  1. I thought that he didn't make it to the event. Maybe I am wrong?
  2. Was confuzzled until I watched it. Now know it is SU.
  3. I still want the A-Team van...
  4. The Hurrican Passes Away Thread This thread was started yesterday. Maybe a moderator can merge the two?
  5. In a first for me, I actually found something Tommy Dreamer involved in REPULSIVE. This is not "ONE LAST STAND" for the former ECW alumni. This is TNA being childish towards the WWE. The 2005 One Night Stand was old school. Aside from Angle v Orton, 2006 was excellent. The "If Cena Wins, We Riot" sign in the crowd was superb. Everything after that was terrible. Let's look at the TNA version. 1. Rhino has been collecting his wages and nothing much else. 2. Raven is doing this for the paycheck and nothing else. He may get a few extra dates here and there, but I can't see them giving him a contract. 3. Stevie Richards is used when they need him. He hasn't been seen in a while, so this is a payday and a possible chance at more screen time in the future. 4. Mick Foley was "fired" because his contract stated that he could only do so many dates, and he had exceeded these big time. (Flair is in a similar situation at the moment) 5. Tommy Dreamer is now what he always claimed to hate...someone doing it for money and money alone. There is no way he would have left his secure job with the WWE if he didn't have a guaranteed contract with TNA. At the end of the day, this promo was the wrong choice. Dixie said that she invited Dreamer and Co. Fine, that is a good start. But why go with Dreamer begging her for ONE MORE NIGHT? Just have Dixie say that she thought the way it ended for ECW was wrong and she was giving them one night to say a full and proper goodbye? Fans would have accepted that. It would have been a trip now nostalgia street. Tommy Dreamer...shame on you.
  6. Three original cast member do show up. One is Dirk Benedict, one is Dwight Schultz and the other way is not Mr T...it is the van. Only the van plays it's original role!!! It is not the original make as it was apparently hard to source. So they modified another van, and some small differences are noticeable, but do not spoil it. Depending on where you read reports, Dirk Benedict allegedly "regrets his cameo" and Mr T turned down an offer of a cameo. The film is excellent.
  7. Through my conventioning years I have noticed that, no matter how much money a guest is getting, if someone is upset or they are unwell, you cannot expect miracles. I have also noticed that some convention attendees can themselves be the cause of a guest's less than outgoing nature if you catch them at the wrong time. I have personally seen attendees be rude to guests, or overstep the mark on some occasions, and thus this has not sat well with some. I attended a weekend event many years back in London. It was the Saturday night party and I had nipped to the toilet. Locked away in the cubicle I heard a few people come and go out - not uncommon in toilets!! - but then I heard someone loudly recognise one of the guests and asking them for a photo. The guest concerned asked for some privacy and that he would be glad to do a photo back in the party. However, the person asking didn't seem best happy and was rather rude. This, to me anyway, is overstepping the mark. Many things can happen. Both before and during an event. Some guests may be there and not overly outgoing. Some may be jet lagged. No matter how much someone is being paid, no matter if acting is their job, sometimes someone can just not be the perfect guest encounter we all want. I have met guests who have not looked up, and at the time I was in my autograph collecting phase rather than meeting the guest phase. It sucks, but as is life. Some people on here have said that they would be in trouble at work if they acted the same way. Well, I guess it depends on where you work. As recently as the week before last a patient - I work in an opticians - was being rather outspoken whilst waiting for his glasses to be repaired. I think some may refer to it as "being a character". I was sat down doing some paperwork and he decided to come up to me and tell me that he had lost a lot of weight and asked me how much I weighed - I am a big chap. I politely, yet quite clearly very not amused, said that it is a personal matter than I do not talk about. My employer and senior managers were there and heard it all, and waited to see what would happen. The man himself said sorry and quickly went to where his glasses were being repaired. My senior boss asked me if I was alright as he quite clearly saw that I was far from impressed by the patient's idea of humour. So, it all depends on the situation. It all depends on what has gone on before you. I will always be polite to a patient or customer, but there are great distances between being professional and "turning on the magic" so to speak. But, as is always in life, you will always find one who slips through the net. I can remember when people were less than complimentary about Bill Shatner from way back, yet have sung his praises this time. It is usually all about timing. Here endeth the essay. Apologies for the length, but I typed what I was thinking and didn't edit. Ooops!!
  8. Roy has publicly stated that N'Gog can only go to WBA on loan if more strikers are signed.
  9. Sky Sports have just released a statement from the local authorities that Alex Higgins was found passed away in a flat. Authorities were apparently called after he did not respond to phone calls, and the flat where he was living/staying was entered. Sad news, and such a wonderful outpouring of the word legend with e-mails into Sky Sports. At least Alex is now at peace as it was common knowledge that he wa snot in the best of health.
