  1. I've been to a lot of shows where John was a guest and I believe that he will sign stuff for free. However, he doesn't like to do sketches. He will probably have his magic rubber stamps (which have a couple of headsketches for you) and he will have limited edition artwork for sale (numbered out of 50). Then again, i could be mistaken and he may be give out sketches willy nilly. He's a great guy though and I can definitely recommend having a chat to him about all things artwork and comic related.
  2. There 'manager mode' and there's unprofessional rudeness. There was no excuse for the way she spoke at some folks when she was with Shatner not to mention ASH the last time he appeared. It's very simple to do your job and still be civil
  3. Do you know who I think they should get back? Some of the Matrix folks like Joey Pants & the Rayments. Always a nice draw and if they could snag Laurence Fishburne (not currently filming anything) then what a bonus. However, I'm more than happy with the line-up so far and extra happy that it's in Manchester so for me it's a win-win situation. I just hope enough people attend to warrant a second one, and a third etc, etc.
  4. OK from the Ibis about a two minute walk will take you to the Tai Wu Chinese rest on Oxford Road. This is an extremely nice place and the food is to die for. There is a buffet entrance right next to the main doors which takes you downstairs and IIRC it's £9.50 per head on a Saturday night. It's also straight across the road from Jilly's Rock Club (The greatest night out in Manchester) and the FAB Cafe (The second greatest night in Manchester).
  5. I'll be travelling all of 5 minutes by bus! Ho, Ho, Ho! An event that it doesn't take me 3 hours to get to. HOORAY!!!
  6. I'll just drop in here to give props (and thanks) to the young girl who was crewing Adam West at about 12.00 on the Saturday. Even though there was no posed photos allowed she took my camera and pulled off a couple of shots of me with Adam. They've been developed and are ace. This did not intrude on Mr. West's time or the signing and despite that fact that I look immensly fat in the photos (not the fault of the crew member - blame Greggs' Chocolate Donuts) this meeting and the photos actually made my weekend. So - it can be done with a busy guest as long as the crew are helpful. Well done.
  7. Mine too was an excellent experience as I could have expected from a con veteran like Robert. We chatted for a decent amount of time about 2001 Maniacs, Heartstopper, Urbane and the upcoming Masters of Horror series. Got a great signature too. Well done SM.
  8. I felt as though the crew were more harrassed at this CM than at any of the others. It didn't seemed to be as relaxed as it normally is and I was frowned upon a number of times for just going to grab a photo of some of the guests (something that has never occurred before). Guests were great though - a really nice mix. Robert Englund, Adam West & Karen Allen deserve special mention. I also thought that it was quite amusing that Kelly Donovan looked more like 'Xander' than Nick (ooh haven't I put on a bit of weight) Brendon.
  9. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised to find out that he had an 'open queue' by the time I arrive at 9.45 ish. I paid my money, chose my picture and joined the line, impressed with the fact that he was getting through the line as quick as he was. Then, the closer I got the more horrified I was. 'Shabs' at least I think that was his name was marching up and down the line like some blinged up gestapo member demanding that people put their cameras away - not asking mind, demanding. The picture was then torn out of my hand by some hag of a woman who looked at me like I was a piece of s*** and shoved at the Shatner who signed it. Now I appear to be one of the lucky ones who had some interaction with him. He asked how I was doing and I thanked him for coming. He actually looked very bemused by this woman and genuinely appeared to want to actually interact with the fans but that was obviously something he'd been told not to do. (then again he IS an actor so this may have been for show). I totally understand the none-posed thing and even the no photos whilst he is signing your pick but what would it take to let you just squeeze off a quick shot after you are out of the line (not much is the answer). At the end of the day I met the Shatner and got his autograph. I'm not that big a trek fan but recognise his legacy and I was disgusted by the way the fans were herded through by that evil wench. I can only imagine how disappointed I would be if I was a huge trek fan and had made a huge journey specifically to see him. Nice guest SM but next time try having a crew with manners. Still if you work out that the Shatner will do 1000+ autos per day thats over £75,000.00 for the weekend and I highly doubt they've paid him more than £25,000.00 to be there. Quite a nice tidy profit methinks
  10. This is great. I too have missed him every other time he's done an appearance.
  11. Shaping up to be a very good show so far. I'm already gonna be skint!!!!!
  12. As a long time lurker on the boards, an attendee of every SM event and a manc through and through this is fantastic news. Great guests already and a load of my friends are already coming who have never been to any of the other events. Well done showmasters. Now, get the Blair Witch Project cast and Directors as guests and I will be your humble servant
