It was fine, moonlit night. Everything around was silent - even the breeze had stopped rustling the leaves of the trees that formed a solitary copse at the top of the hill.

 

Three figures were silhouetted against the full moon. One of them, Harry Potter, stood with one foot atop a steaming mound of bloody flesh, half covered by a cloak. He brandished the sword of Gryffindor in one hand and his wand in the other. One of the two watching figures spoke.

 

"Harry Potter! Look at that mess! Did you just kill Voldemort?" The imperious tones of Hermione Granger rang out in the silence.

 

"Yes," said Harry.

 

"Well, clean it up at once!"

 

Harry prodded the mess with his wand. "Corpus Evanesca," he said, casually. The bloody mess vanished.

 

"Right, then," said Ron, staring off towards the twinkling lights of a distant village. "Anyone fancy a pint?"