  10. Sky Sports News has just broke the news that the great snooker legend that was Alex Hurricane Higgins has passed away. Rest In Peace and carry on playing in heaven.
  11. All printed media came in English for mine...
  12. Promising display from Liverpool today. Still without the World Cup stars, the fringe players and youngsters managed to hold their own against Bundesliga team FC Kaiserslautern. They did lose 1-0, but showed passion and fight according to Sky Sports commentary/reporting. Sky Sports News have just broken the news that England and Portsmouth Goalkeeper David James will fly to Glasgow on Monday to hold talks with Celtic. If he does move, I think that this would be a tremendous boost for England. Celtic are used to winning, so James will start to get that winning feeling back and keep the number one jersey.
  13. In some great news for Liverpool, Dani Pachecho continues to score for Spain U19's in the U19's European Championships. Spain are currently playing Italy with 10 to 15 minutes to go. Chelsea's Didier Drogba has undergone groin srgery and is another Chelsea first team player who may well miss the start of the season. Full details available on the BBC website.
  14. I saw a photo of her recently and did not realise she was dating Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko. He stands 6ft 6 inches...she dosn't...interesting parting kiss routine. Does she use to a box to stand on, maybe a ladder..or does he get down on his knees so he can give her a late night smooch? And, if he gets down on his knees, does she think he is going to propose? He! He!
  15. Buy good players young and cheap and play great flowing football, however, since they built the stadium and stuck to a realistic player wage structure, they havn't won anything but praise, as their best players move elsewhere to get 'closer to the going rate'. Fabregas will be the next one, whether it's this summer or next year, you can't expect to pay below the going rate and keep a footballer of his quality happy. I know it's all a matter of perspective, as Fabregas is still on silly money compared to us, but his inetrnational colleagues are all probably on close to double his wages, and as showmasters know full well, agents are there to get the best deal for their clients. Very true. But at least they do not have the financial worries of Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and most recently Mallorca who have been removed from the Europa League due to going into administration with £50,000,000 worth of debt. Football primarily, but virtually all sports seem obsessed with money. I can remember when Bath and Bristol rugby clubs won trophies all the time. Then it went fully professional and money changed everything. Agents aside, the worst thing is that the clubs know it is happening but do nothing about it.True supporters of a club would still follow it if they didn't win trophies - look at Liverpool's recent track record - as long as they were run properly. If you look at Liverpool and Manchester United, the biggest gripe for fans is that the respective American owners have lumbered the clubs with massive debt. It has been confirmed that Albert Reira has secured a move to Olympiakos "to win trophies" according to Sky Sports. An initial fee of £3,600,000 which can rise to over £5,000,000 has been agreed.
  16. And suddenly the theme song burst into my head!!
  17. New French National Coach Laurent Blanc has had the entire 23 man World Cup 2010 squad suspended by the FFF for the Norway friendly in August. Sky Sports have put the article on their website, along with quotes and the statement from the FFF.
  18. In another example of reckless financial management, the BBC website is reporting that Sheffield Wednesday FC are the latest club to be handed a winding up order by the HMRC over an unpaid tax bill. To me, this is another case of running before you can walk when trying to compete for success. Too many teams are looking at the end game, rather than the steps in between. Signing players on stupid wages, as well as turfing out a stupid signing on fee or transfer fee. When will clubs learn? It can be done. Look at Arsenal. A prime example of a financially well run club.
  19. Those are the ones that I purchased as new and they are the ones you buy in any UK shop.
  20. You can hear him from the stand opposite probably.
  21. I can appreciate what people are saying about prices going up, but things do go up over time. I was shopping yesterday and the prices have galloped up the past few years for basic groceries. The cost of getting a guest to an event will be dependent on many things. So, it comes down to whether or not you want to meet them. Convention and Event organisers are businesses. They have to turn a profit to operate and set up future events. Every business is the same. From a personal point of view, people who attend Showmasters/Massive Events events/conventions are lucky that the organisers are fans. And hands on fans at that. If you looked at events on a global scale, then you would see things in a different matter. Of that, I am sure.
  22. Jonathan Ross pointed out to JC about the "jacket on..jacket off" phrase. I don't think JC knew the latter part meant something so rude in this country. Not going to see this film at the cinema. Will catch it on dvd.
  23. Now I know who he was on about. The complete nutcase who wears no top in all weathers. That guy is mad on the terraces. And he is a bookseller by day? Classic. It is always the quiet ones.
