  1. My final word on this. To Darth Owl. Thanks for your response, I did my best as a non Star Wars fan trying to defend you guys, but I'm afraid Hum3z is correct, in these overwhelming odds you cannot win. I feel that despite what they say Showmasters will always throw their support behind the LOTR members rather than Star Wars, as has been evidenced on these forums. Yes there are other shows with Star Wars guests in attendance that would welcome your support where it is being shunned here. Good luck and I hope that you get all the guests that you want to meet. (My mate is usually up on all the Star Wars guests arriving in the UK so if you email me I can let you know what he knows). Andrea: I'm truly sorry if I upset you, but please re-read the posts and see that I was not the one spoiling for a fight (step forward Wideboy, Spudulator and Ptenbob), I was just expressing my opinion. Okay so the Gary Kurtz thing was misinformation that I had heard, and I apologise for posting that. It was in no way meant to upset you or Mr Kurtz, but just top open peoples eyes to the fact that I believed Mr McCallum to be more of a Star Wars stalwart given his immense involvement in the Star Wars saga, be the films good or bad in peoples opinions. Billy Bob and Kenny: As Forum moderators I find your attitude and responses rude and offensive. Calling attendees 'prickly' and and suggesting that their knowledge of Star Wars is 'iffy' (even if it is) is uncalled for. Though I'll expect to be banned now for even challenging your word. It's not a good way to treat customers, and believe me word gets around. So as I expect to be banned now I'll just say good luck Star Wars fans, stick with it and remember if you can't get it here there ARE other shows. My best, Bruce.
  2. could you qualify this please bruce? Yes, it's a response to this comment that was levelled at me.
  3. This statement pretty much confirms my opinion of the prequels. By suggesting that Episode 3 will somehow make the first two films better, you are admitting in essence that they really weren't very good. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the prequels in a tongue-in-cheek way, but they are not Star Wars movies. Anyway, I'm not going to waste my time qualifying my "throwaway" comments as your smug, aggressive tone does not invite a reasoned discussion. spudulator Well as you may have read by now I confess I'm not a Star Wars fan, I have seen the films and enjoyed them all equally, but I am mature enough to know that what it appears that you doing is judging a book by its chapters alone. Why not wait until you have seen the whole film/read the whole book before making your judgement? And I find your own 'smug', 'aggressive' and frankly rude tone not capable of holding a reasoned discussion anyway.
  4. Well if you'd read it correctly you'll see that I said it was something that I heard and not that I know for sure. I confess I'm not a Star Wars fan, more of a Trek fan. This was something I was told this at a convention once, I guess I shouldn't have posted it without checking the "facts" first, but my statements about Mr McCallum reamin correct nonetheless.
  5. I assume you mean insulted? Well I did no such thing, in fact I would suggest that by adding to their comments they had insulted my opinion first, (hence why I tailed the same comment on the end of my statement), but I'm not going to get into a slanging match with you, or anyone else because that leads to being banned and thats not what I'm about. What I was implying by saying that Spudulators opinion was minor, was that they had not given their comments a second thought, and to follow it up by saying that Jar Jar was the cause only confirms this. As I have said before, the saga is not complete, let us not judge Mr McCallums involvement in it until it is. To say that he ruined the saga is a careless throwaway comment. Episode III may be the final missing piece of the puzzle that brings the whole thing together in ways we have not yet imagined. Be patient before making judgement.
  6. I'm afraid if you are suggesting that Mr McCallum has "destroyed everything that is good about Star Wars" on the basis of one character alone you are not a great judge of film or narrative lore. Besides the Jar Jar character is integral in moving the saga to the point of the Clone Wars. It is his naievety, and struggle to do the right thing that sets the war in motion.
  7. What makes spudulators opinion more valuable than anyone elses? Who are they to say that RickMcCallum was "second in command of destroying everything that is good about Star Wars". This saga is not yet complete, I suggest reserving judgement until we can see the saga and Mr McCallum's involvement in it as a whole. And that is why my opinion is more valuable.
  8. That's your opinion, and a minor one at that. Besides from what I've heard Lucas actually sacked Gary Kurtz, hence his non involvement in Return of the Jedi, so what does that tell you?
  9. Hi LOTR Fan, nice to hear from you. Sorry I've been real busy of late so I haven't had time to post. Still no Lou Ferrigno I see lol!
  10. Busy my spam!!!!!!!!!! True this is, told me did he. Contracted he is from now until late October, then again until January. Ask him you must if believe me you do not. who cares? HOUDINIA Well judging from the poll someone obviously does.
  11. Hello? Rick McCallum. Producer of all three prequels and the special editions of the original trilogy. Gary Kurtz only produced A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back in this series, Return of the Jedi was produced by Howard G. Kazanjian. Rick is the REAL second in command of the Star Wars saga.
  12. I'm afraid this is a bit of a sweeping statement to make. Let's do some Collectormania statistics... We currently have 7 LOTR Guests confirmed for C4. At C3 there were 10 Star Wars guests in attendance, and at C2 there were 12 Star Wars actors which constituted around half of the entire guest list. I don't recall anyone complaining about those events being a Star Wars show with special guests... Kenny Then the balance was wrong at those shows too. Besides with the possible exception of Sala Baker and Andy Serkis the rest of the LOTR actors are brand new to Collectormania and indeed shows in the UK. Which is excellent work on your behalf, but amongst the Star Wars guests that you had mentioned had appeared at C2 and C3, from what I have been told only a few were new to this country, (Daniel Logan, Temuera Morrison for example) the rest had been circuit regulars like David Prowse, Michael Sheard, Kenny Baker, Warwick Davis, Jeremy Bulloch and even this years Gary Kurtz who has conducted signings for Showmasters before. Hopefully for the Star Wars fans there can be a future Collectormania with 5 or more brand new Star Wars guests then?
