I lay my head on the metallic table listening to the hard gasps of breath coming from the nameless man lying in pain next to me. It wouldn’t be long now I thought to myself. I felt exhausted, I’d spent days watching him, at first writhe in terrible pain, but now he just lay in even more agonizing silence. I lifted my head at a suddenly quickened heartbeat, I listened intently as it struggled senselessly against the venom. And captured the sound in my memory for the last moments I’d hear it. His face was seamlessly indifferent and composed. I took a breath when the beating ceased and his eyelids began to flicker, fate was coming for me and I could feel my once numb heart soften at the lost look on his face as he gazed at me. “Hello..†I whispered too quietly for any human to hear. His brows furrowed to meet in the middle. “Am I dead..†His voice was strained and seemed as lost as his eyes. I grinned at how fast he spoke, he hadn’t seemed to notice, not yet anyway. “Not exactly..†He sat up on the surgical table, I threw my hand out in front to catch him in the chest before he hit the wall in front of him. “Oh …†he said now to himself rather than me. His skin shone the typical white of all of us. His eyes crimson, his hair dark hung in short curls, brightening his skin all the more. Something stirred in me as I watched him, something long forgotten. He jumped from the table and ran to my side, testing himself. A huge smirk on his face, I knew already I loved him, and I’d never be able to thank Carlisle for my gift. He knelt down beside me. He raised his hand to my cheek and brushed a stray tired hair from my face. “But you are an angel aren’t you…â€. I looked down at my hands I’d never felt…insecure, but with him… I wanted to be perfect. “No…not at all…†he dropped his fingers and caught my chin and tilted it toward him. All I could see were his perfect eyes, it was a window to him, his soul and I swore to myself any free moment I had I spend looking into them. “When I was dying all I saw was your face, and suddenly all the pain was gone, and all I could think, all I could feel, all I could breath for…was you†he leaned in and delicately kissed my lips. When he pulled away he took my hand tracing his thumb on the inside of my palm. “I’m Emmet…†his eyes were examining my skin. “I’m Rosalie…†I smiled at him as he looked up. “It’s time to start your new life Emmet. Do you think your ready?†He stood up slowly pulling me up with him. He Grinned widely. “As long as I get to spend it with you..†Rose Daae
