  1. Its about quality over quantity for me. I would rather see a few big guests from the US than 20 or 30 who have minor roles in Star Wars or appeared in an episode of Dr Who. Showmasters have to realise that not everyone is a Dr Who/Torchwood fan and maybe they should run conventions specifically for these events. There has become far too much of a focus on these shows at what I thought was supposed to be a Sci-Fi event for everyone. I want to see stars from BSG, The 4400, Lost, Jericho, Star Trek and cult movies etc. I know its not as easy to get guests like this but I personally wont be attending anymore Manchester events if they dont start putting the same effort into the show as they do for Milton Keynes and the Midlands. I think they are trying to run too many shows now and the core events like Manchester are paying the price with a serious lack of quality.
  2. I hope Showmasters give Manchester some decent guests, because it is fast becoming the forgotten convention behind Milton Keynes, and now Midlands which was given far better guests for some reason. I went to Manchester last week and it was by far the worst Showmasters event ive been to, the guest line up was abysmal (the first time I had not one person I wanted to meet) and it seemed like there was half as many stalls to look round. I know a few of the posters here will jump on me for speaking the truth, but im not looking to suck up to them like many do. I was quite angry at wasting £5 because it simpy was not worth it and I expect Showmasters to do a lot better next time.
  3. Oh great, the only guest I was looking forward to seeing. I might not bother now as these events are getting too much about Dr Who/Torchwood, which are both crap shows. I wish the same effort was put into Manchester as it is Milton Keynes.
  4. I also hope that we get some bigger guests for the G-Mex because the last couple have been very disappointing. Its also frustrating that they chose to put Bruce Campbell in the Midlands show ... is Manchester now behind Milton Keynes and the Midlands in terms of priority? Come on Showmasters, start being fair with Manchester and start giving us bigger guests.
  5. I cant believe what I am reading in this thread about Patrick, and snot182 is way out of line im afraid. Patrick does not wish to sign Star Trek related material at the Theatre (who spelt it Theater?!) and he is quite right to be firm about that. No offense here, but Patrick is a real actor, and has a real passion for the stage, so its no wonder he doesnt want to come out of the stage door and be bombarded with Trekkies looking for Captain Picard. He is very proud of his work on Star Trek, but there is a time and a place, so if you want to talk about his thoughts on episode 5 of season 6 of TNG, then this is what events like this are for, not when he is on the stage.
  6. You might find it funny but when you have waited since last time for this event and their is hardly anyone you know, let alone want to see, it is very disappointing. While I understand that its great to have people from classic shows, I want to see guests from shows like BSG, CSI and Lost.
  7. I really do hope their are more guests to be announced, as their are only one, maybe two that I want to see.
  8. DVD is an absolute legend, and I would love to meet him! Infact, dont bother having any other guests, lets dedicate an entire event to him and him alone!
  9. Terry O'Quinn Josh Holloway Matthew Fox Michelle Rodriguez Cynthia Watros Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Michael Emerson Henry Ian Cusick M.C. Gainey
  10. Yes, I am very disappointed by the lineup, it definitely isnt as good as last year. Their are too many guests from shows way before my time, and not enough from current ones. Their are so many BSG guests we could have, or even from shows such as The 4400 or Lost. I am sure this lineup will appeal to some, but for me, it very much lacking at the moment.
  11. Yeah ... I definently think they would be interesting guests to have.
  12. I would love to see both Frank Langella, who played Skeletor in Masters of the Universe and who stars in the new Superman movie as Perry White, and Meg Foster who played Evil Lyn in Masters of the Universe and guest starred in Xena. Both would be very unique and interesting guests to have at one of these events.
  13. I would have to say Terry O'Quinn over any of those poll choices.
  14. Patrick Stewart seems to be a popular one, I wonder if showmasters are reading ...
  15. My GMEX 2 Lineup would go something like this: Scott Bakula - Star Trek: Enterprise Patrick Stewart - Star Trek The Next Generation, Eleventh Hour Terry O'Quinn - Lost Carla Gugino - Threshold Joel Gretsch - 4400 Jacqueline McKenzie - 4400 Gillian Anderson - The X-Files Jeri Ryan - Star Trek: Voyager Alan Rickman - Harry Potter
  16. Yeah way too many SG-1 people, and for us that dont like Stargate, its not that appealing. They really do need to start having more guests from Threshold, 4400 and so on.
  17. Fantastic eh? Thats one of the most selfish things Ive read on here. Many people were going to Manchester to see him but who cares about them, aslong as YOU get to see everyone right!? Things have worked out perfectly for you on this occassion, but I do hope someone you want to see one day pulls out of an event four days before and we'll see how you like it. Things are not right in the world, not while people with your attitude are around.
  18. This is fantastic news, Ive always missed opportunities to meet Brent Spiner before so finally I'll get to meet him. An absolute legend and best character on TNG by far. Cant wait.
  19. I'll be honest, there is way too much focus on anime at conventions these days. Surely we should be looking more at pure sci-fi guests? Too much anime and less quality guests is why I decided not to go to a certain convention in London a couple of months back.
  20. You must not have seen the exact same thread I made a few days ago ... why doesnt anyone read threads properly! http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index....showtopic=24628
  21. I would like to see some guests from Threshold (stupidly cancelled before its time), mainly Carla Gugino. Edward James Olmos, Michael Hogan and Mary McDonnell from Battlestar Galactica. Jolene Blalock from Star Trek: Enterprise. I say it every time and I know he doesnt do these events but Scott Bakula is the top of my sci-fi meet list. Its about time the UK started inviting over guests from the 4400. A fantastic show with a great cast. Possible guests could be Joel Gretsch, Jacqueline McKenzie and Bill Campbell.
