  1. when you say big agents does that mean they are 20 stone?
  2. As per all events, depends on who the guests are. But the dates are fine. Could be popular.
  3. I dont think he would do it, but..............do you feel lucky? Well do ya? Punk! (sorry couldnt resist)
  4. I have met Dolph and although he didnt say much he seems a nice chap! Would be a good addition but prising him away from Marbella may be harder than you think.
  5. Yes more likely to be the case. I hope for an improvement this time......................
  6. Are you serious............. they were due for an event, signed a contract...................I think complaining of a no show is justified in terms of disappointment. If it turns out there is a genuine reason then ok you have to accept it but hopefully this wont be another occassion of a guest prioritising wrong. Did evey other guest manage to appear on time or was it just these 2?? By the sound of it they were actually pretty darn late..........
  7. Me too. And before anyone jumps on my back for asking for a guest to return, ala Burt Reynolds (excuse me all to hell), Brandon would be an excellent repeat guest!! By the way, are they making another Superman with him?? Anyone heard?
  8. But as we've already covered, guests just wouldn't sign this contract at all. So there'd be no guests at MK at all, barring a couple of locals who haven't worked in 30 years! read the whole line and dont just pick bits out, i do realise this and put that.
  9. Part of what I was orginally debating, if we invest money in non refundable stuff then the main guests pull out cause they have other committments means its obviously worth it to them to do it but at the same time people feel annoyed with it. I can see what you are saying Jerkbeast. Its the nature of the beast im afraid, pretty much everyone has replied to the post saying that a guest will cancel if other work comes up, my original point was to put something in the contract to make it more stringent so when they sign it they will appear unless they are ill and we then dont lose funds on hotels etc..... if the guests we want to see pull out. Again theres reasons not to do this but what this post has concluded is that although guests are announced, by no means are they sure to attend. Most guests and agents want acting work, so if we have a guest confirmed months before an event, the more likely in the coming months the agent will find them acting work. Afterall it is their job. I didnt see it this way before this post so I take on board peoples opinions and the way it works and take each major announcement with a more sedated approach and not spend a lot of money on hotels, photos etc........... just in case.
  10. Yeah im in disbelief too, cant wait. Autographica is simply the best!!!!!!!!!
  11. So bascially it is down to the Gods not down to the contract. I do understand how it all works, as I said I was merely starting a topic of debate. Some good points on here. As for the Burt Reynolds thing, if he doesnt come back then so be it, its only a bit of fun anyhow. Its not like im planning to go stalk him or something. Jason, I am not trying to worry new fans by saying an announced guest may not actually turn up, thats a fact, but at the same time I take the point its the nature of the beast that this can happen and its not the organisers fault. The 2 usual do-gooders (you know who you are), thanks for your predictable but obvious answers. I have not attacked showmsters, I attend most events and spend £100's and I take the points of some people on here, but im not afraid to post something just because of what 1 or 2 of you will respond. Some people object and have something to say about whatever anyone writes.
  12. yeah you actually just called people who get autogrpahs morons................??
  13. Kinda OT, but relevant in terms of the "load of Bullochs" quip, is Jeremy's son Robbie still acting? ETA: Apparently Robbie's retired from acting and now works at the Foreign Office...but who knows? Some fair comments guys, although some of you actually agreed with some of it without realising it. Just wanted to put it out there to see what people think. The only one person to make a personal comment was Dufus, unsuprising that but hey. Indio - see where you are coming from a bit now.
  14. what im trying to say is people spend time and money planning to meet the guests who really have no tie ins at all to attend the events at present. Im as annoyed as another board member who has spent a bit on stuff for someone to sign who isnt coming now due to "work committments" Isnt the convention a work committment?? If its not seen this way then there is a problem.
  15. It has been commented previously that guests sign contracts but if other acting work comes up then the actors have a get out clause to do that, instead of honour the contracts they sign previously but id say unless you are willing to put the convention you sign for first then dont sign. Its ok Showmasters saying they wouldnt get half the guests they do if they were not flexible but announcing Christopher Lee, Richard Dreyfuss and Co just because they signed a contract because they have nothing else in their shcedule is very very annoying to people like me who have previously put committments and monnies to events they dont turn up to. Ok, their acting is number one, in that case dont sign up to another line of work and mess people around. The contract should be far more stringent. The whole idea of, if the contract is to strict then they wont sign it, doesnt that mean they will only turn up if nothing else comes up in the mean time.................??? Im annoyed not at the actors who are ill etc... but at either the actors who say , "sorry something else has come up so forget that contract i signed", or at Showmasters for allowing them to have this menatllity in the first place. The usual do-gooders will im sure come out of the woodworks, but im sure some of you know what im saying and feel the frustration. If a guest is announced I find myself still wondering if he or she is going to turn up. This is why my Christopher Lee/Richard Dreyfuss Gold Pass ticket will be my last.
  16. OMG! I only asked for Burt to come back, didnt expect people to start bickering..................
  17. BRING BACK BURT...................................SURELY ITS TIME.
  18. Ive considered the Autographica event to be showmasters finest since the one with Ursula couple of years back. Good to see the guests back on form and cant wait to meet Curtis. Thats a great guest.
  19. All I had on mine last time was his signature and Apollo 11 and it cost £110.00 Expensive but its a big picture in a frame with the Apollo Badge and looks amazing so to me its worth it.
  20. I hear the date will probably change though ...... I've heard nothing about the date changing Dufers, and the March ones are listed on their booklet programme type thing they gave out, plus on the posters they had up today. Doesn't mean they won't though... showmasters, if this guest does come then I will be getting 2 gold passes and 6 autographs.................. This would be the best guest you have had so far!
  21. thats a great guest, well done for pulling that one off!!!
  22. You also have to speculate to accumulate dont you?? Now thats what im talking about lol Great news, cant wait. And yes I will buy a ticket if the guests are good, i will put money where the mouth is :)
  23. Ring Con was disappointing but lets not allow this to happen here. The more guests booked then the more people will come to the event and buy tickets. Andy Serkis was the only guest announced so it was no wonder Ring Con did not set the world alight. Lets get some guests in and make this event awesome and not a LOST cause. (excuse the pun couldnt help it) This event could be fantastic.
