  1. He's appeared at US shows. It would be an honour to meet this great sci fi legend.
  2. And Alan Whicker is doing book signings too. He'd have some good stories to tell if he did a talk.
  3. Yeah i think it says 'only uk show in 2005' for john on their site. So i guess it cant be him this time. rolling - former member of the Stones maybe? Bill Wyman or Mick Taylor. Bill does do book signings. wet - Esther Williams maybe childish - Shirley Temple maybe More likely to be Milvina.
  4. Amazing. Classic Trek is the only Trek that I collect autographs from. I was happy with Majel, and now we've got two brilliant TOS guests. Great work in getting them both. And as has been said, lets hope we at least feel like we've met him - just like we did with Burt Reynolds. That proved it is possible to have a massive legend and everyone still having a good experience with the guest rather than a cattle market run through. The crew who were with Burt were great, taking peoples photos for them etc. And so were the James M crew. Hope we get a similar experience this time.
  5. Yeah. Me too. Its good to have US guests but its also good to remember that we have some great British legends too. And the vast majority would be 1st time guests.
  6. Thanks Dave. Hoping for some good ones. Hmmm, rolling, maybe a rock n roll guest sink or swim, maybe more Poseidon guests wheelie, maybe Evel Knievel (fingers crossed by me lol) But those guesses will no doubt be all wrong lol.
  7. D. Gordon has now been confirmed as a replacement for Alan Bean. The info is on the Autographica site - http://www.autographica.co.uk/html/october_guests.html
  8. Music guests would be good. Peter Tork from the Monkees is doing one UK show, but maybe he could be at next years Autographica. Some famous writers would fit in at Autographica too: Ray Bradbury Mickey Spillane Harlan Ellison Norman Mailer Terry Pratchett Harper Lee
  9. Yeah its a real shame about Peter Diamond. Passed away in March last year. I met him in Nov 2003 at what I guess was his last or nearly last con. He was really nice, very friendly. Also met him in 2000. Real sad loss for SW fans.
  10. Yeah, in those early days he was amazing. Probably hard to get him for a show, but with his up and down money probs then who knows. Anything is possible with Tyson as we all know.
  11. Very cool. He's great. We really need some guests like this. Some more from brit comedy: Bruce Forsyth Ian Carmichael (great comedy legend - brilliant in lots of comedy film classics inc School for Scoundrels and I'm Alright Jack with Peter Sellers and Terry-Thomas) Windsor Davies Melvyn Hayes John Inman Mollie Sugden Frank Thornton Richard Briers Felicity Kendal Penelope Keith Andrew Sachs Prunella Scales Connie Booth Millicent Martin June Whitfield Jimmy Tarbuck Ken Dodd Paula Wilcox Maureen Lipman Michele Dotrice John Alderton Derek Fowlds Tim Brooke-Taylor Graeme Garden Bill Oddie Nicholas Parsons Mike Yarwood Una Stubbs Wendy Craig Geoffrey Palmer Danny La Rue Stanley Baxter Bernie Clifton Tony Robinson Gordon Kaye Jean Boht Kathy Staff Jean Alexander Dora Bryan Lynda Baron Jack Smethurst Rudolph Walker Polly James, Nerys Hughes, Elizabeth Estensen (Liver Birds) Carla Lane Henry McGee (Benny Hill show) Angela Thorne (To the Manor Born) Hilda Braid (Citizen Smith, and now also known for Nana Moon in Eastenders) Denis Norden (he wrote lots of comedies with Frank Muir before he did It'll Be Alright on the Night and Laughter File) Diana Coupland (Bless This House and also dubbed the singing voice of Ursula Andress in Dr. No)
  12. Yeah, I put up a report about the cloak last week. When I checked the boards a day or so later it was gone. So I didn't see any of the replies. I'm guessing it was removed cuz it mentioned it was on display. So without meaning to on my part, technically it mentioned a non SM event. Although that could easily have been edited out (it was only one or two lines) rather than totally removing a story of interest to SW fans. But hey, thanks to Crostini its back up now so fans can find out this good news.
