And that some people haven't even started watching Game of Thrones and don't appreciate it being ruined.

Where do you draw the line though? I didn't see the Sixth Sense until a few years ago, but twists like that enter popular culture, cannot avoid them. I only did GOT at Xmas - 40 episodes in 10 days, but I was already aware of a major event from the South Park parody a few years back.

I'm just uber careful of what I look at and whom I speak to or indeed what I read - for example I haven't finished Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire yet and I was thankful for the continuity announcer at the start of one Big Bang Theory episode saying there were gonna be spoilers in that.

Today I went to see Jurassic World because of all the spoilers or indeed spoilery tweets being posted on there and I knew it wouldn't take long until the movie was totally spoiled hence why I chose to see it sooner rather than later - as it goes I've only watched the first episode of Game Of Thrones and found it all to be rather gory, heaped with lots of exposition and more characters than the phone book - one of these days I'd like to get into it further without the risk of it being ruined.

N.B. Jurassic World is a terrific movie :)

    Anthony (Victor Zsas) Carrigan #Gotham

You met anthony carrigan in the end then haha,

I met him aswell and he was dead lovely!

I did indeed, had a few chats one with the owner of my local comic book store and then on Saturday I spoke to a good Friend of mine who speaks a lot of common sense :) So glad I went for him now.

  3. I never like seeing those dreaded signs, although in some cases they're there for whatever reason etc.

Personally, and this is me speaking, its always nice to get a picture with a guest at the table as that is very much like a memento of the meeting, and theres that sense of familiarity to it, its very informal (not how in my opinion a photoshoot is) plus, I always like taking my own photos (which is why whenever I meet a guest and the assistant kindly asks if they'd like to take the pic I prefer to do it myself) I guess I'm just fastidious like that, in the past I've met people and someone else has taken the photo and for whatever reason its come out blurry in some situations. At least if I take my own pic with someone IF it comes out wrong then I only have myself to blame.

One of the first photoshoots I had back in the day was with a very lovely actress - if I recall I spent about £15 - £20 on that and golly gosh I'm not happy with that pic, the day before I'd got a table pic with her and that is FAR better.

Guess what I'm saying is, that in my opinion photoshoots (apart from the odd circumstance here or there) is something I wouldn't ordinarily opt for

*Just giving my reasoning as to why I prefer posed pics :)

  5. Anthony was really nice to meet, he's the first to sign my Gotham pic and he looks stunning on it (will be interesting to see how this picture looks in a years time) we had a really nice chat, he was very personable and I told him how much of a HUGE hit Gotham is over here and explained how the dvd will be out in October and really looking forward to it - a truly nice guest whom I hope will be back soon.

So glad that I've met him :) Wonderful guest.

Was anyone else disappointed that there were no Roswell prints to choose from when getting William Saddler's autograph. It was great to meet him, but the show I liked him from was Roswell, and there were no photos of him from that series. Had I known I would have bought one from a stall dealer before going to get his autograph.

I had the same issue with Star Trek Deep Space Nine, however I printed one off for myself just in case. I wasn't sure if he would have a Star Trek one only having been in 3 episodes. Glad I did though. He also looked impressed that I had made the effort to get one sorted.

    Take care,

    Matty-lad

There were DS9 prints but some dealer(s) took them all first thing on Saturday and I understand there were various issues getting more printed. Some friends got to him and walked away because of that and complained to a crew member who did a sterling job of trying to help. Some did appear later on on Saturday but much poorer quality than before. Very disappointing that was allowed to happen so early in the day when it was one of the shows listed on his poster.

In my opinion this wonderful crew member should be highly commended and treated rightfully so for how she handled such a situation - it just goes to show how lovely crew members are, how much they care and if they can will help out when they can - it was heartbreaking seeing the look on my Friends face and I really felt for them not being able to get the picture they specifically wanted (at the hands of a dealer who had nabbed em all earlier in the day) thankfully this crew member saved the day in a wonderful way.

