ianb
I have a single piece that I am bringing down to Autographica. It is a copy of a NASA lunar trajectory plan and even unsigned it is visually impressive as it shows the craft at the various stages of the mission. At present I have had it signed by the following: Walter Cunningham - Apollo 7 Tom Stafford - Apollo 10 and Apollo Soyuz Fred Haise - Apollo 13 Al Worden - Apollo 15 Charlie Duke - Apollo 16 Ken Mattingly - Apollo 16 Vance Brand - Apollo Soyuz Alexei Leonov - Apollo Soyuz Sy Liebergot - Apollo EECOM Chuck Deiterich - Apollo Retro Jack Lousma - Apollo 13 Capcom Later this year I will have it signed by James Lovell (Apollo 8 and 13). At Autographica I intend to have it signed by Edgar Mitchell (Apollo 14) , Rusty Schweichart (Apollo 9) and Bruce McCandless (Apollo 11 Capcom). I would like to add Buzz Aldrins signature as well but given that I am getting 3 James Lovells signatures for £240 I am unsure on whether to pay around £400 for one of Buzz's. Is it better to have one high value autograph or spend the same amount on getting numerous other signatures. Last year at a conference I got autographs on this piece and in 2 books from Walter Cunningham, Charlie Duke and Alexei Leonov (9 autographs in total) and I obtained these for free. 18blue78
That is pretty much an individual decision. If, & there is no way of knowing, this was Buzz's last autograph show could you live with yourself knowing you passed up the opportunity to meet him? Sailing as close to the forum rules as possible, I'm suspecting you have already paid for the Jim Lovell event. So with that already in the bank why not try to save up to meet Buzz as well? By the way, I met Buzz a few Autographica's ago & was blown away by the experience. Since then his autograph price has only gone up so if he does attend again in the future you have to think he will cost more then at this Autographica. Count Fooku
Think as well it depends what your intentions are for the thing once its done. If you are looking to add Buzz as an investment piece to increase the items value then it probably is questionable if you'd see that money back again given how many things he's signed at events over the years. If you want it just as a piece to own and you can afford it, then given his status, I would think it would be worth adding him on.
Aldrin
If it were me - I'd get Buzz's autograph. It's gonna be an eye watering price but he's what, 85 now, and part of the first landing. This could be his last visit. I'd save and save and put the overtime in as well if I were you - hang on a minute, that's what I'M doing!!!!