  13. One of the biggest icons of the 1970s. And yet I don't think he's ever done a UK signing show. He'd fit in perfectly at Autographica. He regularly does in store signings in US, including earlier this year. Reports from fans who met him said he's great to meet. He's one of those truly legendary one offs, who will always be remembered.
  14. He was great to meet at Collectormania in Oct 2004. Spoke to him about his new film 5-25-77 which he was working on at the time. Thats completed now so I agree that a screening would be very cool. SM events are the only UK ones I've ever seen him listed for. Think hes been at about 3 in MK now. His talk with Irvin Kershner that was scheduled for Collectormania earlier this year had to be cancelled, so if they got Irvin again maybe they could do that this time. I don't think he was directly involved in Jedi, but no doubt he and Lucas at least talked about it at the time.
  15. The Cosmonauts are always good to meet. Something different, and no other UK show has them. Dave said in a post that they're hoping this years show to be the best guest line up ever, so lets hope for some good ones to be announced in the weeks leading up to the show. They never let us down and they always surprise us with some cool first timers. Not easy of course to get some of the ones we'd love to meet, but no doubt they'll make it great as usual. And hopefully they'll try for some of the ones that everyone has been making suggestions for on these boards.
  16. I knew I was forgetting one former boxing guest! John was great to meet. I haven't seen any of those boxers at UK shows but any would be great of course. Could you imagine Tyson - that would be an interesting and eventful show lol.
  17. Couldn't agree more. The thing I like best about Autographica is the mixture of guests, so theres something for everyone. Being able to walk through and see legendary history makers, then some sports legends, plus some of the best from film and tv including some massive legends like past guest the late John Mills, is what makes it special. Autographica is the only show that gets history guests, and even with sports guests there aren't that many shows. And its probably the only show that could get some of the big legends from golden era Hollywood, or from animation history, as I mentioned in my threads on those. To see so much variety at one show is great. And no one else does it in the same way. Funny actually - sports, animation, history, and golden era autographs are amongst the most sought after and the value of those autographs can go up and up. And yet Autographica is the only show that has such a mix of guests.
  18. Gene Kranz, NASA's mission controller, would be good. Hes done US signings and talks. Info on him - 'Kranz was part of the mission control team that made Alan Shepard the first American in space in May 1961. Just two months later they launched Gus Grissom for a space orbit, John Glenn orbited Earth three times in February 1962, and in May of 1963 Gordon Cooper completed the final Project Mercury launch with 22 Earth orbits. And through them all, and the many Apollo missions that followed, Gene Kranz was one of the integral inside men--one of those who bore the responsibility for the Apollo 1 tragedy, and the leader of the "tiger team" that saved the Apollo 13 astronauts. Moviegoers know Gene Kranz through Ed Harris's Oscar-nominated portrayal of him in Apollo 13. The 1993 shuttle mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope, was his last mission control project.'
  19. Just thought I'd put all the announced guests in one thread, so it makes it easy for everyone to read. If any new guests are announced feel free to add them to this thread. From reading posts, Dave and Garry have been very busy trying to secure some great guests for us so they don't always get a chance to post on the boards, so just thought it would be a good idea to collect together the confirmed guest info here to help them out, and so we all know whos attending. So, heres a round up of the guest list so far - Space guests Buzz Aldrin Charlie Duke Jack Lousma Film/TV guests Brian Blessed Julian Glover Dave Prowse Kenny Baker Heather Langenkamp and Amanda Wyss (Nightmare on Elm St) Stella Stevens and Carol Lynley (The Poseidon Adventure) Priscilla Barnes (Felix Leiters wife in Licence to Kill) John Terry (Lost, 24, Full Metal Jacket, Felix Leiter in The Living Daylights, Hawk in Hawk the Slayer) And no doubt some more great guests to be announced. Hopefully the usual unique mixture of film, TV, sports and history guests that makes Autographica different.