I know that at (the Manchester event if I have my facts right) that a thread went up informing us of how only Fans would be able to get our dear Friend Kenny Bakers auto as opposed to the dealers? Or something to that effect? Could this happen for those #RealFans who'd like to meet people like William Sadler, those who actually appreciate the attendee/guest interaction experience and will always ALWAYS cherish the memories that such a meeting consists of?

  8. You'll have to send me that pic sometime :) very sorry I couldn't stop and have a proper chat, I was with people and the concourse was so packed it was difficult to really stop for long.

I hope you liked it :) You don't have to apologise, I fully understand, noticed you were with Friends and didn't want to impose just saw you amidst all the hustle and bustle wanted to say a quick hi and get a quick pic :) Hopefully I'll see you at LFCC (I'm considering another cosplay which I think you may like ;)

  9. I already described meeting with him in the general guest encounter thread, but he was definitely the life and soul of the event for me - excellent guest! Wish I could have spent more time with him. Every time I walked by his table I could hear his voice booming out enthusiastically and it made me smile.

Just before I left I made sure to go back to Steven to say buh bye and he was in this faux/hysterical shouting match with a wrestler who was a few guests up and they were both yelling out each others names (sorry, but I don't know who the sports person was) but this is more a less a transcript:

    Wrestler: (Shouting) STEVEN?!?!

    Steven: (Shouting) WHAT?!?!

    Wrestler: (Shouting louder) STEVEN?!?!?!?!?!

    Steven: (Shouting even louder) WHAT?!?!?!

I told him how he frickin rocked, we shook hands and yep I totally agree with your comment about him being the life and soul of the event :)

King Richard, your stories always make my day :-) Glad to hear you had an amazing experience!

I'm glad you like them :) Means a great deal to me.

  10. Ahhh, where to start... Well my Friend and I set off from Southend later than we usually do as we weren't gonna pay £5, we managed to find a parking space then (in the frickin rain) made our way to gate 5 (was very nice to see a Royal appreciator bowing majestically at me as we passed each other that was so nice :))

Once in we made our way around the concourse to get our bearings and get an idea of where each guest was etc, we met up with good Friends and chilled out/geeked out then on we went to meet Steve Williams, we got our stuff all ready got to the table and there he was, smiling away and so chatty and exceedingly down to Earth - I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this wonderful guest an this lovely guy was worth going to just to meet him - in my opinion he was a headlining guest and the time he spent with us just made it so worth it. And this easily is up there as one of the best meets with a guest/or indeed famous person ever - was great to see he was more than fine with doing table pics and this I'm really happy with because that just added to such a wonderful experience :)

Having met Steven we did a few more circuits of the concourse and met up with another lovely good Friend - shes awesome and dare I say a wonderful crew member ;)

After seeing some rather amazing cosplayers we then went out into the tent that was erected where the stockists were, my goodness was it muggy in there - too stuffy for me so I waited just outside the doors in the fresh air for my Friend then it was orf to meet up with good Friends who had gone to see William Sadler......

Being a Trek fan that was who my two Friends had queued up to go and meet him for, and the look of disappointment in their faces when they came out after seeing him was nothing short of crestfallen and the reason why this convention was almost a bad experience? Because some flipping dealer had got in early and greedily nabbed ALL the Star Trek pictures (clearly not caring about the Fans) my Friend wasn't at all happy about this, in fact they were #Fuming over this and rightly so, this is something that needs to be addressed in future - it was the same last year when people who had travelled from all over (the World) had come to see Stan Lee #REALFANS who were genuinely excited to see him, but because of the greedy dealers who probably couldn't care less who Stan Lee was they just got like a billion things signed and saw the #REALFANS miss out.

And this is precisely what happened with William Sadler, all his Trek photos were taken by a dealer leaving my Friends visibly upset by this, for me, thats the worst thing in the world - I don't like seeing those whom I care about being upset and this was exactly what happened - the very VERY lovely crew member went off with the last sample Trek pic to see if any more Trek photos were going to be printed off - came back with the news that they weren't and out of the goodness of her Heart gave the Trek pic to my Friend to get signed - what an amazing crew member to have done that. Bravo :)

Could there in future be some kind of cut off point for dealers? So that this sort of thing doesn't happen again? Its just not very nice for the #RealFans who miss out because of the dealers.

