  1. Thanks Mark for clarification on the MK centre. I think there is a place for Collectormania at MK with a different type of show and I am pleased to hear of the big plans for LFACC 2 in the future. You guys have done such a good job now, you are basically organising international events so all the factors of closeness to airports, rail networks etc are all vital. Here's looking forward to many more Collectormania's and London Film and Comic Conventions in the future.
  2. I know what you mean, it can be really frustrating when you got there early, waited for x number of hours and a load of people appear from no where and swan into the queue in front of you becase there mate drew the short straw to get their early and keep their dozen or so places in the queue. As one of the earlier threads said this happens in all different areas of life and sadly there is not really anthing you can do about it. Once in the venue the new ticketing system worked far better and compared to C4 worked like a dream. O.K. there were still a few people that thought they would stand in front of the queue line with ticket 642 , when Billy was only on 250 and you had to stand behind them, but thankfully in my expereince they weren't let in and I got the last laugh as the queue steward told them to move to the side and let me through. One quick thought for Showmasters for C5, with the big queues have a steward that walks up the queue outside of the cordoned area and for people that have numbers way off who are just blocking up the area ask them to come back in one hour or whatever is appropriate in relation to the guests signing at the time. Thus allowing those who actually have a relevant ticket not to spend an extra half an hour behind these people who are not going to get in.
  3. It gets my vote and now I have a great signed picture of Pat , with a nice shiny space for Ralph to sign on as well. Ralph for C5.
  4. Thought I would bring this back to the top of the list for everyones attention. Buffy and Angel guests please for C5. Thank you.
  5. Based on what happened at C4 and presuming Showmasters want to continue to bring big guests then I cannot see the MK Centre being a realistic option in the long term. There is only so much space in there and over the weekend it is always going to be busy with shoppers and gawpers which makes it a nightmare for everyone. There was so much unpleasantness and people arguing and getting mad at C4 which didn't help anyone. I agree in principle that it is a nice idea to hold it there and give people who have never been to a convention the option of sampling a bit of the magic, but after C4 I think they would be largely likely not to turn up again. LFACC had the space, the organisation, the guests and still maintained a largely happy and positive atmosphere , which I belive would be the same if Collectormania moved to the NEC in the future. Alternatively, keep Collectormania at MK Centre, but with guests of a less high profile.
  6. I saw a whole range of people. Tony Todd was great on the Sunday, real nice guy. I had watched the Candyman movie the night before so it was a bit of a scary experience. Tony said he was just about to start work on the fourth Candyman movie. Adam West was a little quiet when I saw him, but pleasant. Same goes for Pat Morita. Claudia Christian and Chloe Annett were both friendly and chatty. Danny John Jules was really funny and a pleasure to meet. Brent and Levar were also both friendly and pleasant and happy to pose for photos. So an all round happy experience really.
  7. A couple of Lara Crofts, a Catwoman, numerous LOTR , a chap in a Star Trek Outfit. Someone dressed as a Coffee Seller (Oh Know wait, he was a Coffee seller). A group of females with Wings ! Not sure what that was about, perhaps they had some Red Bull. I think all of you deserve a round of applause.
  8. Keep the big guests for the LFACC where it is easier to cope with them. I, like a lot of people have bad memories of C4, and LFACC was a so much better experience. Keep the event for the true fans and not the shoppers and gawpers that you get at MK. And make C5 a more pleasant and enjoyable experience where you get time with the guests , rather than having to show up the night before, witness fighting, jostling, bad language and general unpleasantness. The current guest list should be o.k. for MK, so more of the same please.
  9. C4 suffered due to lack of space with all those pesky shoppers and gawpers getting in the way of the true fans. LFACC was a far better experience from this point of view. But what do you think ?
  10. Having experienced LFACC and C4, it has convinced me that the MK Centre is just not big enough to have the quality of guests that Showmasters are now able to attract. I would be in favour in the future of having the major names only at the LFACC where there is a contained venue, loads of space, and no Saturday shoppers and gawpers. The LFACC had a much better vibe (didn't think I would be saying that ), everyone there was there because they were real fans of these events and this with the better organisation helped it to be a really big success. There is still a place for the MK centre, but for it to work it should revert back to the level of guests at earlier Collectormanias, or to keep in the area and still have big guests move to the NEC.
