Meeting other fans and having a good time is surely big part of the Con. But consider the money factor. People are flying from all over the world spending a shameful amount of bucks/Pounds/Euros... Meeting people and having fun is usually possible at cheaper conditions. We can't deny guests' presence is the main reason for us to be attending. I know cancellations are routine and there's nothing Showmasters can do in these cases. Nevertheless I can't help but feel disappointed. It's not easy to deal with a 13 years old who's emotionally invested so much in such a dream... I only hope Taylor will find a way around. After all if he's so busy with NM prep work, this is also due to the massive support he was given by fans all over the world.

In his most recent interview he stated shooting's gonna start at the end of March... Two full months to go. 4 Con days seem to me an acceptable break. I feel a bit disappointed. He fought hard for his role in NM and his fans along with him. My little one did unspeakable things to support him (don't ask... Or ask Summit ), voodoo included I just feel a Con attendance would be a nice way to thank his 'faithful army' for all the support, loyalty and affection. I can survive his backing out but the youngest attendees will be sorely hurt IMHO. Don't forget some people are not only paying for Con+hotel but also for the flight. We knew cancellations were a possibility. This doesn't make things less upsetting for young people though...

This was posted on the official site of the San Francisco Twilight Convention (Feb 20-22): January 23: Today we heard from Taylor Lautner's representative that he is unfortunately unable to appear at any conventions during this timeframe due to prep work on the new film. While we never like to have guest cancellations we wish Taylor luck on the film of course and look forward to welcoming him at future dates now under discussion. Those that purchased separate photo ops and autograph tickets for Taylor will have their credit cards refunded early next week. On the positive side we will be announcing TWO ADDITIONAL GREAT TWILIGHT MOVIE GUESTS VERY SOON to be added to the guest list. We regret the inconvenience of this announcement for Taylor's many fans. ALL GUESTS are contracted to appear and all convention contracts specify that appearances are tentative and subject to change as film and television work demands take precedence. Does that mean he's gonna back out of ET too? Can't even start to think how telling my lil one

Thank you Jola! I think the time issue for children at the party is a matter of common sense. Habits are quite different from country to country. I've traveled a lot and noticed that children sleeping time habits are related to cultural and climatic conditions. In the Mediterranean area, due to temperature reasons (try to sleep with 40°C and... good luck!) we tend to be more flexible. Just have a summer walk in any Italian resorts and you'll meet fully awake toddlers and infants even past midnight. On new year's eve my 13 years old went to sleep at 3am: she was fully awake and having fun so why being a spoilsport? As long as children don't bother people and behave themselves... let them enjoy the parties

Besides complexion and haircut... There's quite a difference. Taylor's face has got angles while Copon's is roundish (look at the chin and cheekbones). Taylor's smile is sunny and white hot Mike's is kinda forced and IMO slightly creepy. But the main difference is in the eyes. Both in shape and colour. Copon's eyes are dull. While Taylor's... Well, they sparkle (no pun intended Edward!) in their liquid amber glory. They have a wolfish quality to them. Really... He's just missing fur&paws and then he can go running into the wild

I've been working in the Showbiz for 10 years (movies, TV) and I know how these things work. You'll never get an official announcement without its road being paved by rumours. I thought the situation was bad enough in Italy where you get fired from a TV show due to a change in the political scenario. Well, it seems I have to rethink my opinion. At least in that case you can blame powers so much bigger than you, not petty commercial considerations and agents' package deals. Sorry, I'm naif and still value the human element to any undertaking (showbiz or not). People get hurt and I can't help but feel for them.

First a bunch of rumours to test the waters and let people get used to the news. Then production friendly articles. Eventually the official announcements. They are free to do as they want with their baby. I'm free as well. I won't spend another single penny on this franchise. Cath and Taylor represented the vital, down to earth, creative and sunny side of this saga. It's over. Not interested in the next soulless blockbuster. As for ET... What will be of Taylor attendance? Same rumours source (Nikki Finke's deadline Hollywood daily) that disclosed Cath's sacking and Weitz's hiring though... Again, the height of the werewolves is JUST a detail (as it was Laurent's skin colour or Alice's height). It does NOT affect the heart of the story nor the chemistry between the actors. It does not affect the intensity of one's acting. The rumoured replacement of Taylor is not an artistic choice. It's a commercial one. They need things to be rushed (SAG strike on the way?) and Taylor's underage work restrictions are in the way. As for Taylor, he'd walk on his hands to be in. He's chanting to be in. And his replacement would simply crush him. As a mum I really feel for him. He's only 16! He was thrown in the business maelstrom, heavily exploited for promotional purposes, been screamed at by thousands of fangirls... And suddenly... Sorry, we have other plans. He really believes in his role, he loves and is deeply attuned to his character. Can you imagine how painful all that can feel? As you said, nothing is official yet. That's why we're fighting. No actor mention for Jacob's role. What does that tell you? MTV, EW etc. have articles about the possibility of Lautner not coming back to play Black. We have to do something before getting an official announcement. At that point any action would be useless. Probably it already is...
