  1. Hows about the legend that is 'Columbo' himself, Peter Falk for Autographica? It's possible he could plug his autobiography at the show or something, and I know he is attending shows in US. While i'm on the subject of 70's, how about: Jack Klugman (Quincy) Jim Garner (Rockford Files) Roger Moore (Persuaders) Lee Majors (6 Million Dollar Man or Fall Guy) Dennis Waterman (Sweeney) Edward Woodward (The Equalizer - about to get a DVD release!) Robert Vaughn (Man from Uncle) Martin Shaw (Professionals) And not strictly 70's, but worth asking for: Angela Lansbury (Murder She Wrote) Robert Wagner/Stephanie Powers (Hart to Hart) Mr Van Dyke (Diagnosis Murder) John Simm/ Philip Glenister (Life on Mars)
  2. Howard The Duck - is available on DVD for the first time in the UK. It goes on sale 18th February. Ideal DVD to get signed by Lea thompson - from what I remember, she was the main actress in it, and my childhood memories of the movie are pretty good!
  3. Some great guest suggestions there - i'd spend a fortune if all 3 of those appeared!
  4. NED RYERSON!! Watch that first step... it's a doooooozy! BING! Am I right or am I right? (right?) Sorry, just a huge Groundhog Day fan!
  5. Personally never had any probs with HMV myself - sorry to hear you have. However, I have had MAJOR problems with CDWOW. I ordered several DVDs from them, paid up front and waited for them to arrive. And waited. And waited. Several weeks later, I contacted them - it seems they are pre-selling items, they do not have and seems they have no intention of ever getting in stock. This has happened to me more than once with CDWOW - the first time was several months ago. The titles I ordered then (several months ago), they are still selling and advertising , but they have never received them from their suppliers, so they cannot possibly ever send to customers. I think they're hoping people either forget about their order or hope they will choose something else rather than a refund. Sorry to rant but they really p***ed me off!
  6. This announcement has made my year!! Here's hoping there will be photo sessions with the great man!! How about some other legendary Hollywood actors to support him (i'm sure he knows a few he could bring along).
  7. Yeah, sorry guys I heard it was Birmingham ( I think this is now definitely confirmed). So as I said, is Tony Curtis still down to attend, as I think the venue and original dates have now changed.
  8. So is Tony Curtis still confirmed to attend even though it's now in Birmingham?
  9. Any chance of getting his brother Bruce if he isn't too busy strictly come dancing on Saturday?
  10. HMMMMMM, well wasn't this a perfect way of generating a lot of interest a few days before the event?? I've got to say, it all sounds a very suspicious way of getting people all excited and talking about supposed guests who were possibly going to attend - but we cannot even be told who they were! I cannot believe big Hollywood agents would spend their time contacting SM about doing a show less than a week before, then say their clients cannot appear. As you can see i'm a big conspiracy theorist!
  11. Kiwi - great suggestions - especially Edward Woodward ( I know his TV show 'The Equalizer' is getting a region 1 DVD release 12th Feb 2008 - how about getting him to launch it in the UK at Autographica 11). Also, I have to say I am a big fan of the 'old Hollywood' stars; any chance of a few of those? For example: Jane Russell Mickey Rooney Jerry Lewis Debbie Reynolds Shirley Mcclaine Maureen O'Hara Peter Falk George Kennedy Donald Sutherland Eli Wallach Karl Malden Jennifer Jones Herbert Lom Jack Klugman Faye Dunaway Robert Wagner George Hamilton Dennis Hopper Angela Lansbury Ned Beatty Robert Vaughn Van Johnson Peter O'Toole Richard Chamberlain Patrick Mcgoohan Louis Jourdan Gene Barry Albert Finney Charles Durning Elliot Gould James Garner M Emmet Walsh John Astin Dean Jones Martin Landau richard Van Dyke Richard Attenborough Dabney Coleman Roy Scheider Or how about some directors/writers/producers: Blake Edwards Robert Evans William Goldman David Mamet Richard Lester William Friedkin Sidney Lumet Hmmm, maybe I should stop now before I get too carried away. I know it's a rather large list (and alot of the names aren't 'A' list actors) - but i'm sure it must be possible to get a few to attend!