  11. There is a who is your favourite LOTR guest at the LFACC poll, but I can't see a who is you favourite LFACC guest poll.
  12. My personal opinion is that LFACC was way better than C4 , a better vibe , a better setting, better organisation and the best event of this sort I have been to, but what do you think and why (post your reasons below). Vote Now.
  13. Time to vote. Who did you most enjoy meeting at the LFACC ? Vote Now.
  14. Ashleo 78 I feel there was a great selection of traders, from memory, there were comics, autos, film props, film cells, film posters and press packs, action figures etc What more could you have wanted. I know there was more items there I wanted than money I had with me. I don't know for sure, but I think the 750 may have referred to tables rather than actual dealers. Each dealer will take up a number of tables. Believe me, there was enough variety there to keep a hardened film and comic fan like myself happy.
  15. Having attended both days of the first LFACC, I can honestly say that it was the best event that I have been to. I was able to meet all the guests that I wanted, everyone I spoke to was friendly and excited, there was a great selection of traders and merchandise and Craig Charles' unexpected cameo at the Red Dwarf talk was hilarious. The new system of guest named tickets and numbers appeared to work well and the entry fee and the contained venue took away a couple of major problems that blighted C4, the the shoppers and gawpers. O.K. there were perhaps one or two minor points, but for an event of this size I for one think Showmasters should be patting themselves on the back as they have taken these events to another level , whilst maintaining the friendly vibe that grew out of Collectormania. Roll on LFACC 2.
  16. With the recent news of Angel coming to an end and Eliza not wanting to make Faith the Vampire Slayer. What other spin offs might work ? This one was mentioned a while ago, The Watcher (Whatever happened to that, series set in England with Anthony Stewart Head) Anyone else got any ideas ?
  17. Harrison Ford Sean Connery Robert De Niro Jennifer Connelly Nicole Kidman And my director would be: George Lucas
  18. Due to the lack of info / announcements I had kind of guessed this was the case anyway. Thanks for trying and lets hope for some big comic names as well at LFACC 2.
  19. As Daniel Logan will be at C5, please could we have Temeura Morrison and Jeremy Bulloch as well to complete the Fetts and a nice special event photo for all three of them to sign as well. Thanks
  20. The Stephen King book , "IT" was such a great book, but the film well, I guess it just couldn't compete with my imagination. Starring that Richard whateverisname is as well from the Waltons kind of spoilt it as well, but Tim Curry was o.k. as Pennywise. I think this is the case when a lot of the Stephen King books get turned to films. Misery was an exception thought I think and there probably have been one or two others.
  21. Definitely the first movie. The second was a load of cobblers. The Third pulled the series back on track a bit. I was a fan of the New Nightmare, because it really freshened up the series as well. Robert Englund Rocks !
  22. With cost of sigs likely to be in the £15 to £20 range at the LFACC, I was wondering how much everyone felt was a fair price that they would pay. Vote Now.
  23. You have money to buy them presents as well ! That is incredibly kind of you. Mind you, it sounds like Dom enjoyed his lolly pops !
  24. The only other thing I could think of was Radio adverts, but to do this nationally would probably cost a fair bit. Most people who have been to this type of event before will know to check the website or info line before travelling. Sadly those that don't will have to learn to do it next time , harsh, but I can't see any easy and cheap way of doing it, other than what Showmasters are doing already. The majority of people can pick up a phone and dial the info line or if they don't have a computer go into their local library and log on to confirm details. I don't think I have ever been to an event where some guests haven't pulled out, I just keep my fingers crossed that it isn't anyone I want to see at the end of they day. The only thing it would be nice to see, would be that Showmasters then say they will try and get the guests that withdraw for a future event, so all hopes are not dashed. This must be the case as Pat Morita (fingers crossed ) after having cancelled before should be at LFACC.
  25. It looks like the Val query has been answered, but I can confirm when I spoke to Val in November, both he and his agent were aware that he was intending to be at the LFACC. A great guy, I look forward to seeing him again, hopefully at C5.
