Hard Knox, was originally supposed to air as part of the regular TV show, however due to them not having enough running time to fit it all in, it was decided to release it as a 4 part webisode! It is a back-story for villain Knox, and show's his past with Matt Parkman (who appears in the 4 webisodes)

I have to say, I am a little p'ed off that they seem to film so much for Heroes that ends up being cut... especially the Monica, Micah & Nikki parts from the start of this volume.. It's fun that we usually get the scenes as webisodes or as DVD bonuses.. but these kinda things are what make regular TV viewers turn off from the show.. For people who only watch the TV show, and dont read the webcomics, watch the webisodes etc, there can really be big chunks of info missing, and that makes the show harder to follow, and the makes people turn off...

Anyway, back to Hard Knox, here is the info for the 4 webisodes, with summarys from heroeswiki

1. Choices

Eighteen months ago, Knox and Matt Parkman are having a meal together. Matt is trying to convince Knox to leave a gang he is running with, headed by a thug named Bartell. They part ways, and the venue flashes back to a room where the gang thugs are planning a job and selecting guns. Knox mentions he wants to "sit this one out", but Bartell doesn't comply. While Bartell is doing a confidence check on each other member (by holding a gun to their throats), Knox begins to sense their fear, and surprisingly bends a steel crowbar into a pretzel. No other gang thug asks to skip out on the heist, and Knox reluctantly agrees to participate.

2. Get Straight

Knox is standing in an alley, trying to bend a piece of rebar steel with no success. Matt Parkman walks by, and sees Knox and stops to talk. Matt tells Knox he knows about the heist the gang just did, and again tries to get Knox to leave the gang. As they finish their discussion, a window in a nearby car rolls down, showing that Bartell's gang was listening to the entire conversion.

3. Fear

Knox comes inside a house and walks up to Bartell, who is lifting weights. Bartell accuses Knox of talking to the cops, but Knox denies it until Bartell names the location where he was talking to Matt. Bartell then drops his weights and Knox begins to try to explain it off, but Bartell begins beating Knox up with his fists. The other gang members hear the fight and are standing nearby watching as Bartell beats Knox to the ground. Bartell next takes out his gun and points it at Knox, saying maybe he can help if Knox is looking for a way out. But Knox does not say a word, so Bartell decides shooting Knox would be too easy and walks over and grabs a baseball bat. Knox stays lying on the ground, but is able to use one hand to catch the bat and stop it when Bartell swings it at his head. Knox then breaks the bat in half, stands up, blocks a punch from Bartell and throws him across the room. Knox then realizes that it's the gang's fear that gives him his enhanced strength. When Bartell gets back up and tries to continue to fight, Knox punches his hand through Bartell's stomach, killing him. One of the other gang members comments that Knox has killed Bartell, and Knox acknowledges it, saying that he guesses he is "the main man now".

4. The Main Man Now

Matt Parkman is directing traffic around the scene of an accident on a Los Angeles street. Spotting an SUV with tinted windows pull up and stop close to the accident, he walks up to it and taps on the window, repeating that they can't stop there. The window goes down revealing Knox in the passenger seat and two other gang members in the vehicle, one in the driver's seat and one in the back. Knox first teases Matt about being assigned to direct traffic, then thanks him for the motivational speech he gave him the other day and notes that he's not scared anymore. When Matt asks what happened to Bartell, Knox says he heard Bartell got eaten by a shark. The window then begins to roll up and the SUV drives off, leaving Matt shaking his head.
