close call between LOTR and Indiana Jones...The Temple of Doom lets that trilogy down. By the way, sorry for being a geek, but The Lord of the Rings ISN'T a trilogy...grrr

Sure it is. "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King". "The Hobbit" is an entirely separate work of fiction. I know that it links up with characters and the Ring, but then so does "The Silmarillion" and, I presume (as I haven't read them yet), "The Unfinished Tales".

A trilogy is a series of tree related (literary) works, this can't apply to the Lord of the Rings, as it is one continuous story divided into six books and three volumes.

 

The "unfinished tales" are unfinished works by Tolkien with relate to the "Silmarillon". They were published, as was the "Silmarillion", after his death. The War of the Rings, which deals with the cycle of the rings of power, from the beginings of the Numenorean rule up to the end of the war of the rings, is in the last chapter. "The Lord of the Rings" only gets a paragraph or two in the "Silmarillion", if I'm not mistaken .

I've gone for Matrix because I've just gone Matrix mental, I've watched the first two a silly amount of times. I've watched the Animatrix and I'm playing through Enter the Matrix on my GameCube, I'm hopefully going to see Revolutions on the 5th... ooh better get my tickets booked!
