads. Well sparkly. Jo
  21. You don't want to hear me sing even when I am sober! I am on Medication so can not drink either, but that will not stop me from having a great time. J20 for me please! Water is boring! Although one shandy should see me drunk at the moment. hehe. Jo
  22. I'm with you guys. I don't drink anymore either. Cor, I remember cart-wheeling down the central reservation of a dual carriageway. MMM. I don't want to go there again now I'm old and respectable! (well Kinda). I am soo looking forward to spending time with like minded people. I am also looking forward to every one's costumes and dresses. There is some awesome talent out there. Ealana, do you want to borrow a cloak? I made a cool blue dappled elven one. Cloaks kinda fit all although I made it for me and I am a shortie. All LOTR Fans together!!! Thanks to all you guys at SM for making this happen!!
  23. Hey, AwayWivZeFaries,.... It's me! You remember? Looking forward to meeting up with you. Jo
  24. Wohoo, I'm even more excited you're coming Away wivzerFaries! I hope we can meet up again. See you there.
  25. We've been away for a while. We only got the code a night before we went away and got on and did everything that night. I did not want to go away and be worried the whole time about booking the room. Jamila, that was me, well, my husband. I'm glad we could have been of service. By the time everything kicked off our post was pages back and I suppose not many people read it. We found that lady very good too. I'd go along with TT. If it is important to you to get that extra night get on and do it sooner rather than later. Save even more disappointment. It looks like it all went bang! I'm just looking forward to seeing eveyone now. I've been busy dressmaking and getting very excited. I hope this is all going to be worth it, some people have had a hard time 'simply' booking the rooms. I hope this is the end of the confusion. Lets just get excited. See you all there!!!!!
