The incredible Wallace Shawn (Clueless, Toy Story, Monsters, Inc.), joins Justin Kirk ("Weeds"), Dan Stevens and Todd Barry ("Bored to Death," "Aqua Teen Hunger Force," "The Sarah Silverman Program") as the new additions to Amy Heckerling's Vamps, which also stars Alicia Silverstone, Krysten Ritter, Sigourney Weaver, Richard Lewis, and Kristen Johnston. Vamps tells the modern day tale of two young beautiful female vampires (Silvestone & Ritter) living the good nightlife in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize her immortality. Shawn will portray Dr. Van Helsing, a well-known vampire expert and hunter; Kirk will portray Vadim, a Russian vampire always on the prowl for a good time; Stevens will portray Joey Van Helsing, a college student smitten with Stacy (Ritter) and; Barry will portray Ivan, blood-thirsty vampire Cisserus' (Weaver) loyal assistant. What movie isn't Malcolm McDowell in these days? The "new Loomis" of the Halloween films will next be seen in Suck, coming to DVD on September 28. Now he's moving on to Vamps, Amy Heckerling's horror-comedy.

 

McDowell is one of three new cast members. Marilu Henner (!) and Zak Orth are also on board.

 

Written and directed by Heckerling, Vamps tells the modern day tale of two young beautiful female vampires living the good nightlife in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize her immortality. The film is currently shooting in Detroit, Michigan.

 

The actors join previously announced Alicia Silverstone, Krysten Ritter, Sigourney Weaver, Richard Lewis, Wallace Shawn, Justin Kirk, Dan Stevens, Todd Barry and Kristen Johnston.

 

Henner will portray Angela, a deathly ill woman who gets "awakened" to her former hot self. Orth will portray Renfield, a young nerdy friend of Stacy (Ritter) and Goody (Silverstone) who tries to be much more hardcore than he actually is, and McDowell will portray vampire Vlad Tepish, otherwise known as the infamous Vlad the Impaler, who enjoys wearing velvet jogging suits and knitting.www.shocktillyoudrop.com
