So, if I am reading your post correctly, you think it is fair to say that more than 8,500 attendees were unhappy? How did you come by this figure? I would find it nigh on impossible to attain a true figure without actually speaking to each attendee. If you look at exit polls for elections, or YouGov polls, they are but a small number of people compared to the number who could have been asked. As regards Ms Robinson, you may give her a little too much credit. She but follows a script and telly prompter. She just adds the attitude. Also, to involvde the afforementioned Ms Robinson's programme, you would have to show that the organisers advertised something that was not provided. From what I have heard from attendees, there was disappointment with certain aspects of information and the party decorations. But I have also seen that some issues were due to the actions of certain portions of the attendees. One major issue was the Alternate Opening Ceremony. I am not a Moderator, or in any way affiliated to Showmasters etc, but I feel a majortiy of the criticism leveled at them is that people expected something and did not get it. Prices have been mentioned, but having such a line up is not a "nickle and dime" operation. I have also heard comparisons with the official event held in LV. This is not Vegas. This is London and a first time event co promoted and organised. This is not an exclusive Showmasters event and I feel so many people are unfairly comparing Showmasters exclusive events such as Collectormania, Londond Film & Comic Con and Entertainment & Media Show. Jason and his organisation have sole and complete control of those events. With this event, they have to agree things with the co organisers. I can understand everyone has the right to an opinion. I respect that and always will. But I am seeing many comments on these forums and social media platforms that has become too personal. As has been said before by myself and a few others, there is constructive criticism and then there is venting frustration with unfounded and image damaging accusations against the organisers, and personal comments about VOLUNTEERS. If you, as fans, think that you can do better at helping out at Crewing for these events, then apply to crew future ones and show us all what you have to offer. Jason & Too Tall are always looking for new blood to help improve each and every event. This essay is strictly my opinion. My sentence said that it was possibly fair to say that over 50% of the people using social media, or who are discussing it on the forum, are unhappy or were disappointed with some aspects of the event. You directly related that statistic to the numbers at the show (which I agree is fairly simplistic), but it wouldn’t be beyond the realms if improbability, based on those figures to assume that the figure in that group being high hundreds, or even getting into thousands. But is that your level of success. Having higher than just 50% of attendees feeling the 'experience was value for money', means it was a great and successful show?. I’d like the aim to be slightly higher. As for Watchdog, join up the dots, and ask if this was any other form of entertainment at these kind of prices, and would you find it acceptable.

I have to say that under the scale of complaints it would be crazy to even consider deleting them. They’re getting it from all angles, here, it’s all over facebook, it’s on twitter…..I’d say the scale of ‘unhappy’ customers is a little bit too strong to use the usual tactics. This is soon going to be damage limitation time…. this place could go crazy when everybody gets home!

I was pleased by the attendance. It was busy, but still had that relaxed feel about it. I thought that it proved that if you put together a great line-up, people will come!. Well done all those involved. I hope the momentum continues to the next event, and hopefully we can then consider going back to two show a year!. They have to be more lucrative and rewarding than a few hundred at those weekend events?.

Yes it's quite a flight too. Around the £700 mark at the moment. Then there's the 3 hour check in, taxi to the airport, Hotel accomodation. And don't forget to pack the sun tan cream even in November !!!!! Dave Phillips Doesn't the other event have hotel, taxi, and some smaller airfare costs too. :/

My mistake Ted. You're right! I've learnt something there. I always thought when I saw concerts listed for the LG it was that horrible place to park in the centre!.

Isn't the LG the other Arena in the middle of the city?. The train is a good option. It would be cheaper to stay in Birmingham, and you get choice of some amazing resturants!.

Out of interest Dave, how were the guests this year selected?. It seems for a yearly event they are fairly narrow in their appeal. If you’re not interested in any of the three camps: Space / 1999 / Bond, then the likely hood is that you’ll pass on this event. Previous shows seemed to be very much more diverse, it seems all eggs in three baskets!. I can’t help think that if Buzz had cancelled in the same way as he did last year, this could be a pretty low turnout?.

There are now even more examples in the Lords of Time thread now…. Are you sure this system should be running for such expensive photograph shoots? Again some look far too dark, some are too light (the flash seems to be hitting people’s forehead), and others the colours look way off.... This is far from a 50 pound professional service?.

Reading between the lines - I guess if we’re already deciding where people are sitting. The chances of further ‘big guests’ is zero, so this is it for 2012?.

I'm still a bit confused by the technology that you're using to do this. Does faster mean, a reduction in quality?. I always thought that ‘professional printing’ involved somebody individually grading the prints. That aside, even if they were previously done on Boots machine set to automatic, wouldn’t the Boots lab be a little bit more sophisticated and have better colour collaboration, than a mobile unit?.

Is there any chance of considering both these options? Given that they naturally do talks, it seems that they’d fit a weekend better than some of the others?. Also at one of the larger London shows they could be screened off away from the main crowds?, has anybody ever tried to get them at a more general show before?.

Yes, with the death of Armstrong. It becomes apparent that it’s more and more likely that we’re not going to meet them all with now only one show a year. Please get as many Apollo guys to each show as possible.

Isn’t the decision simple though, if you don’t think it’s worth it don’t go?. It seems only if revenue is affected, then there is some sort of change. As Jason’s said blindly keep supporting it as it is, means it’ll be the same next year, and the year after?.

I’m beginning to think perhaps a Space 1999 convention, would have been better attended than some of the others that are chosen to run (and cancelled). Let’s just hope for a few more surprises, in other fields of interest. There is still time!.

Does Dick Gordon, charge extra if you've already got other signatures on the print (ie Bean), or is it £30 whatever it is?

I know there’s plenty of time (blah, blah, blah) But isn’t the guest list getting a little bit top heavy with Bond and Space 1999. A little diversity would be nice (and not that stupid dance group) .