A bit later on my Friend had gone back to the car and so I went around the concourse in a leisurely fashion and very much enjoying the sights and sounds.

Went to see the very lovely Anthony Carrigan, such a very decent and down to earth chap who was very nice when signing my Gotham pic, I told him how HUGE Gotham is over here and what a nice guy he was :)

And now onto the bottleneck situation that went on near the cosplay area which saw that walkway closed, for the most part (from my own experience) people were typically British about the whole thing and allowed others through from both ways, but thats rather a narrow walkway and at one point in the day we were behind this lady in a wheelchair, my goodness did she have problems getting past other people in fact at one point this lady in the wheelchair was two inches away from careening down the steps (fortunately that didn't happen but thats just how close she was) a bit later on in the day the haphazard way the barrier was placed almost saw me going head over posterior.

Saturday was a very interesting day - a lot of fun to boot, back in the day we used to come to these events to meet Guests and have a wonderful time doing so but because of all the lovely, decent, wonderful people I've met over the years and become very much acquainted with its now a place to come and see and catch up with Friends (first) and geek out with, then meet lovely Guests.

All in all Saturday (apart from the William Sadler lack of Star Trek picss and the bottleneck situation) was a terrific day and has cemented indelible happy memories :)

P.S. A big hi to the Royal Fan who pointed themselves out to me just before I got to the carpark - I'm glad you like my posts on here :)

  11. There are guests who you remember, there are guests who are memorable and then there are guests who are what memories are made of... This thread is devoted to such one guest.

The acting profession has always been one that has amazed us, how an actor can be in front of a camera (whether it be for tv or film) and just simply make that role theirs, its always been a wonderful experience to meet those who elicit such emotions and see them in real life, shake their hands and thank them for bringing to life such iconic characters - Steven Williams was no different... He surpassed this.

I know him best for playing the cold, steely "X" from the X Files and wasn't quite sure what to expect when meeting him, but its clear to say that its obvious why such lovely actors with a Heart so pure and kind relish the idea of taking on the roles they take:

When I met him he was so frickin jovial, so chatty, all full of smiles and bally heck he was SO happy to be there, he was so talkative so accomodating and without a doubt certainly stands out as one of the best Guests- heck lets not even mess about here, as one of the best ACTORS I've ever met, the guy was superb and has an awesome sense of humour as well.

It was more than worth the trip from Southend to Milton Keynes just to meet this FANTASTIC guy :)

  12. I have an Alan Rickman signature on my potter poster. Recent too ☺

Sounds like he's becoming a lot more affable with his signing habits, when did this happen?

    Enjoy guys!!!

Just the chap, I'm gonna be taking a pic of my Harry Potter DVD so that if we're fortunate to bump into each other tomorrow (as Saturday is the only day I'm doing) I'll show you the Alan RIckman auto (as we briefly discussed in the thread last week) :)

Sadly I won't be there tomorrow (first CM I havent attended in a while), I will be at LFCC all weekend though.

Eeeeek, shall save it until LFCC :)

  13.

I was going to be meeting Erin Richards :(

    Will be meeting Steven Williams.

    Still undecided on Anthony Carrigan.

Ye i cant decide if i want to meet Anthony Carrigan or not

At first I thought "YEP! Two #Gotham guests!" then when Erin had to cancel I was like "Dangit, only one"

Thing is, I would ideally like to wait until October (when the dvd gets released) to get the main cast on it - but I do have something for the rest of the cast to sign (although Victor - Anthonys character - isn't on the item) being in 5 of 22 episodes he certainly did leave a very promiment mark so he's very important/integral to the show :)

Ye i was gonna meet him wen erin was there now there is just him im wondering if its worth bringing my poster up for just the one signature

I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this way, theres a whole load of different ways to look at this:

    * His characters very integral.

    * I don't know if this is going to be his first appearance or if we'll have to wait five years or something to see him again.

    * How important is getting his sig on your poster to you?

Believe me, I've been going through these questions myself, and I guess if I didn't have priorities like a phone bill or food to buy then this would be a no brainer. I have a poster for him to sign as well.
