  1. Yes, an official statement that the event is still being worked on would be more reassuring, thank you. Just reiterating the same information again on 2/25 is not really an update, imo. The fact that they are ignoring and/or deleting comments on FB is discouraging. The fact that they have given us no real updates for weeks is discouraging. Why is it that no one there seems to understand this? I appreciate that you responded to my post, so thank you again. In any case, I have decided not to chance London, and will spend my money on other US cons instead of waiting for a Sherlock con in the US. At least I was lucky enough to be in London last year for an unforgettable experience.
  2. That was posted on Facebook on February 2nd. So, it is over 2 months. I'm sorry, but just continually telling us 'it takes time' is not very reassuring.
  3. So, I just need to get out some frustration. The US Con info has not been updated for over 2 months. Questions and comments from US fans (admittedly, they are mostly negative comments) are being deleted from the Facebook page and not addressed otherwise. I cannot justify the expense of attending the London event without Ben or Martin being there. Seeing as both of them are filming new projects starting in September, I cannot see how either of them will be at the London con. Does anyone really believe, after what happened last year and what's happening now, that there really will be a US con, even if it's in early 2017?! I'm ready to give up and spend my money elsewhere. Anyone have encouragement to offer?
  4. We're in the same boat, on opposite sides of the ocean
  5. LOL They basically said on their Facebook post that the announcement will not come until February. I don't think anyone really thought we'd get it in January, and I am not holding my breath for early February either. Did they happen to mention February of which year? Yep. Time seems to run differently at Showmasters. Perhaps if they hadn't run such an epic last year I wouldn't be so keep to throw even more money at them for another couple. MF is filming starting Sept, and he's the only person I'd travel to London to see (even if MF was announced for London, I'd be worried he might cancel), so I'm counting on the US con being a date and location that I can attend. Now I'm really getting antsy for the promised info!

  7. And I think it said that last year too.
  8. I don't see how it could possibly be done in a timely fashion and keep things going as scheduled. I think they should do away with the numbers and just do batches.
  9. I'd like to know if this is available (upgrading) as well. I went Platinum last year and I'm not sure I want to this year; if I decide I'm definitely going, I'd buy the Gold and upgrade to Platinum if they added MF.
  10. All platinum package holders will be split into two groups. Both groups will have approximately half their photos on Saturday and half on Sunday. i may be able to do saturday but only until 1.30pm is that a better idea and will i still be able to do the photos then as well? Last year the Plat photo ops were first thing in the morning, so maybe. We were not permitted to go on another day, but we could go later, if there was a later photo op. Personally, I would not take the chance, since you really won't know the schedule until very close to the con.
  11. I had the Plat pass last year, number 16. It got me absolutely nothing to have a low number, so I'm curious as to why you think that's important? I was even told by a volunteer that I had to wait in line until after Gold passes when I went for an autograph lol It's not important just nice when things are done in ticket number order as it makes it even easier, less queuing. We were supposed to be let into the talks in number order last year so theoretically it meant you could just join the queue shortly before going in in your number place and didn't have to start queueing early. With regards to auto's it was a bit less defined because it was essentially 'open for all' unlike the photo shoots where we had assigned sessions, but having a platinum pass should give you the ability to join the auto queue either on the end or in front of gold if appropriate. Well, if that was supposed to happen, I never experienced it, lol. I don't think it's a big deal and I'm not worried about it :)

  13. I noticed that they state there are "10-12" guests, which is less than last year (and a good thing if you have a Platinum pass, because that was way too much to do in 2 days, lol). I personally don't think we are going to get BC and MF for the same price as we got BC last year (Plat pass). I do hope for at least one of them and possibly AA as a lead guest. Since it's so expensive to travel from the US, I'm waiting to purchase my pass until at least MF or BC are announced. Interesting that BC is 'pre signed' for VIP.....although that does not rule him out for attending, last year there were only a handful of VIP guests, so why would they not be able to get an in person auto if he's there? Or maybe they get one in person and one presigned? Hmmm..........

  15. It is but I think I'll wait for a 'lead guest' before purchasing a Platinum pass. I know it's not what you mean but Mark is a Lead guest. No, he's not who I meant :) but the ticket pricing leads me to believe that there's no way, at that price for Platinum, that we're getting BC and MF. I am hoping for MF and AA as 'lead guests' since I did Platinum last year for BC. It's expensive to fly to London from the States...

  17. Actually i think it was the packages that sold out first and one day tickets were the last to go. Still just panicking for no reason worst case is i cant book my ticket till 8pm tomorrow when i get home and they wont sell out of gold packages that quickly. Reading back through the old Sherlocked thread about upgrades (plus what I can remember from my own 'from silver to gold and then to platinum') they still had plenty of gold packages left in mid march (a good month and a bit after the tickets first went on sale) so fingers crossed they'll be plenty of time to buy tickets. This is how I remember it. I am almost positive the Saturday and weekend passes sold out, but not the other packages or Sunday. The more expensive tickets should be available if you don't purchase tomorrow.
  18. Let's face it, the majority of people are going for Ben or Martin. Without them they will not make money. This is not a con where you can substitute anyone for Martin or Ben (except each other, and then you have no problem for the majority of fans).
  19. They will not be able to charge the Platinum pass prices without Martin or Ben. One of the main actors has to be there to make it worth that kind of money. So, unless there are no top dollar packages tomorrow, I have to assume they do have a firm commitment from one of them.
  20. I don't think it was luck. They know if they are going to charge a lot of money, one of the two main characters is going to have to be there, and that person will be the main draw. Those actors do know their schedules well in advance, and if they commit to the con, I really doubt they will cancel to take another last minute job. The minor characters are the ones who have to make work a priority over conventions. Just talking about Showmasters events alone, there have been many cancellations or moving to different events for actors/actresses of all Hollywood levels from bit part to headliners because of a change in work commitments. Filming schedules can change at a moment's notice and do change at a moment's notice. I can remember a guest, and I cannot remember if it was a Showmasters event or another organiser, who was at LAX airport and got a phonecall from the show/film they were working on to say they were needed for a reshoot. They were on their way to the convention and had to turn around and go back for a reshoot. It happens. I don't know if it happened elsewhere too, but for Showmasters it happened with Alex Meraz from the Twilight movies. I don't know anything about Twilight? Would you say Alex is a 'major' or 'side' character? Was he/she replaced by another, comparable guest? If Ben or Martin were scheduled and cancelled, there is no comparable guest, for Sherlock, so I cannot see them booking them without a very firm committment.

  22. What constitutes an emergency? Who makes that decision? The expensive tickets will still be available closer to the con. If you're concerned, then wait to purchase.
  23. I am not aware of any cons that let you return your tickets. Upgrade, yes, but not return for refund. They are not doing anything unusual here.
  24. Haha, no problem, was hoping someone would see my post and get the message to the correct people. It's good to know it's going to be at the Excel again. Looking forward to info on guests and tickets etc. :) So now I'm wondering where you got this info. Definitely at the Excel?
  25. That just means that Benedict kind of ships Sherlock and Irene, lol. I'm sure there are plenty of others who do as well. Moffat says it never happened, lol
