Hogwarts: A Potter History

“Shouldn’t we be going to the hospital wing to see Moony?†Sirius asked

“Next stop Padfoot, Lily wants to come. Said she would meet us in the library,†James replied, scanning the tables for any sign of her.

“You sure it wasn’t just an elaborate plan to get you near books?†Sirius joked.

“Nope…†answered James, distractedly. He turned to face Sirius. “She tried it before. No attempts have worked!†he finished, smiling. Sirius laughed and shook his head. They carried on into the library, checking down each aisle, chattering, completely unaware of Madame Pince’s brow furrowing as she glowered at them from her desk.

“She might be in the Restricted Section, she mentioned it yesterday. Something for Moony,†remembered James.

“She has access to the Restricted Section? How come we don’t!?â€

“Do I really have to answer that?! laughed James. Sirius smiled.

“Guess not!â€

As they made their way deeper into the shelves Sirius stopped short and grabbed James’ arm. James spun quickly in the direction that Sirius was nodding silently. Severus sitting in a dark corner alone. That in itself isn’t unusual, thought James, but something here definitely felt different, and he could bet Galleons on the fact that it was Dark Arts related. He strode over and stood directly behind Severus. Severus jumped in his seat and attempted to cover a book with his arms. James had already grabbed it. He smiled inwardly. Being a Seeker really paid off when it came to speed!

“Half Blood Prince? Royalty eh?†James remarked, turning the book over in his hands. Sirius read over his shoulder.

“Delusions of grandeur, Snivellus?†said Sirius. But this whole time Severus’ eyes never left James.

“You only dare speak to me because your dirty mudblood isn’t here,†rasped Severus. James reached inside his robes.

“No Prongs, not here, don’t let him make you do something stupid. Think of Lily and Moony!†Sirius whispered, urgently.

“You’re right Padfoot,†sighed James. Severus took his chance to recover the book.

“One day Potter,†he spat, “your little gang of strays won’t be there to back you up and I will show you!†A smile played on James’ lips. He bowed to Severus.

“I await that day, Your Majesty!†He turned quickly and strode away, Sirius following.

Definitely up to something, but what? James wondered. Sirius nudged him. A pretty girl had just walked in. She is beautiful, he thought, now distracted from Severus. She seemed to be searching for someone.

“Lily!†The pretty girl turned.

“Hi James, Sirius. Ready to go?†she asked.

“Moony awaits. After you Prongs.â€

“Thanks Padfoot.†James took Lily’s hand in his, and they left the library, much to Madame Pince’s obvious pleasure.