  12. You've got bob hope! Actually now that you mention it - Bob Hope is more likely to turn up than Eastwood!! Why dont we try him via a Seance.
  13. I cannot believe you have actually secured Mr Tony Curtis for a show!! I remember posting details on here(including how Showmasters could contact him)and asking for him for Autographica 10. If you pull this off you have made my year. May I be the first to ask where can I sign up for the Gold pass and dinner with Mr curtis !!!
  14. I don't know much about Jane Russell's fear of flying - but I do know she has visited the UK frequently with friends. As for Tony Curtis - he's in fantastic health and has been working on several movies since his illness. Please contact him Showmasters - it has to be worth an email!!
  15. I second that. I certainly would pay.
  16. Under the heading 'I DO HOPE' thread - I posted that I really wanted to see guests such as Jane Russell, Kirk Douglas or even Tony Curtis. Several people replied that they thought it would be impossible for them to attend due to their ages etc. Dave Phillips then added a post that appeared to suggest that maybe one of them was due to attend. I quote "You guys had better check the website on Sunday then!!!!!" So far it doesn't look as if anything has been confirmed though - but i'm sitting here with fingers and toes crossed. Dave, please make it possible for them to attend. I can only imagine the attendance if you did. (Here's Tony Curtis' contact details - http://tonycurtis.com/contact)
  17. Dave Phillips, Does this mean their is even the slightest possibilities of Douglas, Russell or Curtis attending?? If so, you can sign me up for a Diamond pass.
  18. Jane Russell regularly attends signings and autograph shows in the States - and Kirk Douglas has recently done a nationwide book signing/tour, also in the States. These suggestions are not impossible. Another suggestion for a guest is Tony Curtis. He genuinely loves meeting fans and chatting about old Hollywood. Isn't it worth the price of a phone call to his agents to enquire if he'd be interested??
  19. I totally agree. We need some old Hollywood stars - before it's too late (Jane Russell, Kirk Douglas etc). There are loads of Hollywood icons (especially ones with books to sell!) who would probably love the chance to attend Autographica.
  20. Hollywood legend Mickey Rooney is in the UK Sept and Oct - how about approaching him to attend Autographica for a day - I know he attends many such events in the States. Showmasters - here's the link to contact him: http://www.mickeyrooney.com/form_appearance.php Anyone else agree it would be a major coup getting him to attend?
  21. How about the legend that is Jerry Lewis for Autographica. He has a new website which states he is available for personal appearances. I cannot think of a better venue for someone like Jerry Lewis to make an appearance in the UK. Showmasters - i've even sent you the link so you can arrange it with his management!! http://jerrylewis.com/contact.html
  22. Peter Falk's Memoirs 'Just One More Thing' was released on the 3rd April - isn't this the ideal opportunity to approach him for Autographica 10. Also, while one the subject of detective/murder mystery characters - how about the following as guest suggestions: Jack Klugman (Quincy) Angela Lansbury (murder She Wrote) D Van Dyke (Diagnosis Murder) Robert Wagner & Stephanie Powers (Hart to Hart) James Garner (Rockford Files) Tom selleck (Magnum PI)
  23. Ok - this is my first post on here so I hope im posting in the right area! We need some real stars attending, and i think Autographica is the only place that could possibly get them. We need legends like: TONY CURTIS ROGER MOORE DEBBIE REYNOLDS ROBERT WAGNER SHIRLEY MACLAINE STEPHANIE POWERS PETER FALK KIM NOVAK richard VAN DYKE (the message board won't let me call him d***!!) MICKEY ROONEY TIPPI HEDREN JANE WYATT VERA MILES ROD TAYLOR LIZA MINNELLI MAUREEN O'HARA ANGELA LANSBURY JANE RUSSELL JEAN SIMMONS ELI WALLACH ESTHER WILLIAMS ANN MARGRET ED ASNER ERNEST BORGNINE DORIS DAY OMAR SHARIF MEL BROOKS The next lot would do great as backups!!: DOM DELUISE FRANK OZ LARRY HAGMAN BURT REYNOLDS GOERGE CHAKIRIS JOEL GREY BETTY GARRETT RON MOODY What a dream show this would be if only 2 of these guests could appear!!
