Although the bike will wheelie (even in 4th) along the road (not something I'd recommend) I'm not sure I could get it up (oooh errr missus) into a wheelie to get through the revolving door. It's just too big and heavy. Since my accident I don't have enough strength in my leg to get it onto the centre stand never mind up on one wheel. I reckon it would just about fit in the lift but you'd want to switch the engine off. I think the hotel would have something to say but we could maybe get away with one of those motorised scooter things

Of course mines a Triumph so it's not working properly unless there's a leak somewhere! Actually mine doesn't leak oil and I did get the fuel leak fixed after it caused the air filter box to explode. Even I wasn't too keen on the idea of petrol dripping onto the exhaust pipe Does anybody know how big the elevators in the Rad are?.....

Why do people think that I'm not going to take such suggestions as a personal challenge. I might not get the bike through the revolving doors but I could get it through the side doors pretty easily. I'd need to be careful in the reception area since the floor would be quiet slippy but the corridors are carpeted.....
  10. Philistine!!!! I think there were only three of us there who had proper bow ties. Of course some of us are the height of class and sophistication.....or something With the shirt I had on a bow-tie would have looked silly proper or otherwise In all honesty, I thought the crew looked very smart and professional. I was told that I needed formal dress for the dinner but not that we would need to be suited up the rest of the time. So I felt very scruffy with respect to the rest of the crew most of the time. Luckily for most of Saturday and Sunday I got away with it due to being the courier for the photos and needing to be in my bike kit. I think the whole tone of the event was due to the crew's attitude and appearance and both the crew and showmasters should be very proud.
  11. Broke his hand punching the stage in rehearsal for a theatre piece, or so he told me.
  12. That's a cruel and unusual photo. I didn't even know that you'd taken that one Thank you for the sympathy Jola, although it may have had more to do with the bottles of wine than blatting about on the bike

Wouldn't surprise me, it wasn't just the hotel staff but all the other conference attendees I have video somewhere of me riding a recumbant tricycle around the rotunda in a certain hotel in Hinckley (at an Eastercon) and managing to do so on two wheels. Unfortuantely not long afterwards I got caught by the night manager cycling it down a corridor on the 5th floor. He was very polite but did ask me to stop. It was the Cherry Black, Triumph Trident 900 sitting out front in the short term car park I'll try it if you sort the aftermath out with the hotel
  14. I had him as a guest at a convention in Glasgow a few years back and was a complete fan boy he was a perfect gentleman and even let me "play" with some of his models, i think he would be a great draw for a showmasters event. IIRC he lives in London still.

I hope you've put the Leathers in the cloak room so that they don't leave a puddle in the bar I got enough funny looks from the hotel staff at the weekend as it was! I didn't think I'd be allowed to ride the bike up to the bar and order a Jack Daniels and Coke. ....hmmmm maybe next time I wonder if the bike would fit through the front doors....... I'm not sure how to take this comment lol
  16. what these....???? Bugger!!!!!

  19. Nice to see you scrub up so well yourself Dr Rennie..hehehehehe Andy Why thank you, i try not to do it too often, it's a REAL pain tying the bowtie!
  20. It was a blast,It was nice seeing the lasses in dresses and even the lads scrubbed up well. Didn't know you'd invited members of Kraftwerk to the dinner on Saturday night but..... Thanks for asking me to come and blatt my bike around the Berkshire countryside. It was great fun, even if I did get a bit "moist" on Sunday

So this is where the bar is!!!!! takes off wet leathers and orders a JD and coke
  23. Just so you guys are aware in future, it wasn't a cup game, so there was no 'extra time'. There will have been a few minutes of injury time, but that's normal. I don't mean this as criticism, it might just help in futurte to know that the time you got in, would be normal if the Dons were playing at home. 877240[/snapback] It may not have been a cup tie but it did finish later than we were told,, could have been a late kickoff or another delay.
