Showmasters Admin showmasters Posted June 6, 2013 Showmasters Admin Share Posted June 6, 2013 We are pleased to announce that we will have author SF SAID and Illustrator DAVE MCKEAN in attendance at LFCC signing copies of their new book Phoenix. Phoenix is not officially released until August, but we have teamed up with publishers Random House to bring you an early exclusive! Be the first to get your hands on not only an early copy, but a signed one! SF and Dave will be signing on Saturday from 11am-1pm and books will be available to purchase from the Waterstones stall at the event. SF SAID SF Said is an award-winning author. He wrote his first novel, Varjak Paw which won the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize for Children's Literature, as well as regional book of the year awards in Gateshead, Stockton and West Sussex. It has since been adapted as a stage play and an opera, and a film version is in development. It has been translated into 12 languages, and UK sales are now over 275,000. The sequel, The Outlaw Varjak Paw (2005), won the BBC's Blue Peter Book Of The Year, was nominated for the Carnegie Medal, and won the Leicester Teenage Book Of The Year. Varjak Paw is currently featured on the CLPE's recommended reading list for primary schools, and both books are being taught in classrooms around the UK. SF's third novel, PHOENIX, is a space epic for all ages. Like the Varjak Paw books, it will be illustrated by Dave McKean. DAVE MCKEAN David is a well known illustrator in both book and comic worlds. He has collaborated with Neil Gaiman on the graphic novels Violent Cases, Black Orchid and perhaps most notably The Sandman series. He has also illustrated the Batman graphic novel, Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth as well as a book for The Rolling Stones called Voodoo Lounge which he also wrote. As we as illustrating SF Said's books, Dave has illustrated many book covers including Coroline, The Graveyard Book, The Savage and Stephen King's Wizard and Glass. His illustrations seen in Neil Gaiman's picture book The Wolves in the Walls are much loved by by children across the country and his work can even be seen on a set of stamps for Royal Mail's Mythical Creatures collection, which featured depictions of mythical creatures found in British folklore, including dragons, unicorns, giants, pixies, mermaids, and fairies. longlivethelegion
So... do you need tickets for the signing (the Dave McKean page mentions tickets: http://www.londonfilmandcomiccon.com/index.php?option=com_flexicontent&view=items&id=616&Itemid=51) and - as asked above - will Dave be signing anything other than "Phoenix"? Thanks!
