Well, it begins again! The first horror of 2014.

Just seen my first film at the cinema of 2014 earlier this afternoon, and my first horror, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.

 

I'm not quite sure where this sits in the series, as I believed it was a different series of events altogether, but...SPOILER ALERT...it does tie into the existing movies. I won't go as far as to say how.

 

Although the structure of this entry is different (no #night 1 etc), it's pretty much more of the same. Another familiar item is given a spooky spin as a kind of Ouija device, but is nowhere near effective as the rotating fan/video camera scares used in PA3.

 

The cast did fairly well, but the story begins to lose its way midway through, and for the first time since I started with this series, I began to feel that this series may be running out of steam sooner than I expected.

 

However, PA5 is due in its regular October slot later this year, so I'll be on board to see how that pans out.

 

Next up - Devils Due on January 17th.

I sort of gave up on the PA series but then picked up the blu ray of 4 in the Blockbuster close down. Perhaps that will reignite my interest in the series.