  20. 100 per cent with you. Lots of collectors collect boxing autographs. Always very popular and the big legends are always going to be that way. And yet most of them haven't been to UK signing shows. Most do US events though. Henry Cooper does do UK shows. A truly great person to meet. Alan Minter has been at Autographica once too. Sports Collectables is massive but theres only a handful of shows that have sports stars so we really need to continue having some at Autographica. I'd also suggest Jake LaMotta - the real life legend who De Niro played in Raging Bull. Hes 84 now and has attended fights and boxing dinners in UK in recent years. He attends many US boxing events and gives talks. Hes also always been a great autograph signer. He would definitely be a very popular guest. Floyd Patterson Larry Holmes Leon Spinks - they nearly had him at Autographica in 2001. Ken Norton Joe Bugner Sugar Ray Leonard Marvin Hagler Harry Carpenter Angelo Dundee - M Ali's legendary trainer About M Ali - obviously the one everyone would love to have at a UK show. What a man. I was lucky enough to meet him at a booksigning a few years ago in Birmingham. A real honour to meet him. I've not heard of any other UK events since then. He did appear at US signing shows in recent years, but he may have stopped doing that now. If they can't get him then getting his trainer Angelo Dundee would at least give us the chance to talk about Ali with someone who was a big part of his career.
  21. Unfortunately Neil Armstrong probably is impossible to get. He doesn't sign through the post or in person anymore. But I'm sure they'll keep trying to get him. But most other history type guests like Edmund Hillary should at least be a possibility to get. And they've got so many great real life anecdotes they could share in talks too. I would think most people attending the show would want to meet people like Hillary or Bannister if they were there. I'd also suggest - Dame Vera Lynn - never done a UK signing show. We've all seen from her appearances at this years 60th anniversary of WW2 events how loved she still is and her singing will always be such a part of that historic time. A true British icon. Nellie Connally, the last surviving passenger of the car in which President Kennedy was assassinated. Some info on her: widow of the former Texas governor and former Secretary of the Navy, John Connally. She was riding in the car with JFK and Jackie, and her husband the day that JFK was assassinated. Just before the fateful shots, as the car turned onto Elm Street, she turned to JFK and commenting on the big crowds out to see him said "Mr. President, you certainly cannot say that Dallas does not love you." He smiled and then the shots rang out. She published a book in 2003, 'From Love Field, Our Final Hours With President John F. Kennedy'. Shes been a regular guest on Larry King Live talking about what happened. Shes done book signings in US, and shes done US talks called 'That Day in Dallas'. Really would be good to have some history guests.
  22. Apologies for any errors and omissions, but this is pretty close to being complete - May 2000 Northampton The very 1st Autographica Anthony Daniels Dave Prowse Kenny Baker Warwick Davis Mike Carter Femi Taylor Benedict Taylor Kate Purvis John Chapman May 2001 Northampton Kenny Baker Shane Rimmer Warwick Davis May 2002 Northampton Alan Harris Shane Rimmer MAY 2003 Northampton RUSTY GOFFE RICHARD LE PARMENTIER WARWICK DAVIS ALAN RUSCOE MIKE EDMONDS AMY ALLEN MICHONNE BOURRIAGUE SHANE RIMMER November 2003 Coventry Shane Rimmer Oct 2004 Coventry Dave Prowse and Kenny Baker
  23. Lisa Wilcox would be a great addition to the line up. "I have a place in my heart for all of the different characters I have played and there is a story or two behind each. The character of Alice in the Nightmare films is still one of my favourites. Alice was me in grade school and me when I 'blossomed' in college. From weak to strong, from day dreamer to realist." -- Lisa Wilcox on her roles in A Nightmare on Elm Streets 4 and 5.
