Happy 45th Birthday DOCTOR WHO!

Bit late, but Sunday was the 45th anniversary of the airing of the first episode 'An Unearthly Child' on the 23rd November 1963. (And this year also happens to be William Hartnell's 100th year!) Most notably, the opening episode is memorable as it was broadcast the day after the assignation of JFK.

26 years later, the programme was cancelled but never forgotten, as the fans snapped up every bit of merchandise and spin-off material they could get their sticky hands on. They also resisted the temptation to firebomb Michael Grade :D

And now in 2008, it is back on our screens, as the one of the most loved programmes in Britain and more importantly, made by fans of the 'classic' series.

The program remains the longest running Sc-Fi series in the world. Let's hope for many more to come!

And it all started out from a junkyard in London....
