  1. Does anyone know if this company is still around?  They used to provide picture frames complete with guest nameplates and photos for you to house any photos you got with celebs at conventions, but there doesn't seem to be any trace of them online these days.  Their website looks to have disappeared and their FB page has been inactive for ages, so it would appear as though they are no longer in business.

Any idea whether or not they are still going?

    Thanks.

Have you checked your Eventbrit account? They should be available there.

........... Oh, thank God.  I did check it a while back and couldn't see them there, though my phone has been acting up a lot lately, not alerting me to notifications etc.

Crisis averted, everyone.  Nothing to see here anymore... go about your lives, citizens. :D

    Thanks, @VikingGrrrl! :coolthumb:

  3. I booked some tickets about a fortnight ago for this Saturday at the con - 1 standard entry and 1 diamond pass.  I don't recall ever seeing them being sent to my email... I've just checked it again now and they're not in the inbox, spam folder or deleted items.

I'm getting a little worried that perhaps they have not been sent and that I may not be able to get them resent in time, if that is even an option.  What would be the best way for me to go about contacting someone to try and get this resolved asap, as there is very little time left??

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Is it okay to bring a prop or accessory along to a photo shoot with you?

For example, I'm working on a sketch of one of the guests that I'm planning to have printed out and signed by them.  Would I be able to bring this print along to the shoot and include it in the photo?

Also, what are the rules, if any, on giving gifts to a guest; could I, say, give the guest a copy of my sketch ?

  5. Such a shame. I met her in Glasgow a couple of years ago and she was so lovely. Chatted to her about the Edinburgh Film Festival which she was thinking of going to that year.

I missed out on my photo with her that year, so was hoping to get one this year instead.

    RIP. :(

I find this part of the FB clue-post to be the most interesting -- "this will most likely be their only event that they will attend."  As someone else has said, I think that eliminates the younger people.  I mean, if it was, say, Daisy Ridley, wouldn't it be more like, "if they have a good time, they may become a regular at cons"?

So I expect it to be  someone whom, due to age or illness, is not likely to have years of con attendance ahead of them.  The other possibility, which I find somewhat more intriguing, is that it's someone for whom THIS LFCC offers a unique possibility.  Like, there's something significant about this year, or some other con guests, or just this July in London, which would make this the one-and-only con this guest would make an exception for.

Hmm, some interesting points.  I haven't read through this entire thread so I don't know if anyone else has already suggested this, but given that this year marks the 40th anniversary of Superman: The Movie, which was largely filmed in London, and given that we're getting Margot Kidder and Jack O'Halloran this year as well.... *maybe* Gene Hackman is on the cards?

  7. Aw man, I'm so gutted I can't go this year.  Met Michael back in 2014 and he was such a gent.  Got him to sign a RD poster and he remarked that he'd never seen it before, and when I mentioned I'd just bought it not 10 minutes previously, he then asked if I'd go back to the stall and buy one for him!  Naturally, I obliged, and later in the day when I walked past his table, he looked up and gave me a thumbs up.  Top guy.

It'd be fun to see him again this year and see if he remembered me!

  8. Unlike all of you, I unfortunately won't make it down this year.  I've been there the last 3 years running, but this year isn't possible.  So, I'm instead sending down a Superman poster for Terence Stamp and Jack O'Halloran to sign, and a BTTF one for Chris Lloyd and Tom Wilson.

That's as close as I'll come to "seeing" anyone this year! I'd have loved to meet them, as well as Tia Carrere. :(

For me it has to be the firefly/ serenity cast. I know Summer Glau had attended before but I sadly missed her. Nathan Fillip and Gina Torres.

Summer Glau was such a lovely guest.  Really wish I'd bought a frame for the photo I got with her. :(

    As for guests....

Mark Dacascos would be an excellent guest.  Sandra Bullock too.  And, I doubt it would ever happen, but..... Mr T!!!

  10. It wasn't even just about having missed the shoot and being told a refund wasn't possible - it was more down to the largely unhelpful, disinterested nature of the staff member on the sales desk whom I spoke to.

I had an issue with another shoot last year, where the guest wasn't even looking at the camera, and I was told that I couldn't even get a replacement photo taken. This kind of thing makes me wonder why I bother...

  11. 1 - not buying a ticket for the Dolph Lundgren talk. I really wanted to be there for that.

2 - not buying a photo upgrade frame for my Dolph photo before they all sold out. :(

3 - not getting Rutger Hauer's autograph. His queue was insanely long throughout the weekend, and there was no way I'd ever have managed to get it.

  12. Met Margot today and had a little chat with her about the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which she's intending to check out whilst she's in Scotland. Got 2 autographs which was nice, but unfortunately I missed the photoshoot I'd booked and was told rather abruptly by the sales desk staff that a refund was not possible. This isn't the first issue I've had with photos, and honestly, it's starting to put me off booking any more.

Anyway, Margot was such a lovely guest. Very chatty, and she was a great laugh at her panel talk.

  13. I think it's asoss.org

Close - it's www.asoss.co.uk. However, it seems they don't have any spare stock - I emailed them asking if they had a spare Dolph Lundgren frame, and they emailed me back saying that they have no spare stock - every frame they made was at LFCC. So sadly, it doesn't look as though it'll be possible for any of us to pick up an upgrade frame that we missed out on. :(
